Tremendous acting from Paul Bradley. Easily one of the best and most underrated actors the show ever had.
Rubbish actor
I love the way grant and nigel were best friends. Nigel such a kind character. Really good acting.
Yeah he was so good and remember when he first came back in March 1992 he was quite different.
Grant and Nigel truly loved each other like brothers. This was one of those meaningful times on EE where the writers allowed a Mitchell to drop the tough guy act and allow himself to be vulnerable and kind with someone. I thought the writing became terrible by the time he married Tiffany and they used it as an excuse to exaggerate his abusive tendencies. Grant's hug and tears with Nigel say so much more about his character.
Even when Grant was with Tiffany there were moments when he genuinely loved her he did love and care for her but he just didn’t know how to show it in a healthy way, but he did care for Tiffany, and she intern fell for Grant because she saw something in him that endeared her to him, but the writers always have to treat the Mitchell men like bullies/abusers it’s unrealistic
@@woahkana Unfortunately, he didn't love Tiffany. He told her many times that he only endured her as a wife because of their baby. The one woman he loved was Sharon, but the writers were determined to mess that up by starting a creepy triangle with Phil. It sucks because he had a heart, but they kept using the Falklands War PTSD (plus references to Peggy's violent husband) as an excuse to flare up his temper.
They were gay lovers.
Nigel was a rubbish character though, everyone is blinded by nostalgia and want to believe he was a walford legend
The only time Grant and the police ever treated other politely
I love this scene and show! Greetings from Delaware, USA
The shock was so so deep... but at the same time seemed absolutely unbelievable what happened to Debbie. It's impossible to imagine how Nigel felt.
RIP Debbie, This episode aired 22/6/1995 was the day after I was born!!!!
This has popped up just as Nigel has returned. Hope him and Phil can help each other
I've not watched EE in yeeeeears, then this appears in my feed. Out of nostalgia, I watched it and I tell you, the character of Nigel was so good. This short little sequence actually has me in tears right now. You could feel his pain through the screen. Great acting chops
poor nige
grant was such a good mate
Yep he only fucks hes misses
I forgot how good Eastenders use to be. USED TO BE.

@All the men fancy me it's shite nowadays
Shiab Uddin Yeah it was a real community where everyone cared for each other. Now there’s a new serial killer every year, it’s become so unrealistic!
All the men fancy me I don’t anymore, as the storylines have become so damn unrealistic.
All the men fancy me Yeah and I’m not forcing you not to watch it. If I want to say it’s shit I’ll say it’s shit.
Still makes me sad this scene
It was early 90's. I was born in 1988 and i remember watching this when i was little!
Looking forward to reading he rest of your autobiography
Such a nice bloke doesn't deserve such news :(
Nigal was so sweet
Your post was 16 years ago.....wow
I cried like a baby when this was aired, we had not long lost my beloved Grandad, watching Nigel cry in Grants arms as well as Nigel telling Clare brought it all back.
you never saw her death onscreen, i remember she left to go shopping at the beginning of the episode then near the en the police turn up to see Nigel!
Ricky's hair is a thing of beauty.
Poor Nigel!
Nige and Debs were such a cute couple. I remember seeing this when it first aired and being shocked at how out of the blue the tragedy came. When Nige went to collect her daughter was a poignant moment. I don’t bother with EE now. It’s crap
You love it really you mug.
So why are YOU watching it? Sorry, but I can't stand people who frown upon old TV and music. Most old stuff is better than what's on now anyway.
Poor nigel shows grant has a kind side to him and was a great mate to nigel
Eastenders was actually good then.
@Joe Stewart-Paul who says it is?
@@bp6329all you load of mugs do.
Remember this poor Nigel was so sad 😢 Great to see him back in EastEnders such a lovely character ❤
Every minute of every day
EastEnders in the 90s pissed on everything else. Some great characters and stories. I've not watched it in over 20 years, never had the feeling I was missing out
Well they’ll gonna be reunited in the 40th Anniversary Episodes. Nigel is already back. Phil’s mental health is on the decline
@TalentedStudios Dam, i only started watching it recently, would be nice to see some of the old episodes
Eastenders used to be so good
I miss Nigel he was 1 of the character I remember seeing when I was really young and not really watching the show. They should bring him back with Claire. He was good cos he showed a slightly softer side 2 the Mitchell bros which u don't get 2 c too often
He used to be in Casualty aswell. Be good Nijal come back and other old characters aswell that be great
@@ollye4513 Do you mean, Holby City? He never appeared in Casualty.
he has come back in it now
1:17 Grant was always prepared for there to be someone dangerous inside mysterious buildings he was entering!!!
@fred1999BOLLOCKS good question, why am I watching 20 year old episodes? I4 years ago I was living on the east coast, USA, and the PBS = Public Broadcasting Service showed Eastenders sunday at midnight and to save money they bought and showed old episodes. Well this episode stood out in my memory as very realistic. So why are you watching this? I wish this show was broadcast 5 days per week here, it's like a drug! I mean that in a good way. Top notch acting and I love the range of accents!
PHIL'S HEAD WAS MORE NORMALLY-SIZED BACK THEN!!!!! IT DIDN'T APPEAR TO BE QUITE AS INDESTRUCTIBLE-LOOKING!!!!
Vernon, unlike your brain
EE was amazing in the 90s
@NinjaDefuseMW2 i think its the date it was broadcasted
Aired on drama yesterday
The brother that Phil and Grant never had is what Nigel is to them
Unlikely best buddies , but loved one another like brothers ..
Is there a clip on RUclips where we actually see Debbie die?
She died off screen.
@@kevinlongman007 why
No. Her death wasn't actually filmed. Debbie us last seen leaving the house to go shopping.
i relate
Where was Nigel when Dots funeral happened
Exactly. He wasn’t even mentioned.
Why didn't they show the accident?
Why would they?
@@Leeann-rz3ei Obviously a character's death is an important part of the story and would be good dramatic TV.
@@r4h4al not really. I'm glad they didnt show it.
Why did i end up watching this 😂
When eastenders had amazing writers and executive producers. Stopped watching it after 23 years a few weeks ago. It's so bad now, even with a bigger budget.
The On Her Majesty's Secret Service of Eastenders. In On Her Majesty's Secret Service, James Bond's new wife Tracy was killed. This is sad. Nigel had just married Debbie and then all of a sudden, she dies in a car accident. How sad is that?
What's this got to do with James bond ?
@All the men fancy me faked her death did she ?
😢😢😢
Back in day when enders was good.
4:22 - poor Nigel
yes someone did die of cancer in eastenders pat butcher did
Grant and nigal best mates like brothers
I heard now fireworks
@fred1999BOLLOCKS I honestly don't know much about Holby. I haven't been able to find entire episodes of current Eastenders, where should I look exactly? I'd love to marry an English woman!
If only she'd worn slip-on shoes!
Sanjay, Ricky, mark,peggy
i was 5 years old :D
1:40 Imagine how massive Grant's tops must've looked, flattened and stretched out!!!!!
Had, not has. 1 doesn't work as an exclaimation mark. And the Z in AIDZ doesn't work unless you can't spell Syndrome either. Other than that, good job.
The episode's alright.
miss there hay days
Was this the episode when Grant bummed Nigel the powerbottom?
Are those follicles I see on Phil's head?
Yes both Steve McFadden and Ross still had a bit of hair back then.
Pauline died ages ago lol
the 90s? Noway by far it was the 80s, shoulder pads, ruffles etcetc!
eddie inbeddi guaranteed this is 90s half this lot wasn’t in it in the 80s this be 95 ish
@@lesliegeorge4933This episode was from 22nd of June 1995 which is roughly 10 years and 5 months of the shows existence.
@leesetters LOL!
only lately people are getting stabbed in the neck with racks, pushed over cliffs, falling into Motorways, Falling on top of their cars, Wacked with Pans, Stabbed, Blown up... twice, old age but no one has died from cancer in EastEnders which is a concern
Poor Peggy Mitchell, played by Barbara Windsor, Phil and Grant's mum passed of cancer.
Actually she decided to take her own life before cancer took her, which isn’t the same thing. Pat Butcher died of Cancer on the show.
i loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee easteenders
Trust me it was the 80's lol watch some music videos from it youllsee what i mean! lol
This episode wasn’t in the 80’s, this episode is from 22nd of June 1995.

BP63 hello BP63

Nige is back 2024 Xmas
He is also suffering from early onset Dementia and doesn’t want anyone to know and hasn’t told his wife, Julie as he doesn’t want her to watch him deteriorate.
