      October 2020. Loving this interview. Letterman and Boy George having so much fun. Both on the same wavelength. Saw him live in Toronto - fabulous entertainer. I'm an old lady fan - used to be a young lady fan - still love him!

    I have the outmost admiration for this amazingly talented artist and yes that man has brass balls!! To be the way he was in that era,having accomplished what he has and to have stayed true to himself up until today qualifies Boy George as a true icon...

      The 1970's were far more flamboyant and eccentric than today!! I'm the same age as George and we had Bolan, Bowie, Roxy et al. Great days. The English always used to break the norm...But all credit to him for facing his Dad!!

    I'm only half way through this video and I gotta tell ‘ya... for Letterman to put on that jacket is very magnanimous, gracious, polite, and terribly forward thinking of him to agree to do this... and on camera is absolutely tremendous, it speaks volumes.... I didn’t think he was going to do it, then I thought he was just placating the Boy..... this shows him in a new light. I didn’t think he had it in him....Bravo Dave!! Also I love the Boys’ first line...”....I’m not messing around this time...”... I screamed and almost fell out of my chair....

    I was one month shy of 18 when this aired. I was a total Madonna, Depeche Mode, Soft Cell, Duran Duran, and Boy George fan. The 80s were epic!

    I can't believe how young he was.
    Culture Club was really popular, then imploded, and I'm thinking it had alot to do with a backlash and homophobia. I mean, that was the early-mid 80s.

    I'll never forget the time Boy George asked me if I had any cocaine at the Bowery Bar in Manhattan waiting by the bathroom by himself in the afternoon. It was very sad to say the least. I'm glad he cleaned up his act and I will never hero worship again.

      I think that was from an MTV or VH1 doc. Jon Moss shoved lit rags under Georges dressing room door, and George said, "Hes trying to burn me alive" George and BillyIdol are fantastic Tweeters. Both very polite and kind.

    I personally feel Culture Club ended up being about Boy George. The rest of the guys became a backdrop of sorts. George knew as the media and public knew, it was about him. He was the centrepiece. He is witty here but I often wonder about the rest of the band.

    Letterman caught crap for his occasional snarkiness, but he wasn't snarky with George in any of the interviews I've seen. Dave didn't suffer fools gladly... and he realized early on that George was no fool.

    Such an "under dog" if you WILL, in that era; and yet he is still relevant TODAY! The fact that he spoke so eloquently at only in his young twenties- wow- watch interviews nowadays off 23 yr old celebs and notice the difference!

    Many people blame Waking Up With The House On Fire the album to be the start of Culture Club's decline but the thing is especially in America, they were actually quite frightened by George and wanted him to just be this cuddly soft doll like not real man which is what he really is. I persoanlly LOVE this interview as he is so wicked and camp but the mainstream didn't want that

      I love the ballad "Mistake Number 3" from that album...It should have hit top 10 on Billboard...George's voice was really nice and the arrangement was perfect.
