I owned this exact car in silver. One of my favorites, very versatile but fun to drive.

Just bought a 2014 Mazda 5 with the 6 speed manual. Never had a car this useful yet genuinely fun to drive before. It is really fantastic. What a shame they are discontinuing this model next year. I test drove the CX-5 before I decide on the 5 and it just was no contest. Sure, the CX-5 looks cooler, but the 5 has it beat everywhere else. It outhandles it by a wide margin, it has much more interior room, it's far more comfortable, at least it was for me, and if you want a manual on the CX-5 you're stuck with the 2.0 liter Skyactiv which is not up to the job, even with a manual it is very sluggish off the line. Despite having similar hp and torque numbers and similar weight, the 5 with the older MZR 2.5 poops allll over the 2.0 in terms of acceleration and driveability. Much better low end torque, it moves out pretty well. Just a great car, but alas it doesn't have the cool trendwhore SUV look so America, forever more interest in image more than substance, doesn't dig it and would rather have a poseur SUV that's worse at everything except for ground clearance that 80-90% of people will never use. *sigh* I would have loved to have seen a Kodo design Mazda 5 with a 2.5 Skyactiv motor and a 6 speed manual....but the world will never have such a thing because the dopey SUV trend marches on. It would be more forgiveable if Mazda would at least produce a proper station wagon 3 to replace the Mazda 5. The truncated hatchback is TOO SMALL and not everyone wants to sacrifice handling and practicality to drive an SUV.

the 2009 design is so timeless and still holds up today. the 2010 design was the kill switch for this car. dont know who designed it. instead of making it even more sporty they did the reverse. this is one of the best versatile cars with sporty drive, design and longevity. MAZDA please bring it back with 2021 tech !!!

Had the Mazda5 for a year, so far, no issues and it's been one of those no hassel car that I've owned. It would be nice though if Mazda came out with a Speed5.

Best car I have ever purchased overall. The only issues are in the long-term with wheels. It is a low profile car so expect suspension, tire wear issues. Yet it is minimal compared to other cars that have major, more costly issues.

Regarding low maintenance costs and reliability, I'm reading more positive things about the Toyota Matrix than the Mazda5, so I'm leaning more towards the former right now.

My concerns with the one I'm looking at are the relatively high mileage, rust that has developed under the hood, and a relatively lackluster Carfax history. Also, it's priced at $7,300 for a 2010 model 0_0
Other than that, I'm thinking it might very well be the right car for me.
Thank you for the conversation :D

Reminds me of the 1st gen honda odyssey size. Although it had regular sedan type doors instead of sliding. I can see how this would be a popular car.

The most recent generation switched over to a smaller 1.6 liter Peugeot turbodiesel that's a lot less powerful, but it'd still be a nice option to have.

Gonna repaint mine as I bought it used from a second owner and it a matt black color.
