I'm aware this is an old video, but given my family has just bought one of these I really appreciate your thorough and easy to follow review and demonstration on all the cubbies, nooks and how everything folds and stows away - I feel like I know the car before we've picked it up :)
@Hyperspace Explorer it's very good. For a ten year old car with 90k on it she drives very well, feels solid and is really versatile with seating configuration. Very badly with it so far. I got the smaller diesel manual and have got 52mpg thus far :)
I don't know if you still do these car reviews, but it's because of you that I am enjoying my 2013 Mazda 5 Touring I thank you so much for reviewing it, I still am enjoying mine after 11 years of love! :)
I just picked up a 2013 model. I actually like it more than my BMW crossover. Plan on changing out the radio for android touchscreen with google maps and it would be perfect.
As the owner of a 2007 model, the Mazda5 is one hell of a fun vehicle to drive. It's really peppy and handles very well seeing it is based on the Mazda3 platform. Plus even while travelling at 70MPH, I was still able to get 28MPG on the highway. The engine is very smooth and refined, mind you I own the 2.3L based version.
Have a 2012.. One of the best vehicle I ever owned. 100k and basically no problems. Fold the seats down and use it like a cargo van. So many trips in this baby. Keep her service up ( by a trusted Mech). I do all my own service. Trans service at about 50k and several drain n refills since. Regular oil changes and let it warm up a bit b4 hard driving. @80k she got new plugs, coolant flush, brake fluid flush, new drive belt. Also, replaced the battery at around the 5 year mark. of course replace your air filter ever 15k or so. Yes the rear shocks make some noise, but it's nothing, they are inexpensive and easy to replace. Don't get the factory ones, get some monotube KYB or even the standard Monroe shocks and it's all good. Got her first brake job(front only) @99k and new tires. Only really concerning issue I had was the brakes, I came in hot at a gas station and hit a hole where they were working on the road and the anti-lock brake system kicked in. Then the brake pedal went almost to the floor right after that. I was a little concerning and I had that issue a couple times. I bled the brakes a time or two, thinking maybe I had gotten air in the system. It always kinda corrected itself. I now know that it is an issue with the brake anti-lock module. I was thinking I needed a new master cylinder, but that wasn't the case. Now that I know what was causing it, I haven't had anymore issues. I just try to avoid any sudden stops that might cause the anti-lock system to be activated in an extreme manner. I keep her squeaky clean and don't abuse her and she is pretty much as good as new. Will most likely keep it for a long time, b/c it will make a great second vehicle also. Should be good for 2-300k miles. Most issues people have are due to negligence, lack of care, ignorance and taking it to bad n rough mechanics.
Do you get a rattle during cold start? My Cx-7 started last winter and I believe they have the same engine. I’m considering getting this as a replacement
@@bhadz100 I have a used 2007 and when I start it I get that little engine rattle even in warm weather. But I think you'll like this more than your CX-7, as the 5 has sliding doors, room for 5 more with you and don't believe what you hear about the 3 row. There's enough room when the second row seats are moved just a notch or 2. Another option for the seating is rotating seating. One day someone sits on the back the gets the center the next day or week. If you don't need the seats you can put them all down and have a huge area to put slot of stuff. I can fit my 29" rim bike in here without having to remove the front tire. All in all I think you'll like this more than you Cx,-7.
I tuned in to watch COPS, and the "bad boys" song on TV was playing in sync with the video here. xD Aside from that oddity, the video was very well presented, Kyle. Keep up the great work. B-)
First crossover SUV's and now this...the crossover minivan. Shouldn't be too long 'till we start seeing crossover pickups as well. Oh that's right, the Subaru Baja!
Have this as a rental and this is perfect for a road trip if you have a small family (ig wife and husband and 2 kids) the second row recline to the point you feel like you are in a first class airplane seat
Great car, just missing the rear tinted windows. It feels like your in the open with no privacy at all. Man having this job is AWSOME, driving a new car every week is my dream!
As usual another exceptional presentation . The Asian car manufactures I noticed are very clever in the installation of creature comforts and compartments and the layouts of these cars . I like how the head rests move down and additional ideas as the small tray moves like your in first class on your flight on an aircraft and about a half dozen other great things that were shown in this clip ...
That is one nice Van, I am very impressed with all the features for the money. It would make a perfect hauler for myself. Even though I live alone I do radio tv and computer repair.
No lie dude you should be on Top Gear America, or do a guest appearance on Top Gear UK. You have the potential and the recognition from mostly anyone who saw your channel. If you would do more test drive with an in depth review just like this one then you are set. It doesn't have to be expensive cars, just cars that normal people would buy for every day usage. Set up more cameras for the twist n turns etc. Show people the cars' pros n cons. All n all keep on doing what you are doing man.
Thank you for this review, Im planning to get the 2013 Mazda 5, it will be great for putting a chair topper on it for me, as I am handicapped, this little teenyvan is perfect for me to adopt, I have a tradition of naming all my cars...and I plan to cll my little mazda 5 Timmy the Teenyvan..HEEHEE..:)..Love the review.:)
Great video, totally complete and I think better made than any from the dealer. The unique "fail" I've seen on this model is the lack of the third passenger's seat in the second row seat. I can't understand why for the US market this model comes with only capability for two passengers when in other countries there comes with the entire three seats, the mediun space is a kind of three-quarter seat but easily can be seated three people in the second row, Mazda 5 is an excellent minivan after all.
Nice review of the van/car. Thanks. It has helped with my used car purchase. You showed me all I needed and wanted to see in the review. Really nice job.
@@ruolov1 I bought a 2012 Mazda 5 just like the one in your video same color even. Been a good little scoot about town car. Just hit the 90,000 mile mark. Yep low miles also.
The handling of the 5 far exceeds that of a large minivan. It might not be straight line fast as a V6 minivan but it is miles ahead in the handling department. 10 times more fun to drive. You also have to take it for what it is, a Mazda3 hatch with a minivan body.
Just as an FYI, the center row head rests fold down so you can fold the seats flat without having to take the head rests off like in most hatch backs and SUVs
in my last job they have one of these, it a fun car, i really like it a lot good drive and nice interior, the gas in the 2.5 is not that good but is a nice car
In other markets they have a seat that folds out from the storage compartment in the driver's side second row seat, but I don't think it would have complied with US safety standards
Hey Kyle when your doing night driving clips I think you show us with the Highbeams own and lowbeams for comparisons, it will only take like 4 seconds really. And I think it would be 4 seconds worth it.
@SanderOfficial I agree, plus I'd rather have less power and better fuel economy since that's what really matters. Seems like everyone wants 500 HP and 30 MPG, but let's face it, that's not happening
Yes they are. I was lucky my brother found one 2007 model. I was hesitant at first but after a second drive bought it from a second owner and mine till the end of time. There fun to drive but parts are very hard to find. Not found often in Upull It as most owners must love them. Only seen three do far in 2 years. Keep looking your bound to find one.
Hey Kyle, I have a question... I am going to Hamilton Chevrolet in warren, Mi and i was wondering if i could get any advice on what i should act like what type of clothes i should wear... If you have time could you please let me know that advice thanks
You said there is no option for powered rear doors. I don't know about that, because we have friends that own a Mazda 5, the generation before this one, and it has powered rear doors.
WoW ! I love seeing people hate on car companies like MAZDA, These drive fantastic, they're also fun to drive, versitile and much more. I always see people complain about there audis mercedes and bmws saying things like there cars eat to much gas, the tire wear to fast, the engine makes to much noise, the technology is frustrating, but people who own there mazdas say it's fun to drive, easy to maintain and the grille is unique. In my Opinion STOP comparing $55,000 cars to $25,000 it's POINTLESS!
Tyler DiCicco yes it is somewhat of s gas guzzler. of course I tend to gun mine when leaving the line at the light. that might be why I go through a few gallons in a week and half instead of 2 and half. either way fun to drive.😀
I'm aware this is an old video, but given my family has just bought one of these I really appreciate your thorough and easy to follow review and demonstration on all the cubbies, nooks and how everything folds and stows away - I feel like I know the car before we've picked it up :)

I wish we received the diesel model in the US. It's a good car but 50mpg would have made it a lot more popular I think :p
