  • When you have a blocked up sewer, finding the drain clog location can be confusing and time-consuming. Locating drain clogs can be confusing, so let's see if we can make it less confusing for folks out there. This video will give you a basic understanding of locating a drain clog or sewer blockage. When a drain clogs up, where the water surfaces is frequently not where the problem is located.
    In general, water seeks its own level and the path of least resistance. This is also true when a wastewater backup seeks to escape from out of your pipes or plumbing fixtures. The water you see bubbling up may be from a clog many feet away, or even outside of your home. A simple tip is to check downstream from the visible backup to see if your waste water is flowing. Your plumbing system should have various clean-outs and traps that would allow you to do this. To learn more visit www.balkandraincleaning.com/l....

    Please Help. Recently developed basement. Water was overflowing from Toilet and Shower. Plumber came, fixed issue with snake, checked with camera up to the main sewerage that pipes looked nice and clean. It's only been 20 days today and water is overflowing again in Toilet and Shower. Any thoughts?

      See if the city sewer is backing up. See if neighbors have the same problem. Has it rained heavily lately? Three quick thoughts.

    We put a large pot of cooked spaghetti in our disposal on 2nd floor and its blocked bad.. i tried augering manually but didnt get very far. A plumber just left my house after 2.5 hrs and couldn't clear it with a 75' powered auger. He tried twice but no dice.( Not sure if it matters but his auger tip was broken off to nub that he bent slightly with pliers instead of those open coiled tips ive seen.)
    He said its one of the worst blocks hes seen and we'd have to cut a hole in the ceiling on 1st floor in garage, cut the pipe, and snake it that way. Should i get a 2nd opinion from a diff plumber?
    Thanks

      Maybe try a bladder (blow bag) or hydro jet. Yes, a 2nd opinion from someone with a wider array of tools. Let me know the outcome.

    My kitchen sink is clogged. Water won’t drain. Takes hours to finally go down. I check the exposed pipe underneath and they seem clear. I believe the clog is past that behind the wall somewhere. What’s best way to clear this? I’m thinking of renting a electric auger from Home Depot? Good idea? Which one?

    • @balkanplumbing
      @balkanplumbing  5 месяцев назад +1

      If you rent an electric snake the rental place will guide you. If you hire a professional they’ll come fully stocked and probably charge a hundred bucks more or less. Up to you. FYI it sounds like a stack stoppage.

      @@balkanplumbing Thank you. They have multiple options for snakes I think. I believe 25ft, 50ft, and I think probably a heavy duty one that’s even more. How will I know what option to choose?
      Will just pouring some drano in there likely do the trick? I already tried a few cups of bleach with no luck. As mentioned the sink starts to fill up after only 30 seconds of running water. It then takes hours to drain from there.

      Wow I just saw your question! A sink snake, a sink hand auger, or yes some draino. Sorry for the late response.

      If your non-heroic means does NOT open the clog, call a professional. You are not just paying for them to do it, you are also paying for their experience and equipment. Don't throw money after hoping you can fix it, call someone who can and be done with it. Aggravation and failure cost more than a plumber.

    I live in a really old house. In my basement i have a washing machine and a old sink that both connect to the main line. If i have a blockage in my second level bathtub will a clog on that floor cause water to fill up my sink in the basement or is that a clog in the sewer line under the basement floor? I also have two small cracked pvc pipes that go from the first floor to tge basement tgat run to the same sewer line. Will these 2 cracked pipes alos cause a issue with water not draining fast enough?

    • @balkanplumbing
      @balkanplumbing  2 месяца назад +1

      A clog under the basement floor can come up out of your basement sink. A 2nd floor clog will not affect lower plumbing.

    • @balkanplumbing
      @balkanplumbing  2 месяца назад

      No idea about the cracked pvc. If the cracks don’t leak I doubt they’d cause a clog. But sight unseen hard to say.

    • @ameliaritter2975
      @ameliaritter2975 2 месяца назад

      @@balkanplumbing yes they are leaking. I had a bucket under them. I'm fixing them today. As I type this. I was curious if the cracks would lead to a issue with the water not flowing fast enough then causing it to come back up the sink in basement. I don't know if I'm asking it the right way. But basically if the pipes are not air tight. Due to the 2 cracks, will it not allow the water to exit properly there for some of it creeping up the sink drain. The sink drain runs to the main sewer line. Its less then 2 feet away from it

    So what if your house is one level

    • @balkanplumbing
      @balkanplumbing  3 дня назад

      The principle remains exactly the same. Water seeks the path of least resistance and its own level. So where it surfaces is not necessarily where the clog is located.
