As an Arab, before I grew to love sushi. These were my reactions too. It’s weird when you are so picky about eating fully cooked meat then you switch to raw. But overtime you learn to love it. And Japanese food is some of my favourite.
It's weird for a lot of westerners, too, take it from a Canadian who will try sashimi but doesn't like all of it. Any raw meat is to be met with a level of scepticism, too, since it will have to have been raised/handled exceptionally well in order to not have some kind of parasite/disease in the first place.
They should import our food, what a great comeback. I would love to see a chapter about them trying some of their own delicacies made by different tribes to see their reaction, thank you for sharing.
I've seen a few other reaction channels where Japanese and Koreans ate food from Pakistan and they had the same reactions and couldn't understand how anyone could eat it either. To my surprise though, it was everyone else massively protesting against the food and Mustafa actually tolerated some of it. Perhaps they would enjoy the fried fish used in sushi instead?
This was exactly my reaction to eating sushi for the first time too. I thought it was terrible and couldn't understand the appeal. My dad told me that it's often an acquired taste and sometimes you need to find the right chef and right type of roll with the right sort of fillings that you like because not everyone is going to make it in a way you can enjoy. I didn't believe him until I gave it a few more tried and now I love it. Still not a fan of wasabi but sushi really can be hard to stomach at first for many people. Especially if you start off with raw fish versions and don't ease yourself into that.
We must remember that this is western style to eat food that is mixed of many ingredients. For those people it is normal that even if you have a couple of those in a dish, you eat them separately.
