my tip after going thru college admissions last year: don't underestimate the prompts common app gives you! I know they can feel vague or it might be tempting to go off the board in an attempt to be unique but I used one of the prompts and it inspired a really great essay when I was originally had no clue on what to write about. definitely give them some thought before writing them off!
The application summary: “From maintaining a 4.0 gpa, to being the founder and president of 3 clubs, and being the captain of the football team I’d say I’m a good fit for your school”
But here's the thing, you need to make yourself feel more human. There are plenty of people who have 4.0s and do rigorous extracurriculars and it definitely is enticing but showing your personality (if it's a good one) will give colleges faith in how you can deal with what's to come.
4.0, club leader, sport player, yeah yeah yeah. There’s many kids like you. Maybe only 20 kids out of 1000 are like that from your school, but kids also over the world have the same feats. Needs to be moe special.

the pseudointellectual one is really interesting and funny to me, because i'm a creative writer who often write in a (purposefully) exaggerated style in my short stories, because i often write from perspectives of inanimate objects or animals--trees, air, dragons, horses, etc. because i write like this so often in my personal time, it was a huge struggle trying to write college essays. my style became something i actively had to reverse- instead of writing 'normally', from what i would say is my 'authentic self', i hard to wire myself to be as 'direct as i possibly can', just so that my points didn't get muddled up and read loike a literal creative writing story. i think my essay, especially my commonqpp, is still verging on the unconventional side. i'm really excited to see how it's going to go! anyways, as usual, thank you for the advice! you've helped me a lot with my essays this year. i am actually going to send in my ED Brown application in approximately 1 hour and 58 minutes. hopefully it will go good :D

Im thinking about writing essay , here's the summary:- I was average student who lived his childhood, till middle school i got gpa of 3 , but after finding my goal to pursue my career in Ai research i began to take my academics more seriously and after hardwork i got 4 gpa in my high school year , while working on academics i also played badminton and roller skating at national level representing my state, i learned 6 languages, i started coding learned python java c++ html , my goal is to research and develop the future of AGI , i believe that human are capable of developing something which is far more capable than AGI , and that is where i came up with AAI ( ARTIFICIAL ADVANCED INTELLIGENCE) and i believe that i can contribute to future through my knowledge that i will gain in your university.

If you take it as far as the grade now represents your self worth, then its way too far. Grades are important, but they are of course not the end all be all. You have other values and interests and traits that make you you. In shorter terms, being obsessed with grades is usually a one way ticket to physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual destruction.
Yes it's indeed unhealthy to think that grades represent yourself. Although it is one factor of yourself and is important if you would like to achieve big feats in terms of going into an ivy league school or finding a job that has big responsibilities, tasks, or requirements (e.g. a physician, a dentist, etc.). However, other factors are rather as important such as extra curricular activities, socialization skills, etc.
dude im from Algeria and i promise i am just so confused on what to do regarding college. Our school system is so outdated. All we get to choose is one "filliere" out of 14 or with only The sciences taken seriously being: *Natural and life sciences,* *Exact sciences,(i do this)* and *Technology: Civil engineering or Mechanical engineering or Electrical engineering* And those aren't even different we literally study the same curriculum except at different paces and at a kinda of different levels of depth. +Technology don't study Science instead they choose to study "X" type of engineering or . if day that’s smarter than doing it late. most of my friends (during my senior year) wrote their essays a month before application season and weren’t as satisfied as they would be if they had done it in advance. just write the essay in a doc, edit it, and if you don’t end up liking the essay your senior year you can always change the topic.
late but i don't think you need to tell them. as long as it's all your own work it shouldn't matter if you started super early. i think they'll be able to tell you spent a lot of time on it from the content itself
If i am really into philosophy and use many word cause i write books, so i have large grammar vocabulary. I need to write it less fancy even if i am talking like so irl? P.s. I dont speak english well, so i can have grammar issues
