  • Chapter marks for each call can be found here in the description. I'm back as the man of a thousand voices - or (more accurately) up to 10 very similar-sounding voices - talking to criminals who pretend to be from Amazon. They want me to download software that will give them control of my computer. As I am a very amateur scambaiter with close to zero technical skills I would never do that, but I am reasonably adept at the fine arts of time-wasting and putting them off with silly characters who say silly things. Warning: includes strong language.

The best information on this scam is provided on RUclips by people who know what they're doing: @JimBrowning (e.g. here • Scamazon Prime ), and Pierogi at @ScammerPayback . To be clear, the scammers do not work for Amazon and have no connection with the company. The scammers get victims to download AnyDesk, TeamViewer, AweSun, dSupport, Supremo, Iperius Remote or other remote control software, in order to claim a nonexistent refund. The scammers then contrive it so that their victim accidentally claims too big a refund, and then guilt/order the victim to repay the difference, often via gift cards. Refuse, and they will lock you out of your computer/phone. Either way they will probably also steal your banking details, money, and personal data.
Why 50 calls? It could have been many more, but I had to stop somewhere. 50 is a nice round number and serves to convey the level of intrusion that these scammers create. These are all cold, incoming calls made to me by the scammers - I don't go looking for trouble, but when they disturb me I think it's only courteous to talk to them.

Welcome back Major, Benji, and the whole family of crazy characters! You have all been sorely missed.

Surely after such Herculean effort, The Major should be in line for some sort of recognition from Her Majesty The Queen? An O.B.E, M.B.E. or even (date I say it?) a Knighthood?
Thank you so much for this - I have laughed out loud on multiple occasions whilst listening to this!
And a particularly favourite moment of mine, I hear you ask?
Well, it's gotta be: 'Yeah... computer's on... TWAT!'
    Keep up the good work!
P.S. Please give my regards to Benji!

50 calls you have put online - these scumbags are relentless! - how come you get so many? I have never had one call for Amazon, but plenty of other phone scammers. Keep up the good work wasting these fools time!

Thanks! I think I got put on a suckers' list, and they never bother to take off the time-wasters. Maybe it's regional? I've never had Norton/McAfee scammers.

Had lots of calls like this back in 2020 several times a day, to the point where I couldn't take calls for work as they were constantly phoning.
Changed my number since and it's lovely and quiet now thank goodness.
