What got me into periphery was the chord fluctuations in facepalm mutes chorus, same with all new materials but to me, periphery is best "in my opinion" in the chordy refreshing sounding riffs.
I find this chorus beautiful: the chords progression, the rhythmic accents and how Spencer melody really piece everything together with some breathtaking vocal harmonies... Just 👌

@@expletiveggI hated his vox on P1 mostly because I had heard all the instrumental stuff and when the album dropped I was bothered by how whiny he can sound. It’s just the nature of his voice, if you can get over your personal tone preference and listen to his abilities and techniques, his control, his range, it’s just crazy. Dude is one of the best vocalists out there but people hate on something he cannot control - his vocal resonant range.
The chord progression in "Wildfire" is actually directly pulled from "The Event"
Both of the new tracks have a handful of Juggernaut callbacks which I absolutely LOVE.
Songwriting tips, clips of you playing guitar, clips of Crusade playing live, even reposts of funny moments from your podcast or past videos are all great ideas for shorts, I think.
Also, really enjoyed both of these singles personally. I'm a fan.

Prog is not for you, brother. If Periphery seems stagnant/stale throughout a song, then you need to look elsewhere. Obviously you have heard some songs from their previous albums; however, they have an insanely wide-span choice of styles/songs for many prog/metal listeners.

My IMMEDIATE thought for this song was Blood Eagle, really just feels like a part 2 of that song to me. Lots of elements of Juggernaut sprinkled into these two singles for sure as well.

Wildfire is nuts. One of my favorite Periphery songs. I’m not a Periphery fan though, I respect them more than I like them.

For shorts i think it would be a great idea to something akin to Rick Beatos quick lessons. he gives quick like 30 second music Theory lessons and usage of Melodic contour, Harmony, modes, ect. I think that would be cool maybe with a production spin or with guitar techniques.
YES you recognized the riff from The Event! I immediately noticed that. I kinda love how I noticed a few sections off this new album that reminded me of Alpha/Omega. I'm so glad to hear you instantly pick up on that, too.
I also immediately remembered the part from the event! I love that part. I think it's really cool that despite being really complex they kinda call back to old parts because you're already hooked on a song that hasn't come out yet.
Honestly for shorts I love to see music theory and maybe even just showing some of your favorite parts of different songs and briefly analyze them.

SHORTS IDEA: Do a before and after where you "fix" a part of a song. Play/sing the original part, then play/sing it with whatever change you would implement to make it better. It could even be a mix change like you did using that plugin with Blackwater Park. Before and after.

Crusade's newest single is exactly the direction I wish Periphery developped into. Like, Betrayal would easily be a top 5 Periphery song if they wrote it.
For shorts, either make them from your 'Describing Bands in One Second or Less' videos or make new ones, I cannot tell you how much I love when you do those. If you're not familiar with shorts they tend to play on a loop after they finish because everyone loves that right?

Tbh I think the song is unbelievably overrated except for the chorus and the djazz interlude. Its actually one of the weaker songs on the album especially compared to Thanks Nobuo, Dracul Gras, wax wings and atropos which are all incredible

I think "prog metal" should get out of the meshuggah rut.... it is impressive, but it has been getting old. Yes you can play ridiculous Rhythm Guitar that is very hard to replicate, but after more than 10 years it has lost the appeal of being avant garde. Lower tuning and stanger rhythmic pattern only carry you so far. It is time for harmony to come back

I respect periphery and them as musicians, but man I can't get into this much dissonance. Reminds me of how king crimson in how there's not enough melody for me to grab onto.
That jazz section absolutely kills though. Jazz and metal is something I want to explore more. Thank you scientist marries the two well but I want to see a heavier version of the two. Voice of trespass by between the buried and me does this great

I think Periphery is fun music but I just can't say I love them. I really loved the song Pale Aura and a few other songs but I've not found a song I like quite as much as that yet. But I think the problem with making long form songs is that often the theme of it repeats itself too much. Wildfire at times definetly seems a little samey to me at times. Not bad, bit nothing revolutionary either.
