  • This is a video describing how I recently replaced my home alarm system back up batteries (ones the system falls back on in case of a power outage). This is based on my own experience and does not constitute professional advice. I am NOT an electrician, nor am I an ADT employee or any such representative. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this yourself, please hire a professional. That said, here’s the ADT video referenced in this video:

Theirs is a good video. Seriously. Please watch that one first, since it may be all you need.

Be sure to properly dispose of your old batteries when done since they're hazardous waste. Don't just chuck them in the garbage else karma will come for you. Instead, take some personal responsibility and drop them off at your nearest hazardous waste collection site. Your kids, grandkids, me, and the community at large will very much appreciate it. Then if you're over the legal drinking age, have a beer. You deserve it. If you're under the legal drinking age, ask the owner of the home alarm system to pay you for properly disposing the batteries. You deserve it, at least like $5. Then invest that $5. When you hit the legal drinking age, use the money to buy yourself a beer. You deserve it. :)
