Heat Embossing with Painter's Tape

  • This video shows how to use the Heat Embossing technique without using rubber stamps.
I show you how to cut strips of painter's tape and apply them to a 6x6 piece of decorative paper. This technique creates a grid to be filled in with embossing ink and embossing powder.
This technique allows you to heat the product while the tape remains on the project. Removal of the tape is easy and does not tear or damage your paper.
I also show you my three failures that lead to the final result that I am please with in this video.
This technique is good for any beginner in Heat Embossing. This will allow you to try the products on a large surface and become familiar with the process. Actually see how the products work and transform.

+Charlotte Van Straten Thank you, Charlotte Van Straten, for your sincere comment. I try to be conversational and not be a know it all....because Lord knows I don't know much :D LOL except what I learn by the seat of my pants. hahahaha At times I do expose my backside from all the friction of flying in that manner LOL.

In all my years on RUclips I have never left a comment. That being said, I just had to throw out this compliment. You are wicked awesome! I'm a 36 yr. old artist and mother to a 15 yr. old daughter. And I have to say, you whip both of our butts in the cool department! You just have a really unique and confident way of conveying your info that feels so encouraging and still concise. You really do rock! Thanks for doing YOU in a way that makes it so comfortable for viewers like me to be... well just ME!

Neat job. I am a beginner (3 mos) and I found good tips on what NOT to do. So far, most of my projects have been failures. Some were BIG ones!! On other videos I watched, every thing goes so perfectly. I am glad that someone is willing to show their mistakes. Mistakes also help in figuring out what I did wrong. Thank you for your honesty.

Don't forget to turn those mistakes into design plusses. Sometimes you can work with a "happy accident'" and the design is way cooler than what you thought you wanted. Like when she got the extra dark line outside the grid. Just add some designs there and way cooler than the grid alone.

You are so encouraging and I appreciate that more than you'll ever know. I know most crafty RUclips-er's edit out their failed attempts. This makes us all feel like failures because we automatically assume that they got it perfect on their first attempt but we haven't. I saw a video from a crafter and it was of all her crafting bloopers. I was like "just leave the mistakes in the video". We're only human 😃 Anyhoo, THANK YOU 😊

Thank you, JaNetNMelissaWise, for watching my video and leaving your great comment. Painter's tape is low tack while Masking tape is a higher tack. Yes, you can use the masking tape to do this technique. Make sure to run the tape on your clothing, pant leg or shirt sleeve, a couple times to make the glue less tacky. Then cut your tape into strips.
I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day.

Hi there, just found you last night and thought it was great to be real enough to let people know that we all have our mistakes and things that don't turn out as well as anticipated. Sometimes we watch the professionals and they make it look so effortless but they don't show us their "bloopers" we need to see the bloopers. lol. Do want to ask though, was your protective gear just for laughs? I mean you don't truly wear all of that just to heat emboss do you? Plus you didn't heat your piece when you were done. Also with the outside edges that remained from the embossing ink, a little q-tip dipped in alcohol could help get that off. Thank you!

    • @messageinafold
      @messageinafold  7 лет назад +1

Thank you, Lori, for your truly awesome comment and question. Uhm...no I don't wear all that crazy protective gear. My normal subscribers need to get mixed up once in a while or they go to sleep on me. :D LOL
I totally know what you mean about the professionals never making mistakes. Used to make me so mad at myself when I could not get the results they did. I did not think to give myself a break for the learning curve I had to overcome. Because of that horrid experience I try my best to show the problems that are in every project...no matter how long a person has been doing this.
Lori, thank you! I was not aware that heat embossing required an extra bit of heating when the piece was done. Maybe just this one since I had the painter's tape to peel off and expose the "uncooked" embossing powder. In that case, yes you are totally correct.
I appreciate your comment and your instruction as well.

I have had really short hair and really long hair. I am not a "Salon Patron". Guess you can say I'm "Low Maintenance" :D. I'm also never much happy with the state of my hair. Although, one time I did have a NEAR buzz cut because I tried to cut my hair myself :/ and ended up going to a salon to fix the damage. :D

If you don’t make mistakes how can you learn. I have to remind my daughter “it’s taken years of mistakes to get better, no such thing as perfect. There’s no edit/delete/empty trash in real life.

I think for this kind of job you can use the strip for nail design inexpensive and much faster

did you know the metal piece on the mask serves a purpose? it would help with your fogging issues as well. if you do not pinch the metal to form it to the bridge of your nose, then all the air will pass through the path of least resistance which would be the gap around the nose, which causes your glasses to fog. you can actually see your breathe go in and out around that gap via the fog in your glasses when it happens to me. being from the medical field this is the first thing they teach you. if the air is going around the mask then it isn't going through the mask, therefore the mask is not filtering your air at all. try pinching that strip on the nose and it will help tremendously and will make wearing that mask a little less futile. hope that helps
