@@RacquetFlex Its true no need for thanks. If you make a step by step serve tutorial I'll be winning Wimbledon 2023! By the way, I feel super tired from serving and feel I cant consistently get off the ground. I'm in pretty good shape and move on the court pretty well. Do you have any exercises to build service endurance?
I think you're one of the best on you tube for tennis tips. You can explain the mechanics in a manner that are both clear and scientific. One obvious example is the explanation of why we should keep the head still as we swing and make contact with the ball. That's the best explanation I've seen on here.
@@RacquetFlex I saved the video to my favorites & watch later even before viewing it because I know you have the best tennis instructional video's on you tube period! 👍👍
BTW, I was doing the racket with cover on swings and baseball bat swings on the tennis serve years ago just out of instinct and frustration that I couldn't get my large muscles to develop the muscle memory to fire on the serve. It worked but then I stopped doing it and lost the motion again. Now going to restart as it works very quickly!
@@allboutthemojo Thanks Sz Ki for the kind words! Yes, weighted and resisted shadow swings (especially paired) can give you such a great feel needed to start developing a natural swing path in your shot. You are spot on with using your larger muscles to build RHS. We can make a video all about that.
no joke, I think that you guys have the most aesthetic technique ever. literally I can see the direct influence Federer has on your serve technique and forehands. please make a video of just you too sparring! please!
Thanks for the kind words, Wambo! Before I knew about and dove into the world of biomechanics, I'd spent at least multiple thousands of hours shadowing Fed in slo-mo. I wouldn't recommend it because there's so much variation you could be experimenting with otherwise - however, the resemblance remains! Also, sparring video coming soon. - Dayday
@@RacquetFlex no way! that's what I've been doing. I'm already in your forehand webinar course and alongside doing the shadow swings at home, I just try to imitate Roger in the mirror. problem is, once I get on court, I change back to my old habits even though I got it down at least 30 times while looking at the mirror. it seems like if I have to move or adjust to the ball, my technique goes to trash
Greetings from Brazil! I've watched your vídeos on the forehand and backhand and it REALLY helped me get those moves right. Now I've been working on my second serve. I'm trying to learn how to hit a kick serve. Do you guys have any vídeos specifically

Awesome video! The drills look awesome so I'll definitely start using them👍 Just a quick question. What drills can you do you make sure you engage your thoracic so that your chest points up on the serve so you can increase range of motion? Thanks!
Hey guys, excellent video! Help me a lot! I'm doing the routind now! Can you prepare another video for the stability in the trophy position? I have problems with tue balance. Thanks!
oh WOW, you guys are doing a great job, i learn a lot and laught a lot with all your lame jokes! thank you so much for all the detail instruction. i love the channel
Would love to learn more about the pronation required for a topspin/kick-serve. I cannot wrap my head around how to put some forward momentum into that ball. Always end up going too long or hilariously short.
Hi Gabriel! That is definitely a tricky one. In fact, the way that a lot of people think of the kick serve as using mainly the straight-up topspin motion is typically that leads to a "spinny" shot that doesn't go anywhere. And to be honest, that is one of the biggest challenges that I faced when developing my kick serve. That's a great topic that we would love to dive deeper into in another video!
@@RacquetFlex Awesome, looking forward! Really love the videos you're making, I'd totally sign up for real life courses if I'll make way to your part of the world someday.
Hello guys, great job as usual. One question please : why in the 6th drill you toss the ball diagonally in the bucket.. the toss is not straight ? Thanks.
Great question, Jean! Achieving the optimal serve contact requires a toss arc that travels slightly forward and from right to left (for righties). We'll be covering more about this in our upcoming serve toss and contact videos.
@@jeanhuz3689 I was taught to use the "arced" toss, meaning to toss along the base line, which means the shoulders rotate before the toss, but also that you need to "arc" the toss from right to left, and forward (inside the court). Federer uses this. But then I found out other players (feks Djokovich) tosses more straight up inside the court, I switched to that, and find it much easier! You have to rotate your shoulders after the toss though, meaning you dont get "free" shoulder rotation This video explains it: ruclips.net/video/R02cutZsVaE/видео.html
Absolutely A1 awesome video. I often use 2 rackets for shadow swings, but I guess the cover idea is better for my wrist and palm. Also could u pls make a video on target practise.. I. E difference in angles for T and wide serves pls? Great work guys 👍🥂
Hi Shriam! Thanks for watching the video :) Using 2 rackets for shadow swings is very effective - and I would recommend pairing it with the resisted swings. The idea with the racquet cover is that it creates a resistance force (drag) when swinging, while weights make the motion more natural as it relies on the inertia of the racquet to carry the swing. We would be more than happy to make videos on target practice on the serve - I know how crucial that is ;)
@@RacquetFlex yea man, pls do. I really struggle keeping the TServes within the box. Often overshoot the service line. And for the wide serve, I seem to loose purity of contact. This happens more while serving on the deuce court
Hi, Fundamental Tennis. Thanks for watching. We'll be coming out a serve contact video soon. Great instructions on your channel by the way - keep up the great work!
RacquetFlex looking forward to that video. And thanks although I have stopped making videos at least for a long while. I just don’t have the time anymore. Keep up the great work 🙏
At around 6:30, you say "rotate away" … is that rotating the upper torso slightly in a clockwise direction ( for a righty ) as you're swinging behind the back, then rotating back counterclockwise ( uncoiling ? the torso ) towards the net ?
Good drills, but I think my serve speed is limited by age rather than technique. I can touch 105+ with “poor” technique at 64. Good technique is better for placement and consistent speed but I don’t think there’s anything left on the top end.
I believe you can build up your pronation muscles. When you are an advanced player they have been built up over the years. The drill shown here supinating and pronating with a string less racquet is a good way to feel true pronation rather than using your upper forearm muscles to turn the racquet square and beyond. Doing this same exercise you can use a racquet with strings and hit a ball at the apex and see how far it goes. I am a beginner because I have a problem with my dominant shoulder due to an arthritic neck and a pinched nerve. So I am working on the arm that does not hurt. Forehand is fine since I used a two hander. The one arm backhand not so good and the slice not so good either. The serve, pathetic. I noticed something doing that supination/pronation exercise. When I hit the ball with my dominant arm it goes from the end of court one to the start of court 4. When I do it with my non dominant arm I am stuck with it goes from start of court 1 to end of court 1. I worked on that every day for a few weeks and now it goes to the end of court two. Still not as good as my injured arm would do. Pronation is so important I am sure pros are doing specific pronation exercises. The internal and external rotation exercises are what you do at PT for an injured shoulder. Be careful not to overdue it. Your rotator cuff muscles will not like that, and you will not feel that until the next day.
I love it. I just started watching his videos and want my daughter to try these so in theory I feel as though this will work. So thank you for commenting!!! Telling us that it did work for you.
