Just found this video thanks to TikTok! I've been having a lot of hip and lower back pain lately. I had a stroke a few years ago which limited my mobility and i work from home sitting A LOT. I really hope this helps the stiffness and pain i have! 🙏🏿🤞🏿
Sorry to hear about the back pain. I've been there, and it's no picnic. We have more exercises and explanations that might help you here: gmb.io/back-pain/
Im here from that girl crying on TikTok and oh lord im sad to say i didn't cry but this felt so good, my hips have been killing me the past couple of months and this really helped.
I stretch 30-45m eveyday and see very good improvement about every 3 weeks. Its a process.... a slow one but its important not to rush and hurt yourself
This is truly a lifesaver! I use to be big on working out…5 years later while working in a plant (12 hour shifts while walking on concrete) and became a mommy, stretches and everything else went on the back burner. Lately my lower back and hips has been having this feeling of locking up or something; to the point, I could barely stand up straight while getting up or bend all the way down. I did this one time and that feeling has went from a 91% presence to a 15% presence. I will most definitely start doing these more often. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤
im a long distance runner, and have always neglected hip mobility until now. I started to feel tight in my pelvis, so i am glad I found this video! the frog stretch is killer for me!!!!
I have lumbar stress fractures in my spine and a groin injury that have been nagging me keeping me from doing anything physical for the last 3 years. I just tried these and im able to walk and move better already. Thank God i came across this video

Hey there GMB! I've started doing these stretches along with your shoulder stretches every morning for a while now, and I've got to say that I already feel that my range of motion has increased a lot. I still can't do the squatting internal rotations, but I'm sure I'll get there with dedicated practice. I love your no-nonsense and down-to-earth approach to everything you do.
I just did this a few moments ago and it was a half-ass attempt. I can already feel the benefits! Thanks, I'll be doing these stretches more thoroughly from now on.
This is the best hip mobility exercise and stretch video I have found. 8 years old? the newer ones do not talk about how to exercise before the stretch to help you get more flexible. I have been searching for months because I did not want to pay for a hip mobility program. Thank you.
I was thankful that I found this video after having weeks and weeks of hip and right buttock pain. After the pandemic started, I began to work from home, and my sitting increased. I wasn’t really sure what it was at first, but that was the only thing that changed. I could not believe that just sitting more often would cause me to feel so much pain. After a few days of doing this hip stretch exercise routine, I felt changes and relief. I found that it was mostly my piriformis muscle that was deeply tightened and needing repair. What I also found was that if I worked on the fascia of that leg, hip and buttocks, the exercises only increased the relief even more. I had purchased the “fascia blaster “ in the past, and utilize this tool to break up the facia which affects our muscles. I am deeply grateful for this video, and for the instruction. You have been a life changer. Thank you
I am 54 and have extreme pain in my hips, and severe loss of flexibility. I attribute this to my own lack of attention to the importance of stretching and a sedentary lifestyle. I am starting this routine today and hope for success. Will provide an update on a while.
I found this video years ago and started doing those stretches, and still continues to do some of them. Over time, my flexibility has improved, so I looked up the video again to learn all 8 stretches
Thank you for these exercises! I'm just 23 but I'm stiff as hell in my lower body. I guess it's because I never practiced sport till I was 20 (nobody in my family is a big fan of physical activity lol) and I used to spend basically all of my day sitting (at school in the morning, at home for studying and pc gaming...). Now I've been hitting the gym regularly for one year and my body and mind are changing SO much. Weightlifting helped me get out of a very dark period of my life and I'm constantly trying to improve myself through it. I'm having troubles with the squat exercise. My ankle mobility is ok, but my hips are the real problem. Sometimes they hurt even just after riding my motorbike. I hope that I can fix it by following this routine, because even if I know there are many other exercises for butt training, I'd like to be able to squat below parallel.
Glad you are working on these exercises to help improve your hip flexibility! If you are having a hard time with your squat you might want to take a look at our full squat tutorial! gmb.io/squat/
As a basketball player that's getting up there in age LOL this has helped me tremendously. Still continuing to hang with the young fellas in my tournaments. LOL
I came from tiktok and I never felt so relieved like im so serious I sat here for about 30 minutes doing these stretches over and over again and I felt every movement in my pelvis and in my back…im lost for words 😭🥹
Here from TikTok to do this before bed. Imma need this release! Body carries trauma, and all of my trauma centered in my pelvis area. From multiple major surgeries to physical trauma childbirth to SA. I wish I would’ve known about this sooner, but I’ll let you know how it goes.
10/10 highly recommends! I was shocked how well my squat position was or the fact that I could do any of these without being in the gym over a year. I used to do a lot of stretching that I didn’t know proper stretching for the hips or pelvis area. I haven’t I was told as a child being double jointed which we now know is Ehlers Danos I have a lot of hip pain. Sometimes it feels like my pelvis pops out of place. I’ve had my tailbone amputated on top of multiple countless surgeries in the pelvis region all the way up to the hysterectomy to bladder surgery which was traumatic. They had to dissect out a bladder sling And part of it is still attached to my pelvis hip bone areas just growing scar tissue. They got out the part that was affecting the bladder from working. And the surgeries were started in my early 20s the last one in 2014 and 38 and I have gained quite a bit of weight in a year. I’ve never been overweight at 5 foot 11. This is the biggest I’ve ever been outside of pregnancy and I am feeling amazing that my body could even move and do these stretches. I wish I found the sooner I have a lot G.I. problems. And the weekend has kept me out of the gym because of insecurities due to a G.I. diagnosis that I cannot access the cure to because I can’t afford health insurance at $600 a month with all the co-pays and out-of-pocket deductible‘s etc. so I frequently end up in the emergency room or inpatient with an infectious disease since I have a genetic condition where I am a carrier For CDF and like an auto immune disease, it gets triggered randomly I’ve lost count how many times I’ve gotten it since 2021. It has made me septic it has almost taken my life. I just took my last antibiotic for the last round of having the infectious disease, you would think I would lose weight with this type of disease but it’s been the opposite. On top of not having access to the hormoans I need and being in full menopausal disorder because I was put into menopause at 24 years old and I finally had access when I could afford it to Hormone talents that my body needs and I’m neurodivergent so I’m over sharing just in case somebody else showed up here like myself from a TikTok, in particular, a female struggling with so much pain and in mobility or trauma in the hips and or pelvis area. If you practice unblocking chakras if this is a frequent chakra you struggle with I would say start with this. I used to only do the squats. I naturally sit like that people are amazed at 5 foot 11 women can sit like this it’s not part of our culture but I’ve been like this my entire life I don’t sit down on the ground I squat.
Love this sequence! Have been doing a few of these stretches off and on for years to combat chronically tight hip flexors and low back pain but this video puts them all together nicely. I've never done multiple repetitions before a long hold and find it's done wonders getting the most of each movement. Thanks!
Glad you found the video helpful! Yes the dynamic contracts allow for your body to actively pull you into a stretch as apposed to forcing yourself into a position. :) It is a nice option and really does work wonders! Keep it up!!
GMB Fitness I have been doing the stretching routine as shown in this video and I feel like a new man. My body around the hip area feels so flexible like it did when I was a kid. It's an amazing feeling. Thanks a million!
I suffered a work related injury and have been in chronic pain for over a year. these stretches have been very effective in giving me relief in treating my condition! gentle and progressive is the key! thank you!
I was looking for another stretching video. I saw this and clicked on it. I'm glad I did. At age 59, I need as much mobility as I can get. As I get older, I am aware that mobility may be an issue at some point unless I do something now. My wish is I should have been doing movements like this 20+ years ago.
Thank you guys so much! Tried this for the first time and I feel so much looser already! The price to get a coach is so expensive so I am very grateful for this!
I have instructed all of the exercises in this video for the hip rotators - lying hip rotations, piriformis, frog, kneeling lunge, seated butterfly - a great modification for those needing a deeper stretch with upper body assistance....the two latter exercises in the video require some good hip mobility and strength! All goals to reach for.
I can say I've been doing this regularly since I commented last April and its really helped, I can get into the position and stay in it and go much deeper than I was before. Opened my hips up alot, great routine.
I need improved hip flexibility and mobility for football as I’m a running back and need to make fluid cuts and run faster w quicker acceleration and these are helping so much. Thank you
I love gmb!!! I use this series in all my yoga classes! I love using the skills in my classes and showing students that everyone can do gmb! take it from me the tin woman yogi!
Excellent video. That is how I teach the "frog" for ballet dancers too. However, traditionally dance teachers give it slightly different but it is incorrect as most students will not hold their core and sway their backs. (It is more like a butterfly stretch face down and static :() Thanks for your excellent videos!
Just did all of these at the best of my abilities while in bed bc the pain in my lower back has been wild today, and it almost let go?? I've been dealing with this pain every day for over 15 years!!!! What!!!
I didn't think much watching this. Just tried it and omg that guy has such good hip mobility, I was near tears at about a third of the range of motion.
the fall on a floor that had a bunch of oil my intire hip moved out now im stuck with a tilted pelvis. After loosing 10 pounds (not planned) i see the front upper thigh prodrud out. Scary but i manage. Post 17 surgeries here,no more plz.. too old. ty for this
I love this routine! My absolute favourite is the dynamic frog stretch at 2:54. In yoga, I practiced this as a static stretch but it feels much better done dynamically. I feel like it helps break up the adhesions there because my adductors are so ridiculously tight!
seems like a great set but I have hip impingement and have had previous surgery on my right hip... are these suitable/should I push through the pain or is it going to do further damage?
No. You should never push through pain. Instead you should take your time and listen to your body easing into stretches. We can't say for certain how you will progress as this is a youtube comment :) Please be sure to consult with your doctor about applying such stretches!
Hi this video helped me ease my hip pain.i have advanced arthritis.iwas not able to tolerate physiotherapy exercises and this is the first time I managed to without experiencing pain.
First time using this. When sitting crosslegged my knees are in a V position.I am not flexible at all. After just using this video once my knees are almost touching the floor !!! I will be using this video daily now! Thank you for uploading it❤
I most certanly love this! I struggle alot with hip flexibility and doing this will most certanly get me be less of a rock in my legs. Love your job there!
omg i was really feeling a lot of tightness and pain in my groin, hips, and lower back this morning. got the email about waking up sore and went straight to your page! these were like magic at the nick of time 😌 thank you!
Great video! I started to incorporate stretching in my hip flexors on a routine basis as I sit a lot for work, which as I found out is a killer on your hip flexors. Since routinely stretching my hip flexors my lower back pain has improved, I'm not so tight in my hips and have more control, flexibility and better form while lifting.
This is the best hip flex routine I have ever used......it literally works and you feel the pain and know you are working something out....I feel so flexible just 4 days after and can now do most other stretches easily....it's the bomb
Hey Cath, try not to push yourself into pain. Back off on the stretches a bit and move into a range of motion that isn't too painful. Remember you want to be able to keep stretching :)
I fondly remember this sequence back when it was first published and still use it today. Thats the thing with GMB material like this - its always good for the long run.
I've started incorporating a lot of these movements in my own training and in fitness classes that I teach and I've already seen improvements in my client's squat positions as a result! One question, I'm looking for some type of standard test I could perform with my classes to determine their general hip flexibility/mobility so they can see the differences for themselves that's more objective than asking them to self-assess their ranges of motion. I was considering using a squat with toes and knees touching the wall and arms up (I realize this will test shoulder mobility as well)...and measuring the distance they have to be from the wall before they can get into the bottom of a solid squat position. Any thoughts?
Awesome vid! The internal rotations turned to be the easiest for me. The piriformis on the other hand is insane! Feels like I'm frying my whole nervous system doing that one stretch.1,5 weeks of these stretches every day, and the pain I've had for 2 months is subsiding 👍🏻👍🏻Will try squatting with bar bell again this coming week.
This is so helpful, I'm training for the LA marathon and since beginning intense mileage my hips feel tight I did some stretches and they're so much better, but these stretches are a lot more detailed. I must to try this! thank you!
Holy crap this actually worked! Thank you for posting this video man, I was just about to pay to see a chiropractor. I'm going to send this to my lady as well Thanks again

I've used this mobility series with swimmers, track and field athletes, soccer players and delivered great results!! Thanks Posse
That is awesome to hear! Which mobility drills have you found most beneficial for them?
I have instructed all of the exercises in this video for the hip rotators - lying hip rotations, piriformis, frog, kneeling lunge, seated butterfly - a great modification for those needing a deeper stretch with upper body assistance....the two latter exercises in the video require some good hip mobility and strength! All goals to reach for.
Anyone else think the frog is the most brutal stretch ever... wow!
YES!! I tried this at home and couldn't get nearly as deep as he's getting.
Totally ! I want to work up to the depth he has
I can say I've been doing this regularly since I commented last April and its really helped, I can get into the position and stay in it and go much deeper than I was before. Opened my hips up alot, great routine.
+cmares5858 Thanks for the follow up my friend! Can you share another update? How has the hip mobility improved your day to day life?
+lnopia You could try it and find out for yourself ;)
I need improved hip flexibility and mobility for football as I’m a running back and need to make fluid cuts and run faster w quicker acceleration and these are helping so much. Thank you
That is great to hear, Ethan!
Sounds like golf commentary. Great video though, best on RUclips
FGT RTD Mr. Seagull.

Thank you! I have a "desk" job and I am stiff as a board. I hope this will ease my pain. Your channel is amazing!
+Ivaylo Katov We hope this can help you too! Thanks!
As a powerlifter I can confirm this is good to do if you want your squats deep
+Charlie Britt thanks, m'lady

+Charlie Britt Female here having pain/tightness on one side of hip with squats. Gonna try these stretches beforehand. They look really good!!

I love gmb!!! I use this series in all my yoga classes! I love using the skills in my classes and showing students that everyone can do gmb! take it from me the tin woman yogi!
So happy to hear that! Keep doing it!
What!!!
Make mobility exercises a regular part of your life. There's no reason anyone needs to spend 15 years suffering.
Came from tik tok! Let’s see how legit this is, so BRB😅
My sister and I did it and didn't shed a tear lol...it's probably different for others 🤷🏽♀️😭
I didn't think much watching this. Just tried it and omg that guy has such good hip mobility, I was near tears at about a third of the range of motion.
Glad you started working on this then ;)
2:27 Your neighbors might start to wonder.
😂😂
I'm dead XD
Your wife will never leave you if you do this one right.

the fall on a floor that had a bunch of oil my intire hip moved out now im stuck with a tilted pelvis.
Combining static and dynamic work together works well! :) Glad this helps!
I agree! I used to do it statically in yoga but now I do it dynamically too. Sooo good
the frog stretch immediately took away my lower back pain bless your soul
seems like a great set but I have hip impingement and have had previous surgery on my right hip... are these suitable/should I push through the pain or is it going to do further damage?
No. You should never push through pain. Instead you should take your time and listen to your body easing into stretches. We can't say for certain how you will progress as this is a youtube comment :) Please be sure to consult with your doctor about applying such stretches!
go see a physio
then listen to ur body
I've been a stretcher for a while now. Hate it, but love the feel of the results. Got to say you've pulled out some new ones on me here. Thanks.
Wow, this is one of the most packed stretches for hip issues. Thank you 😊
Sure thing - give it a try for a few days in a row :)

Hi this video helped me ease my hip pain.i have advanced arthritis.iwas not able to tolerate physiotherapy exercises and this is the first time I managed to without experiencing pain.
+tash nyat we are glad to hear that the video was able to help! I hope in time you are able to engage in your physiotherapy exercises!
That Frog is exactly what I've been looking for. Finally starting to get a little more range of motion in some real tight muscles. Thank you!
+Matt Moore Hell yeah - so great to heat that :)
Here from tiktok ❤
So many great stretches and I love how descriptive you guys are. This makes it so simple for me to share with my clients.
Sweet! Glad they're helpful for you. btw, we're starting to plan more resources for trainers and coaches, so keep an eye out.
I look forward to it!!!!! I will be buying "elements" for myself for Christmas!!!
Oh that's so good to hear :) Thanks!
Who’s here from tiktok ready to cry
First time using this. When sitting crosslegged my knees are in a V position.I am not flexible at all.
After just using this video once my knees are almost touching the floor !!! I will be using this video daily now! Thank you for uploading it❤
This REALLY WORKS!! Thank you so Sos much 😍
Glad it helped. Thank you for using it!

+lavarela8 Nice! Glad they were able to help you when you needed it!
I am happy to hear you found it helpful!
Thanks, my hip area is so tight.

@@movieexplainintagalog2445 Ok cool bro
As a vet with decreased mobility, this helped a lot! Thank you!
This video is great
This is the best hip flex routine I have ever used......it literally works and you feel the pain and know you are working something out....I feel so flexible just 4 days after and can now do most other stretches easily....it's the bomb
Hey Cath, try not to push yourself into pain. Back off on the stretches a bit and move into a range of motion that isn't too painful. Remember you want to be able to keep stretching :)
Here from tik tok!! Tune in!!!
Some of these stretches are certainly advanced, but they get the job done. Excited to put this into my routine. Thanks for the video.
karma lama Not especially advanced - just reduce the depth and adjust them to your level. Let us know how they work for you :)
Thanks ! And will do. :)
I'm a dancer and I've never had flexible hips I don't have my middle splits or good tilts so I hope this helps
It should :)
I am an ice hockey goalie, and this has helped me gain flexibility on an entire new level. Thanks!
+JayBayBay That's awesome! Thanks for letting us know :)
so grateful for this
I fondly remember this sequence back when it was first published and still use it today.
That's a good test. I'd suggest taking before and after pictures as well. :)
Subscribed - I was looking for a video to improve my hip mobility for biking. This video is great and I'm now watching all your videos.
Whose here from the TikTok video? 😂😂
That's great to see - doing it consistently is what makes the biggest difference :)
Who else came here from the sobbing girl on tiktok?
😂 not here from tik tok but would love to see what all these comments are about. Someone share a link please 😂
Yeah link please
This is so helpful, I'm training for the LA marathon and since beginning intense mileage my hips feel tight I did some stretches and they're so much better, but these stretches are a lot more detailed. I must to try this! thank you!
