Awesome information! I like how you explained step by step on how to help the child. Thank you for your video's. It's helping me to learn more and understand the ABA therapy.
I just got hired as an ABA therapist. I haven't started training but have heard from you and many others that training is rushed and many don't recvieve a sufficient amount before starting with a child. What could I do to prepare to the best amount possible despite typical minor training? What would you reccomend I do in the past? Thank you and very helpful video.
I am so glad you are looking for ways to do things better! I would recommend learning from autistic adults on IG. Honor the individual’s abilities and be an advocate for your clients. Be mindful to speak up to your supervisors when they assign goals that are not neurodiversity affirming- I.e. forcing eye-contact, changing the way they play, taking favorite toys/items in order to promote “compliance”. And most importantly, always PRESUME COMPETENCE! ! If you event have more questions don’t hesitate to reach out to me via instagram also.
@@mightykiddos I am an adult Autistic person, your child is not a dog and even dogs I think you should be treated better. this video explains very well the problems of ABA and what is better. edit: forgot to place the link ruclips.net/video/_I-gffm3ehQ/видео.html
Thank you for sharing on here, I agree there are much better ways to help autistic children. I always welcome autistic voices as only you guys truly know how we can help you and treat you guys with the respect you deserve 👍🏽.
@@mightykiddos Thank you for listening, I recognize it is not easy to raise autistic children and most parents want the best for them. Iḿ in my 50ties and suffering mental and related physical problems due to the way I was conditioned, small things that seemed harmless in most peoples eyes but accumulating before I had any diagnoses to an autistic shutdown and could hardly proces any contact with people and I wish that on nobody ( and NO mr jordan peterson autistic people don't hate people, it just takes a lot of our energy but love to connect with other people)
It truly upsets me how misunderstood autistic people have been. I’ve learned so much from the autistic community that share their experience and educate others on what it’s like to live as a neurodivergent person. There is a lot of work to be done still in order to better support and acceptance neurodivergent people. And I agree, autistic people don’t hate people! In fact they are honest, kind, loyal, and affectionate! I have many fond memories of autistic kiddos being affection and friendly to others. I’m truly sorry you weren’t treated with respect, but please know that you are perfect as you are! There are many people out there ( not nearly enough though 😣) that are working hard to make change this 🌍 to better serves you guys 😘!
