you can use power bank, you can bring it outside, not for too long though, charging it overnight is okay, it cuts out at 100%, then when it goes to 97%, it tops it off.
Thanks comparing the quest battery to what happened with the Samsung Note is a ridiculous thing to do that was literally a defect in the battery they used it is not something that happens normally because somebody left their phone on charge or decide to use a battery bank most devices have safety features built-in for overcharge protection
@@teamholmez86 yea
Yeah this guy has no clue what he's talking about
"I researched online."
You're absolutely right, besides that Oculus sells its own battery charger bank that does the exact same thing any power bank would do.
the stuff with not charging it all night it could possibly do the things you mentioned but it also ruins the battery over time so it dies quicker and charges slower
Just ordered a quest 2 today. Thanks for the helpful video!
uhh... quest pro is being announced on thursday...
im in the same boat as you tho
@@JohnsonBonson bro even if i didnt already have a quest 2 i wouldnt be able to afford a quest pro. LMAO
@@ZacharySkan should've been around the same price, i wouldve guessed. but quest 2 is here to stay!
Why every time I see these comment I jumped out window
Charging all night won’t hurt the headset. It might decrease battery life over time by small amounts but that’s about it. Don’t scare people into weird habits.
I agree. The typical Lithium battery will decrease about 10%-20% every two years with doing a full battery cycle (100% to 0% maybe every 2 days). Other than that. Since we haven’t really seen many reports of the Quest 2 battery randomly combusting, I’d think it’s safe to say that leaving it changed over night won’t harm anything. Using the headset normally will decrease battery life more than leaving it charging over night.
@@Studpum ok, thanks guys for the feedback, I have to admit I did not do much research on this (its why I dont like this video)
@@Diamond_VR hey man it’s a great video, every once in a while something slips it happens.
@@Diamond_VR Disco-VR did an awesome breakdown for the battery which I found interesting. Lots of good stuff and tips. ruclips.net/video/qSiRXIkHEcs/видео.html Congrats on 14k though my dude. Please don't forget me when you reach 100k :)
Almost anything these days that has the capability of charging a lithium battery has overcharge protection and cross circuit protection. Otherwise you're liable to make the battery explode into a smoky ball of Fire.
One time my oculus fell in water in a sink full of water it still fine after that no damage, just very foggy when I play on it.
how the hell-
I don't have motion sickness but guys using a mat is the best thing you could buy because if your playing gorilla tag you can move a little bit and hit or throw your controller so a mat helps alot
Sorry but what happened with the Samsung note phone was because of a particular defect with the battery they used it's been over a year of quest 2 being in use and nobody has had a problem with the battery so telling people they cannot use a power bank with a device that has two-and-a-half hours of battery life is ridiculous it is not going to damage the battery or make it explode 🤦♀️ the quest 2 has built-in features that will stop it from charging when full and there are power Banks that Oculus say are safe to use like the Anker ones with built-in safety features
Yeah and the part of him telling everyone not to drain the battery or charge it to 100% I'm pretty sure the quest 2 will shut down before reaching 0%
I know that you will become a big youtuber soon. These type videos take effort to make! I love you Diamond :)

1 thing i have to say about sunlight going to my lenses, i remember i got a rift s and i didnt even know that sunlight wasnt allowed on the lenses but now that i have the quest 2 and i know what happens, i usually close the curtains and turn on the lights for safety
what happens ?
@@anthonychavez20 this msg was ages ago, il prolly delete it or edit it idk
The “Do not full charge to 100%” is bullshit its ok to fully charge it but he is right about letting it die it can cause some problems
Hi Ik it’s a year later but I have a question, I ordered my quest 2 for Christmas, there’s been many things going around that it melts the charging ports, I’ve been trying to look for recent vids on this but they are all from a year ago, do you have any advice? Sources I got it from said it was due to charging overnight/overcharging/ making your quest to 100% and letting it drain past 20%
When I first bought the Oculus Quest 2 I had to run a lot of test to see how well it survived? Charging survived, yes I did leave it there for the night, and sometimes when I'm awake and the green light is on I unplug it. Also I let it drain to 0% and it survived. And I had no problems. Course I have to drink plenty of water before I play VR.
Well I’m literally having so much problems with my oculas cuz if I try to turn it on my screen doesn’t do the three dots and goes to sleep mode and even if I do get it on after just like a few seconds my oculas goes to sleep mode just randomly and when that happens it’s like when I tried to turn it on
I have a silicone and my brother does too I have like a pink and white one and he has like a red and white one and it really helps
heres a tip dont abuse chargers in vr
because thats exactly what my sister did and now 1. her charger is broken and the exestion cord is on the tip of breaking and 2. the charging port is literally broken its nearly unuseable now (if you can help please help)
Is there anyway to fix the 2nd problem the dust and stuff without spending money?
I just fold my microfiber cloth and stuff it in there. I use the one I got with my Costa sunglasses. Hope that helps you.
Ye thanks man!
My quest was really dirty until now
I thought the silicon cover came with the quest, No?
It does
You think you could helpt me my controller keeps disconnecting the second I look away from it
I have this white drop on the left lens
Wow, you shared a lot of helpful advice. I even downloaded this video so I can always have access to it. Ty & Subbed 👍
wow thanks bro! I appreciate it!!
@@Diamond_VR No prob. I'm going to be looking through your other videos to learn more about VR. I'm kind of reaching the point where I'm tired of playing a console game system. I need something more Interactive. But I'm new to this whole thing so I'm glad I found your channel. Btw do you think $500 or $600 is enough to get everything I need including the Meta Quest 2 VR headset?
✌
why does my oculus charge have black lines on it?
Will I blow up if I plug my phone into my oculus with the charger?
So it’s safe to play outside at night? Also during the day if there’s a window in the room you are playing, and sunlight comes through the window, will that damage the oculus. Also will household lights damage it?
Only sun, imagine your lenses are magnifying glasses, and it's condensing the run rays into the internals of your VR, damaging it. Just avoid outdoors overall. If you play at night that's fine, but be aware of sorroundings, if you're safe i mean
@@_diplomata Thanks
I've had mine for 2 weeks can't charge but at least it doesn't melt

Where should I place the ocules if I use a charging doc from Anker that charges it when i place the quest 2 in the spot
bruh so annoying with the sunlight thing cus I have had my headset for so long (i bought a regular one, no extra things to it) and my brother told me to not have it in direct sunlight and I had my headset in my sofa and right by my sofa is a window and my little sister doesn't know that and she opened the curtains a tiny bit cus my mom told her to because my curtains are always closed all day and she doesn't like that, so the entire night, direct sunlight was idk, "hitting" the lenses on my quest so this morning when I connected air link and tried to play blade & sorcery, everything was just completely ruined. There were weird glitch textures everywhere inside the lenses, it was unplayably laggy, garbage quality and I could barely see anything, everything got ruined just because of that sunlight
One question. Can you use a glasses Microsoft wipe?
There’s a tiny mark in my lense but it’s not from sunlight how do I get rid of it
I bought my quest and it came with a silicone cover and glasses protector is that a new addition I payed £300
Funny that i have microfiber cloth from projector and cardboard VR (Bobovr z4)
I’m getting an oculus quest 2 in 3 days 😆😆 I CANT WAITT
mine comes in 3 days too😌 How is yours do you like it?
Can I have a fan next to me on? It's not a ceiling fan so can i?
What if we can't get the lens cover can we just put it in the box
Did u figure it out
Quest keeps pausing help plz
Good video bro love it
Thanks man!

Can you charge it with a dif charger like an iPad one
Nope it’s gotta be type C

6:25 bro set all graphics to lowest in settings fps boost, but the brightness, well you know some people loves high brightness
Good to know.
im getting mine on august 15th, but im already watching videos about it
What happens if mine dropped in water
does air hurt the oculus quest 2?
Mine started smelling smokey
Me, that leaves the vr in charge for 5 days straight because of splitted parents:
Thanks for the tips tho these will help alot
Enable passthrough :)
The leaving your quest 2 charging overnight was de bunked 4 months before this video and it states on multiple videos and my own research and posts from the community that it can make it so it dosent last as long by a few minutes over years of use.
This aged poorly because there has been an issue with the charging port straight up melting
My ocolous use to last 2 hours and a bit but now it dies in 50 minutes
All device cannot charge over night due to ghost and spirit visitation, they hover and disrupt the electric flow and can make your device battery look weird
Soooooo, what’s the chance of my oculus melting over night? I have it being delivered in a few days and I want to make sure meta’s crappy designing doesn’t ruin my day
About a 0% chance, actually.
My oclus screen keeps turning white and glitchy
What is the game called at 2:04.
Jesus Christ, taking care of my quest 2’s battery and charging tasks is going to be a personal hell for me.
You can use an external battery bank most people with a quest to do and there are some designed specifically for VR don't let what happened with the Samsung phone scare you that was a defect in the particular battery they used parts of this video or just over the top
Or computer?
I have adapted to PSVR so I dont really need guardian on
Oculus quest 2 being at only 300-400 dollars and having the option to turn off guardian and being fully wireless with amazing tracking along with hand track and being able to play pcvr games with wire/air link/virtual desktop... psvr costing between 350- 450 horrible tracking- wired- not as many games... probably the dumbest vr headset you could've adapted to.
My hair is short and it has no oil in it
My quest had a overheating error and it scared the shit out of me

I can’t use the oculus quest if it’s not fully charged
Yeah same, I later found out that the thing I said about not letting drain to 0% barely makes a difference and you don’t have to worry about it
Turn of the fan then don't move eanywere
I use pima cotton to clean my lenses
Me planning to buy oculus quest 2: :) *sees 39 videos about oculus quest*
Me after: Omw to buy 13 accessories
What situation are we talking about...? D:
Someone should make a quest 2 with a different battery like Li-Po
2:23 what if I'm bald
You can also use a rag if you don’t have any cloths lying around but the rag does have to be microfiber for the sake of your quest 2
I will stop playing while its charging put all my friends want me to stay on so I blame also i will chek my battery alwasy bc its prob at 0 rn i have not used it in a year or a long time soo. resting on forehead is fine if you have no hair lol
Bruh I used to play in my living room and the sun was beaming on my headset
2:14 I did this before watching this video 😬
hahahah I do it all the time lmao
2:31 I don’t have any hair😳😳😳
Another thing is do not draw on your quest using permanent markers, if you don't have a strong enough alcohol it will stain and still after cleaning you will see a little bit of the colors and the markers on it.
I imaging anyone using permanent markers on an oculus quest would understand it's supposed to be permanent... I would probably stick with stickers or, if you really want to draw, use those sticker paper label things.
Dont use a third party charger
Diamond if you dont like this vid why did you upload it?
I do all of these
lol
You can say covid in your videos?
bro honestly I have no idea, this is all confusing
I stop the video and opened komment section what poeple says 😂
ARE U SAYING EVERY THING REAL
There's actually one great advice for almost any device with lithium batteries: when you can, try to avoid charging it up to 100% and discharging it to 0%, the farther you are from limits of your battery - the longer it will live. The best way to use any device with lithium battery is to keep her charge between 30% and 80% and once a month do a full cicle with charging a battery to 100% and discharging it to 0%. It seems like stock OS on Oculus Quest 2 can't help you to use it like this, but I'm almost sure that you can find an app that does exactly that on something like SideQuest.
The first part of the video you can just f****** ignore about charging and leaving it overnight as long as you have a power bank that you just plug into your headset while you're play that's fine but if you don't then just heed his advice because you don't want your headset to be fully charged all the time because that can tend to make the batteries break faster
right the first one: don't charge ANYTHING over night! not because it would catch fire, but simply because you are destroying your battery by stressing it with full charge. Especially iPhone people who charge over night should know this, but their batteries are sho crap that they don't have many options anyway
Who else has a lens pen AND micro cloth? #lenspengang
That laugh edit with #3 though made my day lol. Love you Green Diamond :)
I’m bald
Ong we do not care
don''t watch lol
I dont like this video
Use ur hands to clean lends takes couple seconds no money needed easy
Bruh fan is allowed it cools
I have had my quest 2 for like 7 months and I have done pretty much all of these.😂
You forgot one general piece of advice. When watching certain videos when not alone in a house, make sure you wear your earphones. Some may not want to hear about Spiderman coming home.
which movie? there is HOMEcoming, far from HOME, and no way HOME.
@@BenDover-lo6ci I haven't seen any of these movies, which kind of supports my point.
I have an oculus quest 2 and another major tip I have about the headset is: ALWAYS KEEP IT SOMEWHERE SAFE AND KEEP IT SAFE because at first glance it looks and feels chunky but it’s very very Fragile. Think of it as the cordless Apple earphones of the headsets in the market. It’s good but it’s very breakable… I’m tried of seeing friends I talk too say they’re headset has broken lenses, broken controllers, broken straps and the headset itself sometimes. From experience and sometimes from others IT CAN ALSO BREAK FROM INSIDE and that’s bad. So your headset could look fine from the outside but probably not from the inside. The trackers on the controller can go lose, the magnets in the controllers can malfunction, the sensors can stop working, the battery can go bad, the speakers can break, the controllers can drift and all of these issues may not be reversible. In fact I advise not to take it apart especially the controllers because if you set the magnets inside wrong it will cause problems.
So keep the headset in a safe place and be careful with it because it’s more fragile than you think.
Charging thing I wouldn't worry about the processor trickles the charge rate once at 100%
Thanks for the advice it really helped to not absolutely destroy my oculus quest 2
I have holded/rested my oculus VR on my forehead, but now i know it can be dangerous, so i better just take headset off if something important should be.
