In this episode, Phillips and Scott review: The Lovely Bones, A Single Man, The Princess and the Frog, Broken Embraces and The Last Station.
I'm kinda surprised that they were both pretty hard on the Princess and the Frog, I think it's one of the top Disney Princess movies (with without question, one of the saddest deaths in an animated Disney movie).
Man oh man I remember reading The Lovely Bones and when I heard Peter Jackson was directing it I was thrilled. But holy crap, what a misfire. This movie felt the need to eliminate important character points and emotions and themes and replace them with scenes they felt were more important, like a musical montage of the quirky grandmother doing laundry. This movie needed the Peter Jackson that directed Heavenly Creatures, and not the Peter Jackson that directed Lord Of The Rings.
