I wish I see your video sooner.. my baby now 9 months old and still eating porridge because his gag reflex still in the front of his tongue. He never chew anything until now.. I see the red flags (if I can say) that my baby doesn't like to chew such as teether when he's 4 to 6 months old (even until now)
It is never late, you can try these exercises and also work with chewy tubes, even if she refuses, 5 min a day it’s enough to start activating the system. If not I would highly suggest you to speak with speech therapist / early intervention therapist or occupational therapist. If you need more specific guidance kindly contact me. Thank you for watching :)
Hey Miss Lisa Please recommend the exercise for 4 month old baby with higher narrow arch palate and not taking bottle and poor weight gain with breastfeeding.
I suggest you check with a speech therapist and occupational therapist or early intervention therapist that can guide you with more exercises to help your child.
Thank you. A lot of sounds and music around. A lot of repetition of simply words like mama, papa, baba... use very simple words to indicate: bye, hi, good, up , down , no, stop. Use vibration, like a electronic toothbrush to work on tongue and inside of the mouth.
I experience discomfort while speaking, especially with words that include the 'd' or 't' sound, as my tongue hurts. I feel like my tongue is solely responsible for speaking, with no tension felt in my lips. It seems like total control during speech is solely on my tongue. Could you suggest some exercises to correct this problem?
Did you check this with the speech therapist? I would suggest you to find someone who specializes in oral motor skills! General face massage outside and inside of the mouth can help you.
Hello Lisa, My baby is almost 3 months and has Prader-Willi syndrome, and even though she is now drinking all her bottles without the need of the feeding tube, her suction is not too strong. Any tips?
Hello, I am happy that she is drinking , but in order to mature such skill you need a lot of repetition. Use vibration toys to reinforce the face tone and continue providing her different bottles so she keeps practicing.
Hi, thank you for the comments. For any child with any Age this exercises are super good. Independently what is the age if the oral motor area is not developed yet we must to work on stimulation of the mouth inside and outside. Thank you
my baby is 6mos n has been learning to eat for more than 2 weeks, problem is his entrusion reflex goin so strong he cannot swallow or bring any food willingly to his throat. even when I spoon water. he couldn't suck from straw too. will this therapy helps? how many times perday should I do this to him?
Try to use very small amounts, don’t bring food or liquids in front of the mouth, try to give it from the side, on the cheeks. You can do it 2 times a day. , I hope this will help you.
Hi Ma'am Lisa how are you hope your doing fine. I would like to ask some help for my son. To learn or enhances his swallowing. His name is Axl his already 1 year and 6 months his actually has global developmental delay. Part of his delay is his swallowing he has defaulty swallowing food. Hope you can help us. Ma'am Lisa Shchyhel thank you
Good afternoon, thank you for your message. In order to start working on swallowing, at his age is the best to work on the exercises that I am showing you on the video, and start introducing what we call “chewy tubes”, for him to chew. He has to improve his chewing without food in order to start working with the food . Check also if you child gags or vomits during meals. If yes, contact your occupational therapist or speech therapist for it. Thank you
Hi Lisa, my son 20 months old but always immediately spit the food out when i give him meat, chicken or fish. I don’t know whether he can’t or he doesn’t want eat those kond of foods. Do you thing he also has oral motor problem? And what should i do?

Hi Lisa......very nicely explained.... Can these exercises be told routinely to all parents so as to enhance their child's feeding behavior? If so then at what age should it be introduced?
Thank you. Yes, definitely. They can be enhanced daily. The exercises can be starting from 6 months old. Basically once we introduce the spoon, any oral exercise can be started.
Hey Lisa, my son is 4 months old now and when he was born, he was easily taking bottle and breast feed, but then when he turned 1 month old he started throwing up and completely stop taking milk. dr decided to feed him through NG tube and he is taking through NG for last 2 months. he sucking his strong he take pacifier easily but not taking bottle while awake. sometimes he do dream feeding. after doing my own research i feel he has feeding aversion. can you share some tips how i can train him to take bottle again.
Hello, thank you for sharing. Does he have swallowing difficulties? Did you try to check other bottles, different nipples, different shapes, sometimes is till the child gets use to it. Also what about the milk? Did you try ti change the milk? Before the Ng tube or after?
What is the situation now....because my daughter has also gone to heart surgery and after 2.5 months in ICU she forgot bottle feeding and taking feed through NG....Pls tell me how did u take him back to bottle
@indianengineerno1 my son is now 16 months old and has started eating well. He now eats everything. He is thriving well and @ 50th percentile in weight. We removed his NG when he turned 6 months. He was very confused for the first 2 days, when we removed his NG but then he realized that how to respond to hunger, and taking milk via bottle also give him good feeling. I also introduce him banana and then avocado when removed his NG. Now he is eating everything and buildup all the taste. His two vsd has closed and third one still there, but restrictive tissue has started building which is restricting the flow.Dr said he may not need surgery but watch him closely. I truly believe in God and blindly believe that miracle happened in his case.
@indianengineerno1 it just my suggestion that when your baby turn 6 months remove NG and try bottle feed and also introduce some fruits specially banana. My doctor never suggested us to remove NG, but my husband's friend is a doctor and he told to do so and we win it within a week. I am telling you be patient for the first two days. Your baby has forgot to suck and doesnot know how to respond to Hunger, but I hope she will learn. Longer period of NG will also delay the speech, because muscles will not develop. I also suggest to consult speech therapist they also help your baby to eat.
Hi lisa. My baby s 7 months old. She s not even drink through bottles and refuses to eat and drink. Doctor told us to do oral stimulation so v r doing for past one and half month. Can u pls guide me in a way lisa. Now the baby s in rice tube feed. I am in a frustrating mood. Plssss lisa help me

When the child start having the baby teeth normally we start working with small baby chewy tubes and we change the food gradually. Also when the child start biting, or putting toys , things in the mouth can be one of the signs. If the child has all the teeth, or part of them, sometimes the child will be grinding the teeth, or pressing to strong that you will hear the sound specially during the night- this could be another sign.

Hello Lisa , our baby is diagnosed with Infantile anorexia , will this exercise help her with this problem? Sometimes she eat good, sometimes she hold food in mounth ... Milk and solid, same thing.
Hello! Yea definitely they will help. If the child holds food in the mouth try smaller amounts, it is better to eat less but repetitive times, than big amounts but holding the food inside. I suggest you to do the facial stimulation before the food. Then introduce the food in smaller amounts. Try to play with different textures and colors. Always Better introduced food that the child enjoys + new food, small amounts!
Hi mam my son is 1 year 2 months.. he still eats only if I grind it in a mixer.. otherwise he acts like gagging.. I don't know what is happening.. but growth is good.. he speaks well.. pls reply mam 🙏
Does he drink milk or water normally? I would suggest you slowly start introducing small pieces, at the beginning is normal to gag, make sure the food is well boiled, and you use the mixer but instead of leaving it purée totally you start working on a dense mixture and step by step you will be changing his feeding.
