Been like 17 years and Alex still can’t put together a coherent sentence in an interview but can write some of the most beautiful and thought provoking lyrics album after album
I think is more related to Alex being uncomfortable doing interviews
@@abesster that but also ive always observed artists tend to ramble a lot when discussing thoughts of their own work
And for the same amount of time that comment is under every video of an arctic monkeys interview…
speaking in public isn't the same as being locked in a studio writing a master piece
he reminds me damon albarn. they both sort of speak in very similar way in interviews.
As a songwriter Alex is extremely underrated because he's not following any current trend. He is simply a musician and a music fan. I think he deserves an even bigger audience.
Some of the best don’t get the credit until they’re gone
Fr
How much bigger?
Bro one of his song got 1.5billion views and he did a Stadium Tour they are huge
@@BLUEGRASSCIRCUSyeah they're not underrated as a band, but alex is underappreciated as a songwriter, his lyrics and ways to compose are very overlooked by the general public
Alex’s the last rock star. Doesn’t even have any social media. Lives his life. Writes his songs. Does his art.
Yeah, the world needs more people like Alex.
He hasn’t made rock music since 2013?
@@JohnIGuessmaybe you should listen to body paint :) that’s rock
@@mailys1478 Rock adjacent I would say
Hope he's not the last. It's about the art and releasing it. not the media part.
He's determined to use that jacket on all the car interviews I love it
Well he is the mechanic so...
😂😂😂😂😂
With the same shades on the pocket as well...
Do you know where I can buy one just like it?
@@franciscojaviercoto7609 sadly no:( been looking for it but I've only found similars so far and not the exact one, if I do tho I'll let you know
Alex is so scatterbrained and incoherent but I could spend forever listening to him. His expressions, mannerisms, nervous energy, timidness… I am as enchanted by him now as I was 18 years ago.
I just saw him live and would have never guessed that lol he seems so articulate and clear when he sings and a lot of charisma on stage
I don't know how to say this without feeling like it's an understatement. But Arctic Monkeys really is the band of my life. I'm so grateful, honestly, SO grateful to have grown and lived (I still am tho) in the same timeline as this band. These guys have created their own sound and universe each time, flawlessly. Absolute geniuses.
What are your top 3 Songs?0❤️
♥️
Exactly how I feel!
Same, bro 😭
@@Mymoon_laaaaaaaaaadiiieeesss that's a tricky one. Do Me a Favour, Secret Door and Body Paint? Ask me again tomorrow, it'll change 😂
I don't know if people realize but Zane is literally thanked in the album notes of their debut album, he's literally been a fan and friend of these guy's since the beginning
It’s from his show where I first heard fake tales!😊
He's a shill
Even though Alex is still his vague self in some respects, this is the most emotion I've seen from Alex in an interview ever. I love how they can chat like old friends - it feels like Alex is being Alex and not just a frontman.
They are old friends :)
He did a good interview with Annie Mac too for Tranquility base, if you've not seen it, it's worth checking out.
@@3amL101 Absolutely! What I meant was, that it feels like a chat they'd have off camera. Actually feel old because I remember listening to Zane's show on Radio1.
Have u watched Jools one?
I love how zane senses people’s discomfort and anxiety and then adjusts his body language and overall demeanour to make them more comfortable
That’s a great point
great interviewer
he looks like a psychopath with that forced smile he insists on pulling
he really does. look at 6:30 when he obv (probably subconsciously) recognises alex's a little anxious... he reacts with the total opposite behaviour to counter it. he's actually a great interviewer
"There better be a Mirrorball" takes me to a place no other song has. One of the best songs I've ever heard
Stick george michael listen without prejudice on and you will hear the best songs ever written
✨...no doubt!!
Wait till you head Perfect Sense.
Like so many places, I feel like I am in a Hitchcock movie and then I am dancing on a theater stage with no audience just me and the spotlight, and the I'm driving fast through empty streets... It is amazing.
Nah
Alex’s expressions of “ you just said exactly what I’d never thought to put words to in my own head “ and processing it as he’s replying is priceless
Time stamp?
literally me in therapy
@@tigerthrifts6806everywhere
We're so used to everything at our fingertips, people talking fast, a lot of information, and Alex is just a totally out of “this” world human being. He is always giving his maximum in the interviews.
I think this is the first interview Alex has given in this press run where he felt genuinely excited to talk about his and the band's creation. Credit to Zane.
Alex has such a soothing speaking voice. Love him. So excited for the new album
Same his voice makes me feel calm and relaxed❤️
alex really loves that jacket
Much better than his Nigel Thornberry jacket 😂
and it suits him well
Thank you for letting Alex know how much we love and appreciate them ❤
You're welcome cat.
Not anymore 😂
@@allybool hold that thought Alex will cry for a bit
i love how he can’t say a single sentence without pausing and thinking and stuttering but can write some of the most beautiful music
It’s because we are so used to hearing people who open their mouths and answer by rote, giving the same bland, much-repeated answers. Al thinks about his words and constructs his sentences so that he expresses exactly what he’s thinking/feeling. And he’s brilliantly articulate in doing so.
Tranquility base is criminally underrated. I’m so excited for this album
Its been out for a few days .. its not even good
@@isaacverrall8782 didnt ask
Such a powerful album
@@DoctorGnash well you got told alright
@@isaacverrall8782 badass
this might be the best arctic monkeys interview. never seen alex turner being so comfortable and interested during an interview
I’m just a 20 year old college guy but this band makes me so emotional. Tranquility Base has been my mental escape from rougher days for some years now. I just fantasize that I’m in a retro suit sipping martinis on the moon; talking about intellectual problems and gambling. It’s peaceful to me at least haha.
Now The Car is a tearjerker. It brings out my loneliness and failed romantic ventures, but in a healing way. Thank you Alex and the Arctic Monkeys, much love.
Alex Turner is outta this world, both as a man and as a songwriter. There is smth about him that cannot be grasped. Very unique. Very genuine.
at this point zane lowe is just a therapist for musicians and artists
specific tracks Alex talks about
01:12 There'd Better Be A Mirrorball
02:25 Do I Wanna Know?
10:50 Sculptures of Anything Goes
15:03 Sculptures of Anything Goes
15:37 Star Treatment
18:35 There'd Better Be A Mirrorball
24:27 The Long Good Friday (Francis Monkman)
31:46 Mr. Schwartz
33:46 Body Paint
34:53 From The Ritz To The Rubble
From The Ritz, When The Sun Goes Down, Fluorescent Adolescent, Brianstorm, A Certain Romance…need to be on every set list of theirs! Just the first two albums as a whole 😂😂
@@RedDevil_Joe they've been playing brianstorm live and fans go crazy, just saw them yesterday here in mexico, but I would LOVE to hear a certain romance
Zane's just terrific. He interviews people like they're his friends (many of them actually are) and it gives the interview this lovely laid back energy. People like Alex and Them Yorke open up to him because even though they're not too keen on doing press, as least they know what they're getting with Zane.
I always wonder if the relentless fanboying makes them cringe a bit. He has ALWAYS done it since the MTV2 days but it would be weird having your mate gush at you non-stop. He does it so much that it comes off as over the top. I think he's a massive music fan and its authentic so its cool but man... tuck it in. Although, maybe it's a pre-requisite of being mates with A list celebs.
I like how Zane kept repeating - me as a fan, and just basically captured everything we’re thinking. Thank you for this! ❤
10 more hours and I can finally listen to this album 😩❤️😭
It’s now available on apple music and Spotify
@@Guess_who08 No, it isn't
Where you from? Maybe you can use VPN? I’m from Philippines and I’ve listened all of the songs from the album
@@Guess_who08 It's available midnight local tíme so I assume they are either from Europe or America.
@@laama2161 I see, btw the album is great 💯
I mean imagine not loving this dude, one who cannot be bothered to accept a compliment and keeps writing incredible music. truly a king
There's a similar pattern between the Monkeys' progression and the Beatles. From kind of doing a lot of stuff in a rehearsal style to becoming more and more experimental in the studio. I think it shows great maturity in sound. Excited to see where they go next
Lol, no... Please, no. Not even close. The Beatles were always good and they got better. AM are on a more or less downwards trajectory since the first album.
What makes Zane so great is that he has a way of asking questions real fans want to know.
I am literally in love with Alex Turner like I cannot describe him and I’m so glad I grew up listening to him from like middle school until now
He’s so beautiful. So healthy, Alex makes me so happy.
Alex looks so comfortable in this. This is the best interview i've seen so far for The Car. Real and genuine questions solely on the music itself. I hope Alex and the band knows just how much Arctic Monkeys mean to so many people 🫶
Agreed; Mirrorball is one of the only songs in recent memory that I fell in love with as soon as it kicked on. Such a good track
I love the little smile and relief when Alex said "Finally" at 27:13 because Zane understood the reason behind the title of the album, I love it
How can Alex go from looking like he’s in his 40s to looking in his 20s just like that it’s freaking me out
Clean shave
it’s da facial hair
@@laurapalmer2126 indeed Lmao he’s kinda hot without facial hair imo 😏
It's called not having to work mate 🤣😅
it’s because he’s actually somewhere in between
His voice now is so deep 😭I just remebered him as a innocent guy with cool personality and now his the cool man that isn't that innocent 😭😭😭😭
Well how do you know that he's not innocent now? People change with time but Alex doesn't seem to be creep.
@@LonelyEmpath-tm8yx Oh! no, I wasn't saying that he was a creep, I meant that he now has a ''dirty mind'' if I may say that? like, in one of his songs he says ''i want you in all four'' or the official videos of Arabella and Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?... there are many songs were you can hear he's not innocent AT ALL.
idk if that made sense, hope this cleared all up :)
@@Reni_0621 we all are perfect balance of innocence and guilt. Humans afterall.
@@LonelyEmpath-tm8yx that’s right! :)
listen to Beneath the Boardwalk, then you'll change your mind. this guy wasn't ever "clean" in terms of thoughts
Alexa Chung _”I wanted to the pub and Alex wanted to read the dictionary in bed”_
Explains Alex lyrical talent.
They're platonic 😊. Both are amazing. AA🔥🔥
Something that I admire about Zane is that he really listens to the music and the arrangement of it. Of course that’s his job, but after listening to the album I heard the strings and the band “competing” and if I didn’t hear Zane point that out, I don’t think I would appreciate the song as much. Taking the time to listen to every part of the song and not taking it for face value is something I would like to start doing, so thank you Zane for inspiring that.
it feels so good to finally hear about his new ideas - especially new music, can’t wait for the car
His big ideas you could say.
new music? he just ripped off David bowie ffs its boring af.
always love the turner interviews with zane lowe because you can tell theres a level of trust and knowing there that makes alex so much more at ease and makes the interview so much better
The way people go on about the way Alex talks, you'd think he suffered a life threatening head injury. I can only imagine it makes doing interviews more difficult knowing that everyone is dissecting how you speak and pointing out how you stutter. He talks just like how a lot of other artists do, and having more apparent eloquence in lyrics than everyday speech is what makes musicians musicians anyways lol
lets hope it was not drugs
@@vilke_ he's always been like that
Wait what? He just stutters a bit when talking. Lots of people have that without a head injury.
@@irissupercoolsy No yeah exactly, I agree with you. I just always see comments pointing it out in his interviews as if it's bizarre or unheard of when it is completely normal for a lot of people
@@tobybaylon1454 That's so toxic :(
His voice, his look....so handsome....🫠
The Car is literally a masterpiece, what a moment to be alive and be able to listen to it. Thanks AM, thanks Alex
alex's face at the mirrorball interpretation haha
His interviews are like his songs, you have to listen many times to get the full essence :) it kind of grows on you.
Couldn’t been said better
Growing up is realising this new monkeys sound is phenomenal. I struggled to grow into Tranq hotel but this album has stuck to me straight away. Absolutely unbelievable sounds and song writing. Bring on old Trafford next year 😅
I saw their concert last Saturday in São Paulo, Brazil, because they are my son´s favorite band. And I felt in love with their music!
Oh Alexander, you're one of a kind.
Watching this WHILE the album is out in one minute, I am so ready! Alex' voice is sooo soothing and what an amazing job Zane is doing getting him excited and interested. Such a good interview. Can't wait to see them live again.
ALEX Is so adorable and akward ans then the Bomb when he is playing!! The interviewer did a good job trying to make him feel comfortable
Crazy how big the Arctic Monkeys are and they stay so hidden, amazing group of artists!
preordered the album and i can’t wait to get it!! i’m so excited and proud of them! seeing them live was honestly a life changing experience. i wish i could’ve gone with my best friend since they’re also his favorite band, but unfortunately he passed away 2 years ago. still, i’m sure he was there with me and i’ll enjoy the album as much as i can for both of us.♡
Seeing them was a life changing experience for me too. Bless you, I’m sure they are xx
That very upset and im sorry about you loss
I hope thst you love album tbhac and i wanna believe that your friend right now sitting in the luxury hotel on the moon and listen new album and send you high five)
I JUST discovered AM.
Ang holy s. They are mind-blowing. Absolutely mind-blowing.
Before, i knew only name of band. Now i am fully invested.
They are the gift that keeps on giving!
So psyched to hear the new album tomorrow!!
Zane interviewing AM is always good. Alex is just himself ❤ I still watch the very 1st one 🤗
Thank you for letting Jacket understand how much we love him 🙌
For sure one of my favorites interviews. Love to know more about the band’s genius work and point of view on all things they can explain and always love to hear Alex talk, living legends!!
Great interview! Thank you! A few more hours! Can't wait! I bought my 1st CAR this year so when I heard the album name announced I was like no waaay, epic!
I cant believe i saw this Man live a couple days ago. Im litearlly shocked. Like how is it real. I love ihm sm bro
I'm relatively new to AM. I've only been listening to them since about the end of 2018. How they never got on my radar is beyond me. I am now a HUGE fan of theirs. I mean.... I've POURED over their albums, obsessively. I've come away with two things:
1. Alex Turner is a ROCK STAR in the true sense of the word. Almost a throwback to the great wave of British bands of the late 60's and 70's. Amazing vocalist, stage presence and he has a keen sense for a musical hook.
2. He is easily on of the best songwriters and lyrisist of his generation of musicians. I can't think of anyone that paints a more vivid picture in his writing or understands the power a poetic metaphor more than him. Even his side projects are amazing. One of my all time favorite songs is " My Mistakes Were Made For You". That song just fires on all cylinders. Absolute genius songwriting.
omg 37 minutes with alex.......... thank u so much zane
The most excited I’ve been for an album in a long time. I’ve heard Jet Ski’s on The Moat and it’s incredible
One of my favorites for sure, the chord progressions are beautiful and I love the beat switch-up after the second chorus. Lyrics are gorgeous as well.
One of the best cuts on the album.
I loved the interview! Alex is a beautiful human being!
I just love how Zane seems to make anyone feel comfortable. His interviews feels like he’s just chatting with his friends
it’s cool how you internalize different parts of the interview as you rewatch it, kind of like a movie. i love how interesting people can get
Alex Turner has never stopped surprising me since the first time I listened to A.M. in 2005... He creates entirely new songs and worlds on every album... He is close to a younger Damon Albarn in the sense that he goes farer and farer with his own experimentations... without trying to explain too much... like any artist, sometimes you do stuff without fully controlling it in the making.
nailed the comparison
On point
The lasts lines from Zane and Alex in this interview are perfection and sum it up beautifully ❤
Alex looks so happy here❤🥺❤️
I appreciate Zane Lowe, he asks such elaborate but also open-ended questions that show how much he knows - and cares - about the musician and the music itself. No nonsense, no generic stuff. I'm so glad I got to hear Alex's thoughts and processes. The Car is such a strong album, it blows my mind.
What an amazing interview
The Car is the best album development of the band! They develop and mature with every album! So grateful of the pace they are taking. When you love a band/artist you got to trust their process and respect it ❤
I can’t wait! You guys have got me through some dark times!
im just in love with his voice in this interview🫶
Alex is such a cutie
I can't wait to hear the new album 😩🤍
Can't wait to hear it!
What a fantastic interview! Zane asks the questions we all want the answers to!
Great interview and thoughtful questions ❤
They highlight each individual sound in the most profound way, better than any band ever has. My favorite music, always will be.
3 down....And its Beautiful Alex! I cant wait to here Sculptures! The Dark, Humbuggy one! 👌
The only thing I want to know now ,since we are getting a new AM album ….. When are TLSP coming back?
Same
Oh gosh His voice 😍 I could listen to him for Hoooouuurrs ....charming
ugh my ❤️
so excited for this album
sometimes i don't understand wet he's talking about but i can listen to him talk forever
This interview makes me so happy
An absolute genius in the music world- he can't put a step wrong musically.
The way he speaks in interviews is such a mood and it’s another reason I love him
I have had time to digest Mirrorball and Body Paint for a long time now and I gotta admit, Body Paint is undoubtedbly the most mindblowing song I have heard in a while.... the last song that really touched me like that I remember vividly was Resistance by Muse (and they are very different songs) or Death and all of his friends by Coldplay back in the Viva la Vida era.
I cant believe its been a year. time flies. best wished to them and i hope they have a great break and fun making a new album for us.
I subscribed as well for the reason you stated that other people do. Totally, fair and honest without being dramatic and trying to take someone down which this space is littered with. Thank you
Me estaba sintiendo ansiosa por otras cosas, vi esta entrevista y me relajé tanto, graciias Alex, haces mis dias mas tranquilos y felices
what an interview this is wow
I’m listening to this right now because I am having a bad derealization episode and this is one of the only things that can help me
Me encanta la atmósfera que este tipo crea con los músicxs. Igual no dejo de pensar que la titularon como una entrevista a los "arctic monkeys" y solo está Alex
What a great interview!
zane is fantastic, and alex is a genius. the album deserves all the praise it will get
