The Phil Up Gaming I hate the ending to this game. FF7R should have ended in a more subdued and introspective manner like The Last of Us did. Not with some over the top, absurd and megalomaniacal boss battle. After the Motor Ball fight on the freeway. Barret & Cloud should have said to Aerith. “You’re free from Shinra imprisonment now but you’re far from safe. The safest bet for you now is to either find the Promise Land of your people or join up with Avalanche HQ.” And as for Barret it is completely out of character for him to just completely abandon his quest to take Shinra down and destroy the Mako Reactors of Midgar. They’re all over here acting like they’ve had some major victory when 6 of the 8 Mako Reactors still stand and Avalanche only destroyed two of them because Shinra allowed it. Pathetic... Barret should have refused to join the others on a quest to hunt Sephiroth and said to Cloud and the others... “I’m not going with you. Sephiroth is your mission Cloud. Shinra is mine... It’s long past time I made peace with Avalanche HQ. And it looks like they may now be more open to my way of doing things...”
The Phil Up Gaming no one’s whining. Those Whispers of Fate added nothing to the story. They were like an expression of toxic fandoms in an actual video game. Look at every scene that they are in. It’s pure padding. I wanted to mute or block them like we can do on social media. There is no way that you can honestly claim that Sephiroth was as well established in FF7R as he was in FF7. I feel sorry for all the people playing this game that have no history with the original. They haven’t played Crisis Core. They don’t know who that guy with black hair and the Buster Sword is. So seeing Zack Fair means nothing to them. They should have made two game modes. A Veteran’s Mode for players of the original. Where they can throw in all those callback and flash forward scenes. And a New Recruit Mode for people new to the franchise with all those kind of scenes edited out. What the hell is Barret talking about? I don’t recall Sephiroth saying that he wants to destroy the world. Except kind of in the Temple of the Ancients in the original game. But he didn’t say anything like that here.
The Phil Up Gaming shouldn’t a stories ending in some ways parallel it’s beginning? This story begins with a mission to save the planet from being bled to death by Mako Reactors. And it ends with them abandoning that clear and present danger. And global level cataclysmic threat. To go on some, “Where is Waldo?” Hunt for Sephiroth... I can’t stand that ole trope of, “Just listen to the wizard 🧙♂️ or witch.” Aerith over here trying to prop her big brother Sephiroth up as the real threat. And have everyone turn a blind eye to Shinra who created Sephiroth to begin with. It’s funny that this game is all about multi-tasking in battle but Cloud and the gang don’t seem to know how to multitask irl... Sephiroth has always been nothing more than a distraction from the true threat to me. A little boy who wants so badly to be taken seriously and be in the spotlight. Just like Cloud. If Sephiroth is defeated Shinra will still be around killing the planet - far from softly...
I really liked it but I think I disagree on being able to just stop after motorball and continue the second part to keep the old. From what I've looked into and what I think is that they will have the same frame work but the og ff7 is the only way you're going to get that exact story, this i think is going to go in a slightly different direction due to defeating the harbingers. I'm super excited for it but its going to be interesting how they go story wise from here.
I just realized... Every time Sephiroth has died, he learned from his past battle and changed drastically The first death came when Cloud impaled him, and threw him off into the lifestream. He gained his hatred for Cloud, and developed a god complex His second death came at the hands of Cloud's Omnislash, which required a lot of time to develop and master His third death, however, required the use of Omnislash Version 5/6 since he *learned how to counter Omnislash, as seen in Advent Children extended when he managed to parry and counter it* And now this incarnation, fresh from the memories of Advent Children in this new timeline, utterly dominates Cloud but no longer even wants to kill him in a sort of Batman/Joker relationship He still has his god complex, but he's slowly becoming more and more insidious and terrifying with every appearance
He didn't write it but he sure influenced it. Nomura was the leader of the creative side. But it was all approved by Kitase (original's director and producer of the remake). It was definitely a group effort and no one man is to be blamed should it go to shit. Imo people should wait to see part 2 before they start crying. The main scenario may still be quite true to the original.
hullmees666 I just wanted the remake to follow the actual story like the original and not pull this KH bullshit. I don’t want timeline nonsense in FF7 especially since I didn’t get to play the original
@@mrcrazy7865 well part 1 didnt leave out any part of the story from the midgar section. just some changed dialogue (usually for the better), added whispers and the fight after the one on the motorcycles. If they continue this way (highly probable, no matter what the purists say) with some added things you dont miss out on anything from the original. Let's wait and see. Nomura isnt doing this alone and answers to the original's director. That being said there is a chance that they will fuck this up, but seeing how they treated this one i'm not that concerned.
One Winged Angel never sounded so intense, though I like how Hamauzu didn’t fully do the entire theme, I want to do another video on it soon. Now they can still have the full song in the final battle with Sephiroth!
The Phil Up Gaming You should! I also really liked how they tease you for two phases, like what they did with JENOVA, before giving you the real song. It’s so satisfying, and it makes the fight all the better
The first time I heard the remade version of One Winged Angel I was a little puzzled why was the old portion at the back. After playing the game I realised it's because the fight has different phases and it totally suits the whole fight up to the cinematic part.
Not true hardcore fans that owned FF7 since 1997 and bought every other console, pc release of the game over the years and replayed it countless times. For me remake is a lovingly crafted masterpiece. In the original game this sequence before the world map and insert disc 2 was always my favourite.
This is not a remake, for what I understood anyways, its actually a part 2 or reboot because it doesnt stick to the original, thats what the ghosts are, fans expectations and keeping true to the original, the 'destony' they fight at the end, I didn't play the origibal so maybe I'm talking shit, be kind, but apparently Aerith is from another dimension, she is re doing the jorney for some reason, this is like a parallel universe to the original
Totally! It brought me back to being a kid and it literally was the final battle but then with several new things like your other favorite characters joining in on the fight, so much fun! Advent children and final fantasy vii combined, felt like I was 14 again!
@@PhilipHarts have you watched the Easy Allies Spoiler Mode with Max Dood? He has a HUGE CRAZY theory about the ending and how the next parts of the remake will progress that had me just stumped and questioning my reality lol Also with all the Advent Children references you caught I think you'll like it! Great videos, awesome to have your pov as a film maker (I was just blown away by the visuals all the way during my playthrough)
Just watch most of this playthrough amazing new sub here amazing I didn't thing to stop and make epic scene like that I also do videos take a look if your interested thanks stay
When slowed down like that, it's amazing to see with the animation that Cloud really counts on the momentum of his sword to carry him through a lot of his movement.
The Phil Up Gaming while it could be the whispers, I think that Aerith noticed Sephiroth specifically due to the musical choice at that moment. Sephiroth’s theme literally interrupts the beginning of the game.
You hit the nail on the head with the StarWars comparison. I'm 1000% more willing to accept and try to understand a re-telling when the original creators come up with a way to do it. Also, the fates, the hooded ghost things, were conceptualized in the original but eventually scrapped. It's possible we're finally getting the TRUE vision of FF7
Tbh I know people are comparing this to KH. Which is not what you need to be doing. KH to my knowledge has been more about different worlds shit. This has time traveling which square been known to do. Like isn't every best square game that we know of incorporates time traveling elements into it. Chrono trigger, FF1 ,FF8 and FFX all had time traveling in it. If anything this came off with chrono trigger vibes. This FF7 remake is the chrono trigger 2 we never actually got. Even tho the story has nothing to do with chrono trigger. The game just felt like what that game would of been if square re-open it.
@@Montai . They probably mean Tidus travelling from Zanarkand to Spira 1000 years later. But that's a misconception. The original Zanarkand existed 1000 years ago sure, but Dream Zanarkand, where Tidus is from, is concurrent with Spira in the present.
thank you so much for clarifying that nomura directed and nojima wrote. everyone has been saying nomura ruined everything but, in terms of directing, i am blown away by the work he's done here and i have full confidence that nojima will deliver an incredible story with love and respect for the original he created
@Gestridens Its the job of the writer to tie all those elements together in a believable way though. Nomura is very much an idea man at heart, always coming up with stuff he wants expanded on. Its his MO hence why Kingdom Hearts often has something new added pretty much every game and a reason why FFXV took too long and was handed off to someone else. As someone who used to write, its actually very hard to come up with new story elements and tie them together neatly
no if you think it was all nojima....then youre fucking high. the director has final say in most things. so nomura fucked this up for sure. its so fucking obvious with this kh bs
Assuming they expand on Sephiroth's character, there is a lot to deduce based on how Cloud is portrayed in Remake. In conventional screenwriting, good practices dictate that the protagonist and antagonist share themes in order to bind them to stakes in a way that is meaningful to each other. That way, each time one character develops, there is deep contrast with the other character. It works backwards and forwards, and functions to deepen inspection into character dynamics with hindsight. I think that screenwriters of various disciplines out there will get a lot of mileage from picking apart Cloud and applying what we know about his character versus the very few tidbits we know of Sephiroth, including OG canon. For example, Cloud being someone who, at his core, deeply desires acceptance. He desperately wants to be cool, but ended up lonely as a result of his inexperience and lack of self-esteem. Think about that. What's one of the most interesting things Sephiroth has said in OG FF7 before he has his Jenova revelation? He talks about Hojo, the lack of brilliance, and his admiration for Professor Gast. He talks as though Professor Gast was someone who he could truly share knowledge and views with, versus Hojo who he basically says is just a hack (despite multiple instances in the game making it seem Hojo is almost always right haha). Reading between the lines, Sephiroth basically reveals over the course of the early Kalm flashback that he was lonely. He didn't know what he was, just that he was different and his knowledge, versatility, and role in life alienated him from his surroundings. If you give Sephiroth of this timeline perspective from Sephiroth from Advent Children timeline, what do you think would happen? How do you think his perception of Cloud would change? Just look at the scene composition and dialogue delivery (both in english and jp, because there are differences) in the finale at the edge of creation. After the initial shots doing the remake-standard-flair of showing Sephiroth from Cloud's eye-level, the camera zooms out over the course of the scene, eventually settling behind Cloud and placing their head heights at the same height for the first time since the game started, and perhaps ever in the contexts of all games/media that has come before. All for what? To level with Cloud in a way that is uncharacteristic of OG FF7 Sephiroth. It's a measure of respect that is completely new and a breath of fresh air. Afterall, Cloud rose to his challenge and faced him at his strongest. It's the complete catharsis of his rant in Shinra Mansion's basement, accusing the world's people of being cowards for hiding and surviving while the Cetra died off. Were it not for the context that we have access to as veterans of FF7, it would be your bog standard "join me" cliche. There's something more here, for sure, and I look forward to the theories people like Phil and Maximilian_DOOD come up with. God, I really hope Max and Phil get to do a video with each other. Characters drive story, and of all the content creators I've seen thus far, Max and Phil get it. They just get it.
@@enyaliosares4301 It actually depends on what you do during the Whisper fight. They get ranked based on which characters abilities/spells/limits you use more often.
@@enyaliosares4301 I looked it up and tried it out and I always got the characters I wanted. And since you saved Aerith's MP, it means you didn't use many spells and/or abilities with her, so she wouldn't appear. And Tifa and Aerith have priority over Barret so if you let those three do nothing at all besides basic attacks, Tifa and Aerith should appear. But that would make the fight needlessly drawn out.
They're mostly just idiots, seriously. They're also selfish and seem to think the game belongs to them and is only good if it is made the way they want it. They also fail to appreciate the amount of work and thought that was put into the remake. Playing this game, i found myself really happily surprised by the amount of effort put into it by the creators, it shows! There are some places that the game falls a little short, but its definitely not story telling or cinematics.
@@daesong1378 actually yes. It's exactly about the story and cinematics.... How are you people not getting this already? No one likes the harry potter ghosts. NO ONE. You do realize having 'plot twisting ghosts' invade in on your story takes away from the main focus of the ACTUAL events in the story? Now instead of remembering a chase scene with Cloud , Aerith and the Turks, people will now remember a messy church room filled with harry potter ghosts. This is an absolute perversion of the original scene (which was originally comical since it involved dropping barrels on soldiers).
Watch the Easy Allies spoilercast with Maximilian Dood. It's gonna blow your mind with the hidden stuff about the ending and Whispers. It made me LOVE the ending!
Thank you. So tired of "Nomura is ruining this with his KH fetish" and I've run out of energy to explain the difference between "Nomura is directing" the original writing team wrote it. People just like to whine. It was recently said that they're going to do the old scenes and that just because it's a remake doesn't mean it's not going to be FF7. They just shifted it so people like us that played it before can experience the story of FF7 with new eyes. I love not knowing what's going to happen. I have my thoughts. So many thoughts lol. I feel like it's going to be a "you think you can change fate, but things will still find a way to correct what you change". So the scenes may happen but maybe in different contexts. Can't wait for part 2.
I really love the remake. I love that they make you THINK. After I finished the game I spent at least two days just digesting everything. After that I watched some streamers play throughs and I was still picking up story tidbits that made me go "OHHH so thats why..." As far as changing fate goes, It made me think of steins gate, which is also a great anime. If you aren't familiar with that anime, basically the MC tries to save someone but it usually causes someone else to die, it drove him to despair as he replayed the same day over and over again and watched the girl he tried to save die endlessly.
I loved the remake. All of it! I think it's a great move and it stresses the desire to both give fans what they want and give them what they don't realize they want. fans wanted a remake. and back when the game came out, they wanted Aerith destiny change, and they also wanted a proper sequel. Square-Enix just gave us all three wishes rolled up into one. Thank you Square Enix! I personally believe, the sephiroth battle at the end mirrored the original because they wanted to take nostalgic fans to the end; they brought us our remake and gave us the original ending battle, but then they flipped the script. Cloud LOST that battle. After that scene, we see the wheels of destiny changing slightly. Zack's alive. Biggs is alive. the dog picture is different. We are in a different landscape. What you say in your theory of them going back to that battle is intriguing but at the same time, they may do something entirely different. They gave us the original game ending that we know but, at the last second, changed the outcome and now, we are in unmarked territory. for people who say they've undid the original, they clearly have not. Based on What sephiroth says about destiny- he clearly experienced the original game and its outcome, and now he's continuing on to rewrite history. In his efforts, some side-effects are, Cloud and company are changing in ways they never did originally. In my opinion, this is not a retelling so much as a continuation of the story using a divergent reality that Sephiroth has just created. I hope they employ elements of the original story as it unfolds, like the events of Nibelheim. but I also hope they go in a new direction and give us something we have never experienced before; something great perhaps even surpasses the original game. sorry for my long-drawn out commentary. I've loved this game since it came out in 97 and this game has only expanded that love for me. Thanks for your review, it was great to watch!
"You're not respeting the artists' vision" that's a great, essential point. I have seen, even people close to me, just going ham because "this wasn't necessary" or "there is no point in remakes, if a product is done it is done, there is no need to forceful expand on it" which to me is a rather superficial take. Even if you didn't like the game, you cannot deny it was made with love, care and devotion to the original. And this one cannot be a cold commercial product, otherwise they would have avoided any risk and made it 100% safe and faithful, but to me this is clearly just creators intent and a personal objective. On top of it its a bold objective, one I cannot but respect. I believe this game is 70-80% faithful, and that 20-30% that may not be and I "gave out", I got back in so much more: new sides, new deep dives, new speculations, all stuff I am very grateful for. In a way they did not recreated your first time with this game, but they recreated the experience of going through the original. Thank for your vid, can't wait to see a more in depth-discussion or even interviews!
Love that in Advent Children Tifa said they werent as strong as there were back in the game but Cloud was so they didnt fight .. now that this is the game they have the will too fight and fight like its Advent Children.. its PERFECT .. imagine once all the parts are out we actually get a new movie 😍😍😍
@@Prime92 would work for me .. they can go anywhere with this ..they cant drag the game out too much but we've had Sequel and Prequel games before .. wouldnt surprise me if Advent Children becomes playable
I love how passionate you are about every little detail about the Remake's cinematics. Every lightning, every attack on slow motion, the scenery, the music and the characters. Everything looks amazing. And this is only the first part of the journey. From a story standpoint, Aerith fighting Sepiroth make this fight more deep and engaging. Two Cetras, the last remants of the Ancients, fighting for the fate of the planet. One is triying to protect and the other is trying to destroy it.
Thank you so much! I can’t hide my passion for final fantasy, especially vii as we’ve never seen it look anything like this with real people. Great point. I felt some crazy feelings too as Aerith showed up to fight Sephiroth.... what a dream come true. Adds more weight to the battle for the planet.
I actually really did enjoy the Advent Children version of One Winged Angel. The combination of the rock, orchestra and the choir just made it all so great.
The issue i have with two timelines is that they HAVE TO converge for it to matter, my theory is that the party exited the singularity into the changed timeline. that way the party can meet Jessie(if she's saved) and the ending actually mattered - character-wise. Why have a different universe with zack alive? that doesn't matter unless they're going multidimensional Sephiroth that has to be defeated by both Zack and Cloud... which ngl i'd like to see but its going WAY off into the woods. Complexity for complexitys sake
@@chainclaw07 I think it will go that way because just defeating Seph like in OG isn't enough to kill him because he can resurrect himself through Cloud's memories (read Lifestream: Black). OG is the bad ending, all of Humanity dies off 500 years in the future because Sephiroth remains in the Lifestream after AC and either influences or corrupts the desires of the planet into killing off Humans. Imo it will go down one of two ways, either Zack and Cloud team up to defeat Seph and Zack sacrifices himself to entrap and isolate Seph in the Lifestream or Cloud sacrifices himself so that when Zack kills him, he cannot reconstitute himself. At that point the timelines converge, nothing else changes; Aerith is still dead and all of the other events still happened. Not sure if Cloud would exist in Zack's timeline in the same fashion or at all; Zack may be forced to kill him earlier in the story due to Seph controlling him at ToA, CoA, or at the Norther Crater. Also, I don't think it is multiverse or alternate timelines, its a divergent timeline due to Zack not dying; like in Back to the Future, the event causes a tangent timeline, just one. That would clean up the messiness of "what about Cloud in other timelines if Seph transcends the influence of space/time".
31:06 Uematsu, upon hearing the version of One-Winged Angel with rock/metal infused into it by the Black Mages as delivered in Advent Children, determined that THAT genre mix was the complete form of the theme. You can look at the fan wiki page for the theme to verify that. This game only showed us a grand orchestra-/choir-driven version; as embellished and impressive as it may be, it is not the final version Uematsu intends to deliver for a final confrontation. This is only the beginning...
Yes, THANK YOU, this is how I've been trying to explain to people, I LOVED this game and I am on board, to quote the trailer when this was announced cause this carries so much weight now: 'The Reunion at hand by bring joy, it may bring fear. But let us embrace whatever it brings.' that right there, is the FF7 fanbase right now about the Remake's ending and what the people behind it are trying to tell us.
For anyone confused, there are 3 separate timelines all taking place during this game that we see. I'll probably missed some stuff because it truly is complicated but here's what I got. Timeline One - Pretty much the OG timeline which Aerith and Sephiroth both know the outcomes of and are trying to alter it. Sephiroth of course wants to prevent his defeat at the hands of Cloud and prevent Aerith from stopping his plans. Aerith wants to try and prevent all the approaching bloodshed caused by Sephiroth. The reason why we fight the literal manifestation of Destiny is because we (Cloud and Co) are trying to defy it. We get multiple hints of this from "7 seconds" which is Sephiroth referencing how long it took him to summon the meteor as one of them. It's also why Aerith was scared to walk through. "Terrifying, infinite freedom" is a double meaning to both the fact that she doesn't know what's next and the fact that she became apart of the soul stream in the OG. Timeline Two - The Past timeline but altered. The Tifa cutscene and Zack living is the demonstration of that. Timeline Three - Current timeline where FF7 Remake takes place. When people said FF7 Remake was more of a sequel than remake, they were serious. Personally I'm excited to see what's next. Couple things I want... An explanation of how Sephiroth is able to freely bypass Destiny, how Sephiroth or Aerith know the future, and what are the further consequences (positive or negative)?
I absolutely love your take on the ending! "If you want the original, stop playing after the motorcycle scene." Perfect! I will never understand how people can whine about being given more. And I think you're right, people are disrespecting the artists and their vision. I've seen some interpretations of the Whispers as being metaphors for the fans who don't want any deviation from the original. Super cool and super meta. I loved this game. And even though lots of people didn't like the ending, I think it accomplished it's goal, which was to get people talking and theorizing. Looking forward to more of your analysis! I always enjoy them.
I agree with you 100% This moves the story forward and gives us more than we ever thought possible. For people who say they will wait for all the games to come out before buying it, this is clearly a reason to buy every game as it comes out. This was a great move! Many fans were saying, it's the same story so i'll casually buy it now or later; i'm not concerned. the development team was keen to this and intentionally flipped the script. Holy cow! I love it! and the TITLE. REMAKE! They freaking REMADE THE GAME!! Once again, AWESOME!
@@Chumii22 it's not a remake. Remake is doing the same thing again. Remaster is polishing the existing product. This is either reimagining or a sequel.
@@hullmees666 though it IS a remake. Remaking the story is also in the scope of the project. The fact that people get used that remakes usually keep the original story doesn't mean it was false advertising from Square Enix. The fact that people THINK the play the completely enhanced original story doesn't mean anything.
@@AlexiosLair if they change the story (in a major way) it wont be a remake anymore. There is a reason words like reboot, reimagining and remake exist. It may still be quite faithful to the original, but it may also be competely different. If the latter then calling it a remake is in fact false advertising.
you're one of the only people ive seen point out that 'kingdom hearts storytelling' is metaphors, soliloquies, these purposely melodramatic philosophics, rather than the random nonsense people often dismiss it as being. as a big fan of the series, i wish it was more easily understood it's not trying to be a grounded and realistic story and is instead a vehicle for emotion, these crazy artistic abstractions of feelings that manifest as strange mysteries and cheesy speeches and existential questions about what it even means to Be. its far more about anime-esque fairytale whimsy that evokes reaction than characters and scenarios that could actually exist and there are still relatable people and scenarios and feelings, but they're intentionally taken to this level beyond the range of normality. i'd compare it's storytelling more to a theme park ride than any traditional medium like books or movies, very much about visuals and sounds and what the art makes you experience in the moments of spectacle. people belittle it without any consideration to that a lot of the time sadly
I LOVE HOW MUCH YOU GEEK OUT OVER THE CINEMATOGRAPHY XD Love it so much. I mean, I know it's what you do, but it makes me happy to see people so happy in their niche.
I’m really happy you liked the way they ended game 1 of the remake. A lot of FF7 boomers are saying its “not the same”. I’ve played the original and it’s a great game, but I think they improved and changed it because they didn’t want to make the”same exact game” with a new graphics and gameplay mechanic. I loved it.
Is not that ppl don't like it is just that undoing aerith death (for instance) that was crucial to the game story and how it had such emotional impact can be a dangerous thing to do. If you start reviving everyone that dies with plot devices like alternate timelines then what's the point of sacrifices? I really like the remake and it opens up a lot of possibilities I just hope they don't fuck it up.

@@MasterYoda389 So whiny and salty. The original creators want to tell their story - and plenty of fans old and new love it. Who are you to act as the authority on what is broken or not? Who are you to dictate to everyone else? Talk about arrogance. Grow up.
It's incredible how one game changed so much for so many of us around the world. This video was epic to watch as it demonstrates the nostalgia we all feel being brought into the present so well. Nerd on good sir nerd on 👍.
The ending has grown on me the more I dig into it. I'm not really worried about the next game anymore like I was right after I beat it. Also, people saying the game is short? I saw early reviewers saying they beat it in 30 hours. I'm on chapter 9 in hard mode and have 70 hours on the clock. They must have played on easy mode and skipped most of the side quests to finish a first playthrough in that amount of time.
People just finish things quicker or slower than others. I finished all of the sidequests on normal and the game took me 45 hours, but I know I was slow in certain areas and spent more time than I could have admiring scenery or looking for hidden treasure. I also spent an hour or two keeping the game on while I was cooking, which inflated the number. If I'd rushed through, I probably could have still beaten all sidequests and finished the game in 35-40 hours. Everyone just has different standards for speed. It took me 100 hours to finish Persona 5, while my friend finished in a bit over 60 hours and did more side content than I did. That's why I tend not to trust average lengths. They're very dependent on the person playing the game.
@@jarosbodytko6462 still working through getting everything and I'm at 90 hours now. Yea the game is not too short. I bet I could do a super fast run though if I skipped all the cutscenes and side quests, but that's no different from the original. I saw a dude beat OG ff7 in under 2 hours using some glitches
Finished the game around 3 weeks ago and it all hit me like a brick. Through your entire video I had goosebumps and that feeling is almost foreign. Never had a gaming or cinematography experince like I had for this game. In a way, I almost benefited from the quarantine, entire house to myself, headphones on blast, dark room, fully taking in every sense they were aiming to trigger. It's left me with gutpunching withdrawel whilst I beg for more. Gaming has and always will be one of the greatest expressions of art, none so more than this game. Enjoyed the video btw, not a lot of people will think to look at it from this perspective and appreciate the nuonces, nice work.
I liked the ending, I just don't want Nomura to make it kingdom hearts level complex story. The FF7 world is complicated as it is with the Goddess, Genesis, Angeal, projects S and G, all the head scientists, LoveLess, the now whispers, Vincent's story, Chaos and Omega, DeepGround, Geostigma. Like make all the lore that came out during the spinoffs fit together. I knew changes were too happened but a possible alternative timeline is like whoa whoa, that's final fantasy 8 territory.
@@justafan2745 well in this version of course nothing will be added cause the whole point of midgar was that it was a small piece and we didn't learn anything till the outside. Personally it kinda gave out too much in the flashes, and with the whispers looking like the robe guys, it's like all that is added on. They can cut stuff that's fine, like the stuff with the goddess from crisis core but Nomura was apart of the crisis core team, i trust in him just i just hope he doesn't make it that epic as it needs to be. The fact they remade it was enough for everyone to just be happy with it.
Honestly, alot of the expanded universe is a blank canvas now, regarding deep ground, and Geostigma, advent children, etc. It's all unmarked territory and i think that was intentional with this remake so that they can tell a full and complete story without being shackled by what's already been done. I love it!
Thank you for this video! After you're playthrough, the short immediate critique of the game literally summarized what I have been trying to explain to some folks. This remake was nothing short of amazing. Looking forward to the deep analysis!
The game is definitely mind blowing and we should appreciate we can actually see this project coming to live. Having played the original long time ago I'm happy to re-experience the story again with new plots etc. Can't wait to playt he next part. Although the original FF7 is so iconic and legendary but their maybe lots of things the original creator wanted to do but he can't. With the remake he have the chance to do this.
I love your thoughts on this. You've basically summed up all that I've been thinking about the Remake. Also, I'm thinking that maybe it's just a sequel to AC. Where it would go FFVII -> AC -> Remake.
Thank you!! That’s another reason I’m loving it, it’s remaking all of our favorite scenes while giving us a whole new storyline to discuss and to consider the finality of FF7 with, it really is a an ambitious move, love it!
That's actually a really interesting theory that's being discussed on forums right now due to the time traveling stuff. That's what makes me like the ending more, that the game isn't a direct remake but more of a sequel after AC, starting from the same point in which the OG game starts. Some people are theorising that remake sephiroth is actually from the AC film due to the powers he showed in that final fight, which really puts into perspective the characterisation of remake sephiroth in power, character traits and values.
As someone who played the Original & all other FF7 Spin offs, I must say: I LOVE THE ENDING & EVERY CHANGE MADE! It really was what deep down I've been always hoping for - Zack & Aerith somehow to surrvive. Great job Nomura and Nojima! Another Masterpiece indeed. Can't wait for the next game!
And also Biggs, Wedge & Jesse! I was reaaaallyyyy hoping for them to somehow make it through...since the Originals, actually. I shed tears when I saw Biggs being alive at the end. :')
Phil, have you seen Steins;Gate by any chance? I've seen a lot of people talking about the possibility of the writers doing something similar for this series. If you haven't seen it already, you should, but if you have, then you might get what I'm referring to, i.e. with "fixing timelines" and how it deals with "invetability." I would be overjoyed if that ends up being the twist, because it would still maintain the integrity of the original story while also being surprising even for veterans.
Loved it, Phil. Great analysis and seeing your face doing frame-for-frame what mine did through that entire sequence was both great and hilarious! My only issue with this is that I think the Nomura hate about the ending is very overblown. That said, he is still the director and this has definite vibes of his work on Kingdom Hearts. Perhaps it's entirely projected by people who hate the ending, but it definitely has that feel to it. Overall I loved this fucking game. The ending leaves me with more questions than answers which I suppose is good, but at the same time the questions I have are worrying ones that could potentially change the entire story to come. I suppose we'll see in Part 2 whenever it comes out. Edit: Just to clarify. I'd easily give this a 9.5/10 even with the ending concerns. Amazing game.
This game made me feel something so spectacular I can’t even put it into words. And I already loved the FF7 world as was. I can’t wait for the next game, this was something truly special
Every single thing you said after you beat the game has perfectly aligned with my beliefs about this game. Especially when you're talkin about how the people that are complaining should just stop at the highway and then just continue on the second one, and the people that enjoy it just get a treat. I subbed and liked your channel because of your perspective. You're an awesome dude 👍
A really small cool thing is that during Cloud's and Sephiroth's one on one battle at the edge of creation, the camera circles around behind Sephiroth, making it even more obvious as to who's going to win, instead of the camera circling behind Cloud as it did in the finale of the original game.
Definitely the first game in a long time that has had me completely engulfed in the music, cinematography, story, ect. An overall beauty of a game. As a fan of the original, when One Winged Angel started playing in the fight against Sephiroth, I think your reaction was what many of us felt. I just finished my hard mode run, and still geeked a bit during that fight
Such a cool touch that the order that the other characters come to your aid during the Sephiroth fight is dependent on your romantic choices earlier in the game. Aerith's fireball vs Tifa's Summersault!
It isn't though. I got the Tifa romance scene and yet Aerith was the one who showed up when I fought Sephiroth. Tifa never even joined. It was Aerith and Barret. I'm pretty sure the characters that appear are entirely random.
I'm sure this has probably been brought to your attention by now but a little detail when they're standing at the edge of creation, Sephiroth says "seven seconds till the end" he's in the air for exactly 7 seconds before he lands the killing blow to Aerith. What song is playing while they talk? City of the ancients.
I'm a long time FF fan, and big FF7 fan. Personally, I was really blown away by the ending. I thought it was fan-fucking-tastic, ballsy, and it also does something extremely difficult which is to bring different layers of complexity to the table that you can jump between the more you think about the ramifications and the tiny details and clues littered throughout the game as to their intentions. They also tastefully and, in my opinion, playfully, mock their own ambitions to change things up by predicting and inserting this conflict into the ending itself as a parallel meta-narrative. It's very clever, and self-aware.
I get the same Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Inglorious Basterds feeling with this whole thing. It's very homage-y while playing with your expectations
The scene where hojo is telling aerith how he dissected her mother is straight up inglorious basterds! Aeriths gasp for air as he hojo walks away is fucking amazing!
depending on which one you choose when you fall on the sewers, tifa or aerith will aid you first on the fight and it adds different cutscenes which is awesome
I don't think that's true, I just finished my hard playthrough, I picked up tifa both times in medium and hard, tifa helped me fight sephiroth first in the medium, but aerith helped me in the hard playthrough and tifa didn't show up at all, instead it was barret in the third phase.
I was doing the exact same thing you ended up doing, constantly going into tactical mode to just take it all in for a few seconds. This game is an incredible piece of art, unlike anything else I've ever played.
I can get to understand why people can dislike the ending and the destiny stuff but I would just love for them to go in open minded and even forget about the OG game for a minute and concentrate in the game they have in front. I've liked star wars since I was 6 and there are episodes I like more than others but I didn't really liked the new ones as a star wars fan some scenes made me even feel empty sometimes, but watching the movies individually as movies and not something greater I thought they were entertaining and a good product. My point is that no matter what people say it doesnt change the fact that FF7R is the definition of what a good jrpg is.
agree 100% and I loved the ending there's so many directions they can go with it I'm excited for part 2. I can see a lot of purist hating it because they change a lot of the lore and main story. I recommend that people become open minded with this game.
I love your insight into things like this as both a fan and a filmmaker. I sincerely hope that you do get to do interviews with Max and/or the cast on this channel as well. Would love to check them out!
Good point of view Phil, we don't need more hate for the great effort that the creators did for bringing us this game. I'm looking forward for the 2nd game:)
Not for nothing though - they may not actually have Aerith die. And considering how death was originally approached in the 1997 release, it may be the correct route to go here. If the goal is to remake the quality of FF7s themes, rather than just replicate them, then there is no way to recreate Aeriths death with the same impact. All characters from the original game were created and written with a role all the way to the end. They chose to kill off a character deeper into the development to better replicate what a tragic death looks like. Killing Aerith now when everyone expects that to happen would inherently give the audience a different, and lesser, reaction to the event. The same logic went into why they removed the mystery to Sephiroths power in the remake. In 2020, everyone knows who Sephiroth is. Their direction with the Shinra Building Incident is proof that they are aware of this, and they actively chose a different direction to how they would represent his character. Everything is on the table from here on out.
Knight Of ANGUISH Not sure a Tifa death would work well with the story because she’s the one that gives Cloud the strength and will to keep fighting. Without Tifa how does Cloud get his memories back as well, kinda factors into the overall plot. If both Aerith and Tifa died Cloud would be in a huge state of shock and at that point he’d be better off joining Sephiroth I feel lol crazy scenario I know.
@@knightofanguish7399 It isnt just about the shock factor that conveyed the tragedy, though. It was the fact that Aerith (and all characters) were originally written to be a part of the story all the way to the end. Because of that, you were reminded of her death in subtle ways throughout the game - you see holes in the PHS menu, in many scenes where the entire party shows up, and even if you dig deep into the debug mode, there were a lot of dummied lines for Aerith much later in the game. It was done in a way that you were made aware of her potential throughout the entire story, but it was coldly removed. That is how a tragic death is supposed to look like. Given that the game is being developed over a 6-8 year release schedule, it is going to be very difficult to build Aerith's death up in the same manner and have it hit the same notes, thematically. If we were to kill her off again, it would likely need to be done so in a completely different fashion.
this game is clearly a sequel to advent children, that sephiroth that cloud and the guys keep seeing is clearly in demeanour and behaviour the post AC sephi who's lost twice, its the only real explanation, he's come back in time to meddle with things, possibly so he dosnt 'win' or 'loose' the same way
@@oriandthesleepytime Completely disagree with the concept that her death was a necessary character motivation for literally anyone in the party. Her death was not important for the story. It was important to the central theme. Everyone else's character motivations are largely taken care of in their own arcs, with Aerith being a supporting motivation, at best.
What I love about this final battle against Sephiroth is that they combined elements of Advent Children and the final fight Cloud has with him on a metaphysical plane in the original together. This signifies how much this remake will be very much different from the original especially with that alternate timeline where Zack survives against the army of Shinra troops. This is an amazing game and I hope by latest 2022 we get part 2.
Thank you so much for your appreciation towards the FF7 Remake. It is really interesting to see all the perspectives from different sections like filmmaker, sounddesigner [...]. Really makes you appreciate the game even more. Isn't it fascinating that sound and some pictures can make us feel like our younger selves? I like that!
The part where Sephiroth warns Arith about clouded eyes before they enter the Arbiter of Fate boss fight. Makes me wonder if it's also a warning to the players for what's to come in regards to Sephiroth's goal. Zack's whole debockle makes me wonder if this is conflicting timelines playing out with an eventual collision between the two.
I like Tyler Hoechlin as Sephiroth, too, but he had shoes that were too big to be filled. Had George Newbern not have been Sephiroth previously, I feel people would've been a lot nicer towards Hoechlin. But I understand why some may not like his voice for Sephi. I mean, how can you change perfection?
I'm pretty sure the 7 seconds thing relates to when Sephiroth kills Aireth during her prayer and he does say that it's enough time for Cloud ... to save her ... also Sephiroth and Aireth know the future from the original timeline since they have been mentioning how 'this is how it goes down' also also I'm not sure but was that Jessie's glove sitting on the desk next to Biggs?
I thoroughly enjoy seeing the same nostalgia that decked me when I started playing this affect others in the same way. I totally shed a nostalgia/Aeirth tear when "Hollow" started playing at the end.
Seems like fighting Sephiroth at the end of this game allowed Cloud to move on from being literally scared of him (PTSD) to being determined to find him. A logical character arc to get him to the start of the next arc.
The scene where sephiroth has one wing and one wing angel plays hit me the same way it hit you. This is the first video I have watched that actually highlighted this other than myself in my head 👍🏻 At the end of this sequence I saved Aerith for the killing blow on sephiroth just to stick it to him for all those years of pain and replays, super powering and dialogue choice changes to see if I could get a different outcome in the original game. The remake was a masterpiece. Top tier craftsmanship and will hold prime placement in my display cabinet between play throughs.
I wonder if it’ll be back to back between the universe where Zack is alive and the universe we’re playing? That’ll be interesting, seeing how much has changed between the universes for better or for worse.
I have some theories about Zack and Cloud and Sephiroth and Aerith at the ending, I will definitely do another video talking about crazy theories, I love that we get to discuss it now!
They'll probably do Zack the same as Laguna in FF8, as Aerith's visions, which would eventually conclude with Aerith realizing that Zack (and Aerith herself) dying is still the best outcome for the planet. They'll have character moments from there, some moral dilemmas, then Aerith dies in the moment when we didn't expect her to die.
@@wishblade1 I disagree. You can see that the bringing down of the arbiters of fate directly affected zack and cloud in an alternate timeline. And Sephiroth speaks of öur world" merging with the other. So i think its clear its two time lines merging into one. WE could start game 2 with Zack and cloud rather than cloud/barrett/tifa/redXiii/Aerith. I would assume we will be interchanging time lines as the game progresses. I wonder if there will be arbiters of fate in the next game too.
The little things they do with the dialogue is amazing It goes from Cloud doing something unbelievable like defeating Sephiroth and causes the fate to explode in Zacks time but in zacks current time Clouds a grunt and he just did some real bad ass shit like taking out all those Shinra grunts himself Like "hey Cloud you see that?" But at the same time in a way at the same exact time as Cloud proves himself to be a real Hero Like both of them defying fate I cant even put it into words the right way but damn man I could watch this over and over again and every time im impressed That split second of Aerith and Zack crossing paths knowing their fate with that song playing smh I sware ta gawd it gave me chills just watching it again in this playthrough
Yes I streamed them! Releasing them in order as full gameplay in the coming days, had to get my ending reaction up while it’s a hot topic, full gameplay will continue as well as ending analysis now
Thankyou for mentioning all the justice for FF7 Remake. This game is a work of art, period. SE really paid the uber long production they've gone through. Somehow the storytelling and the characterization got me more emotionally attached to it than I was to movies, which is pretty rare. It feels to me as if I'm experiencing the events rather than just being an audience. Props to you SE! Can't wait to see what awaits in the next episode!
RUclips was pushing this vid in my face for 2 weeks, so I finally caved, and I can say I am this guy exactly XD I could look at those slo-mo shots forever (and take screenshots :p) But man, Sephiroth looked genuinely disappointed when Cloud refused to join him. I haven't played the original, but I've seen it, and to me it seems like that whole city teleported into that other Zack universe. Or should I say, the 2 timelines merged somehow. Because we see the twinkly things on Zack AND in our city, so they're definitely in the same space. If that's true, something is weird about our team not noticing Zack. Like, did only the city merge with the 2nd universe because that's where the whispers are focused and that's where fate was altered? So many questions.
From a diehard FF7 fan (lore / game / history) thank you for providing a straightforward, and logical, opinion of this game and the ending. Every other video I’ve watched, from self proclaimed fans, are either click bait or the content creator is truly dense when it comes to how they perceived this game. As well, kudos to you for pointing out something that no one else does (which drives me crazy) that the director doesn’t write the script so all of the “he spoiled the game” claims are nonsense. There may be a KH vibe with the AOF boss but the KH scripting is so different then what is presented here. I have previously posted about the edge of creation scene taking place again (with a different outcome in the last game) so it’s cool to see someone else on the same page. This game was epic.. on the flip side, I feel like you have to experience everything (specifically Advent children and crisis core) to truly appreciate / understand everything that is going on. (Which will also help you see the potential for where this game can go.). The fact that the party is facing off against advent children sephiroth (meaning he is well aware of how this story plays out) and not “safer sephiroth” (sephiroth from the original) is enough to blow your mind with potential.

The safest bet for you now is to either find the Promise Land of your people or join up with Avalanche HQ.”
And as for Barret it is completely out of character for him to just completely abandon his quest to take Shinra down and destroy the Mako Reactors of Midgar.
@@superbrian7997 Aerith was the one who said Sephiroth was the greatest threat to the planet. That's what Barret was referring to when he said that.
Every time Sephiroth has died, he learned from his past battle and changed drastically
The first death came when Cloud impaled him, and threw him off into the lifestream. He gained his hatred for Cloud, and developed a god complex
His second death came at the hands of Cloud's Omnislash, which required a lot of time to develop and master
His third death, however, required the use of Omnislash Version 5/6 since he *learned how to counter Omnislash, as seen in Advent Children extended when he managed to parry and counter it*
And now this incarnation, fresh from the memories of Advent Children in this new timeline, utterly dominates Cloud but no longer even wants to kill him in a sort of Batman/Joker relationship
He still has his god complex, but he's slowly becoming more and more insidious and terrifying with every appearance
Ok now explain him in smash bros.

I love that a Filmmaker has even stated that the Director doesnt write the story .. Yet still people will bash Nomura
On that note I loved this game .. thought it was fantastic as someone who has played all the VII games and watched Advent Children
YES, people act like Nomura snuck in that ending that took hundreds of artists to accomplish lol
The remake’s version of Sephiroth’s theme is amazing holy shit
If you didn’t get any enjoyment from the remake, you’re a lost cause....
Not true hardcore fans that owned FF7 since 1997 and bought every other console, pc release of the game over the years and replayed it countless times. For me remake is a lovingly crafted masterpiece. In the original game this sequence before the world map and insert disc 2 was always my favourite.
Dan what are you talking about? Not to be rude but I don’t see what you’re trying to get across with this mess...
Daniel Alvarez ok 😐
To be honest. This ending makes far more sense, why all charakter gather together and hunt sephiroth down. For me, this fits perfectly as an ending
I love how the final battle is you playing Advent children
Totally! It brought me back to being a kid and it literally was the final battle but then with several new things like your other favorite characters joining in on the fight, so much fun! Advent children and final fantasy vii combined, felt like I was 14 again!

When slowed down like that, it's amazing to see with the animation that Cloud really counts on the momentum of his sword to carry him through a lot of his movement.
The very opening cinematic already hints at the fact that things would be different. The fact that Aerith notices Sephiroth’s presence.
I think it was the whispers or Sephiroth
The Phil Up Gaming while it could be the whispers, I think that Aerith noticed Sephiroth specifically due to the musical choice at that moment. Sephiroth’s theme literally interrupts the beginning of the game.
@@sutekidane94 Agreed, I think she felt his presence in the Lifestream at that moment

Those haters are hating the wrong guy lol
@Gestridens oh ok i wasn't aware of that, thank you for the link 👍🏽
@Gestridens Its the job of the writer to tie all those elements together in a believable way though. Nomura is very much an idea man at heart, always coming up with stuff he wants expanded on. Its his MO hence why Kingdom Hearts often has something new added pretty much every game and a reason why FFXV took too long and was handed off to someone else. As someone who used to write, its actually very hard to come up with new story elements and tie them together neatly
no if you think it was all nojima....then youre fucking high. the director has final say in most things. so nomura fucked this up for sure. its so fucking obvious with this kh bs
@Gameboy224 Its why I said it was only one of the issues. FFXV suffered from plenty other things that held it back indefinitely which was unfortunate
I dont care, when the vocals kick in when Aerith joins the fight it slaps real hard I get goosebumps.
YES, I agree completely! It all worked out so perfectly! Soundtrack is OP, one winged angel destroys as always.
It’s random who you get. Could be any one of the three
@@enyaliosares4301 It actually depends on what you do during the Whisper fight. They get ranked based on which characters abilities/spells/limits you use more often.
Hiroyashy really? I mean, it’s still kinda random. I specifically saved all of Aeriths mana one time to be c***blocked and her not appear lol

I love everything about the Remake, it's a true masterpiece! Thanks for sharing, I love seeing all of your insights!

I agree with that theory. Zack isnt alive in their timeline and sephiroth knows his fate and is somehow trying to change it.
Agreed, it honestly makes sense
Max doods level theory makes it even better
He change the timeline saving Cloud in Crisis core, and then Cloud change the timeline again defeating Sephiroth
Sephiroth bitch is literally thanos and I'm digging it XD
Uematsu didn't work on the music in this game outside of Hollow.
Once again, AWESOME!
the problem this game has is the marketing of the game... most people play thinking its a “remastered” game when its an actual “remake” of the game

I’ve played the original and it’s a great game, but I think they improved and changed it because they didn’t want to make the”same exact game” with a new graphics and gameplay mechanic. I loved it.
Yes! Let the original artists continue their vision, not just tell the same story, any artist would want to improve on their work over the years.
Is not that ppl don't like it is just that undoing aerith death (for instance) that was crucial to the game story and how it had such emotional impact can be a dangerous thing to do.
I finished my first playthrough just under 60 hours in Normal mode and I didn’t even do all the sidequest or get every weapon. This game is not short.

That's what they're doing though. They reference and tie in all those things. Did we play the same game?
Nomura isn't the writer at all. Its Nojima. The Writer of the original FF7...
Dude, the game has like 4 core writers, and Nomura isn't one of them.
Honestly, alot of the expanded universe is a blank canvas now, regarding deep ground, and Geostigma, advent children, etc. It's all unmarked territory and i think that was intentional with this remake so that they can tell a full and complete story without being shackled by what's already been done. I love it!
'Seven seconds until the end', fun fact it took exactly seven seconds for Sephiroth to fall out of the sky and kill Aerith in the orginal.
this is actually debunked by the game
Wtf? Aeris died??
jam_northstar thats cute
jam_northstar 69 you didn’t play the original ? 😂 she dies in the original FF7 back in 1997
@@thestargazer1636 he typed aeris. he played the original. he tried to be funny.
Thank you for this video! After you're playthrough, the short immediate critique of the game literally summarized what I have been trying to explain to some folks. This remake was nothing short of amazing. Looking forward to the deep analysis!
The strings playing again when cloud is pinned down and the sword pointed at his face was so damn cool. This fight is so freaking awesome.
FF7:introduces the world to cinematic videogame story telling
FF7R: “alright now let me take a chance to re-introduce myself my name is-“
26:10 THANK YOU. Why do ppl not get this
People like to whine about pretty much everything, the fact this remake even exists is so amazing, let the artists develop their story further!
@@PhilipHarts they are ungrateful bro, you should of seen the comments i saw under max's video
@@PhilipHarts so true I will never understand this new trend of lets all get together and hate on something XD
13:57 they mimic the changing viewpoints from Sephiroth and Cloud’s last fight from the original game!
If you listen closely during the Sephiroth vs Cloud talk at the end you can hear city of the ancients playing.
yeah I was freaking out at hearing "You can hear the Cry of the Planet" such a godly song
I came across this video by accident but i loved your reasoning and your perspective through out the video. You just got a new subscriber.
The music is just so intense, the map theme is simply amazing. Part two, I can't wait!
Soon as I saw Sephiroth throwing debris at the party and Cloud slicing it and flying around I'm like, oh okay this is Advent Children now. Kay
It could be based on who the player was controlling the most to give them an ideal party, idk I just barely played as Tifa and got Barret and Aerith.
@@scissosarus7159 I had Tifa and Barret.
I got Aerith and Tifa,I really need to know how to get all different combinations tho
Wow - that's a great way to describe it! I am all for this ambitious move, I love these artists and can't wait to see where their vision takes us.
Maybe its who you spent the most time with
@@jacobsnyder7771 maybe the difficulty?
@@TheMemeXp1 It's whomever you give the most 'preference' to in all choices throughout the game.
My point is that no matter what people say
it doesnt change the fact that FF7R is the definition of what a good jrpg is.
agree 100% and I loved the ending there's so many directions they can go with it I'm excited for part 2. I can see a lot of purist hating it because they change a lot of the lore and main story. I recommend that people become open minded with this game.
"I will… never be… a memory!"
I love your insight into things like this as both a fan and a filmmaker. I sincerely hope that you do get to do interviews with Max and/or the cast on this channel as well. Would love to check them out!
Thank you! That's the plan, I hope to do a video with Max and the cast! It would be so much fun!
Let's kill Tifa then. How's that for your shock factor?
37:17 wtf this perfect timing
You said "reunion" and the background music so match up perfectly XD
i replayed the final battle series like 4 times. i didnt want it to end!
Agreed, same here, it's just too good!
I beat this so fast I didn’t get a chance to appreciate it. Thank you for doing this.
Sephiroth's voice is amazing! Tho George Newbern will always be the real Sephiroth
I liked all the voice acting
his Japanese VA is amazing
I like your original thought provoking ideas and analysis on the ending as much as Max’s. Looking forward to your review!
How do you enjoy the game when you always go into the technical filming aspect?
6:13 When you hear boss music
FF7r is not just a game, it's an adventure
Seems like fighting Sephiroth at the end of this game allowed Cloud to move on from being literally scared of him (PTSD) to being determined to find him. A logical character arc to get him to the start of the next arc.
The scene where sephiroth has one wing and one wing angel plays hit me the same way it hit you. This is the first video I have watched that actually highlighted this other than myself in my head 👍🏻
At the end of this sequence I saved Aerith for the killing blow on sephiroth just to stick it to him for all those years of pain and replays, super powering and dialogue choice changes to see if I could get a different outcome in the original game.
This is what i think...
@@PhilipHarts Great! Will tune into that!
The little things they do with the dialogue is amazing
It goes from Cloud doing something unbelievable like defeating Sephiroth and causes the fate to explode in Zacks time but in zacks current time Clouds a grunt and he just did some real bad ass shit like taking out all those Shinra grunts himself
Like "hey Cloud you see that?"
But at the same time in a way at the same exact time as Cloud proves himself to be a real Hero
Like both of them defying fate
I cant even put it into words the right way but damn man I could watch this over and over again and every time im impressed
That split second of Aerith and Zack crossing paths knowing their fate with that song playing smh
I sware ta gawd it gave me chills just watching it again in this playthrough
the colorful spacial energy area in the cosmos reminds me of what sephiroth will become soon when fused with mom. 13:09
Cloud’s landing right before fighting Sephiroth reminded me of his omnislash landing from Advent Children.
Hahah no one's trying to tell you otherwise dude!! Lolol a joy to watch you react
Loved it through and through, actually you put my feelings into words beautifully.
Did you upload any of your reactions to Wall Market or the Section 7 Collapse?
Why skip to the end?
Considering Nomura worked in tandem with the orginal director with this I have full confidence in the future.
