I’ve zigzagged or serged over cord to make longer ruffles for years as I can’t seem to pull threads without breaking. Your method looks so much neater and smoother though! Definitely adding to my bag of tricks!
yaaay, so glad the algorithm reccommended me this awesome video just when i needed it. i couldn't wrap my head around how to achieve those ruffles & now everything is so clear
Making that ruffle with the cord amazed me. I'm now wondering if the 'smashed ruffle' is done the same way, but with a cord run through both the top and bottom seams of the ruffle. Hmmmm. Some very handy info, here. (Crossing strap low so they don't show at the neck line. So obvious and I never would have thought of that!) Thank you for the video!
This will definitely be useful for making the skirt of a fashion plate I saw in which the hem was padded and the bodice goes over it with tabs extending past the waistline, similar to some dresses between the 1820s and 30s
I love love love watching your videos - you are so down to earth and helpful in your hints but most of all because I saw your underbust measurement I know you and I are about the same fit in clothes so I can see how the styles would look on me - gorgeous apparently as you look stunning in them :) thank you
I was really delighted with how well this matched some things I already had! I made it specifically for the red printed dress and the rest were just good luck 😊
Great video! I am going to cross the straps in the back of my petticoat immediately. The last time I wore it (at a ball), they were falling off my shoulder all night!
Wow what an awesome project! Thank you very much for putting this video together and sharing it :) I love the colour of the silk and how well it works with all three outfits. I am super excited to try your ruffling method because it looks like a fantastic alternative to using ye olde two rows of gathering threads, one of which will usually insist on snapping! Is that a technique they would have used in the period too?
No, they really disappear thanks to the gathering! If you had a really fine fabric it may be better to do it by hand, but I probably wouldn't bother then, either 😉
What a great, versatile petticoat. I’ve never seen a ruffle made with cord, what a brilliant idea. Three gorgeous looks and one petticoat. Bravo!
Thanks so much! I'm glad to introduce the corded ruffle to you - it's such a great, easy way to make ruffles!
So this makes it look super comprehensible and easy to do. Thank you! It was also very relaxing to watch! ❤️
I'm so glad you enjoyed it and also that I was able to share how easy this is. You can totally do it!
Very pretty! 🤗💖

That grey-green color is yummy! And versatile, win-win!
You have the MOST delicious color sense!
the petticoat itself is lovely, but omigosh--the fashion show at the end!! what a beautiful set of ensembles!!
Thank you so much! I'm happy it fit in so well with so much of my wardrobe!

That was my favorite too! They were all lovely, though, I'm definitely feeling inspired

Are you hiding a vintage sewing machine in that cabinet?
Those mules are to die for!
I love the colour, it's so beautiful. And suits you so well!
Gorgeous! I am still learning to see but one day I will be able to do this.

Is your first robe made from a knit material? ❤ the casual look of it.
The cord is such a neat trick, never seen that before. I guess you can't really see the machine stitches with the fabric being ruffled, right?
No, they really disappear thanks to the gathering! If you had a really fine fabric it may be better to do it by hand, but I probably wouldn't bother then, either 😉
Would this be suitable for the 19-teens high waisted styles?
