Prince is so alpha he changed "I don't belong here" to "You don't belong here." Prince belongs wherever the fuck he happens to find himself.
He changed the perspective of the entire song, it’s almost like this is the response to Radiohead’s version of the song.
That’s exactly what I was thinking when I went back and listened to Radiohead’s original version, which is excellent too I might add. I said to myself, “This man says I am a boss. Period.” And he says it every time he picks up a guitar.
Prince wasn't the type of man to feel insecure around a woman ...u would have to understand that Minnesota players mindset to get it ..
@@sugarhillromelo1569 He means Prince is alpha regarding his handling of the Radiohead song “Creep.”
@@CandaceLeAnne maaaan, he's an alpha period. In life and in music. He's hyper masculine. He's transcended masculinity to the point of androgyny. Yet has an unquestionably solid hetero record of dating only the most exquisite women this dimension has to offer.
I’ve been playing guitar for 25 years and I’m pretty sure Prince could throw a guitar down a flight of stairs and it’d sound 100x better than anything that I can play.
m Dearman 🤣🤣🤣
😁😁😁😁
m Dearman yeah but he spent a LOT of time miking those stairs first. 🙌😂🎸
That made me lol too much lol

We were spoiled by Prince, we took his genius for granted because he made it all look so easy. Now that he's gone we realize just how truly gifted he was, simply because of the crater he left that may never be filled artistically. Growing up as a teen during the "Purple Rain" hysteria...what a time to be alive!
The crater he left, couldnt of said it better! To quote dave g, a superhuman, a titan!

Imagine writing a song so amazing that PRINCE just had to do a cover version.
They stole the song and had to forfeit royalties

I don't know, he covered the Foo Fighters

Radiohead fought to KEEP this on RUclips. It was their copyright and they wanted to enjoy it as well. Prince improvised a Masterpiece of their song , so powerful . In fact, this was almost the only live Prince-s performance on the net for years , till he died . MUsicians ENVY of a true genious , think is the worst SIN for a musician . When another musician own your song could be hard for EGO. THANK U Radiohead for BE real musicians , and keep this mastrpiece against Prince himself those years. Zero envy. Well done .
I think artists celebrating fans performing their work is a beautiful thing. But to have your work covered by another rockstar..... There's whole compilation videos of celebrities losing their shit when they meet someone they idolized before they became famous. It's freaking adorable
I just heard about this and how Radiohead fought to keep it on the internet. Such a beautiful thing they did.
Which is ironic because the main guy from Radiohead, fucking hates this song.
@@thecrimsonghostakathefiend7508 Exactly. The hypocrites.
@@thecrimsonghostakathefiend7508 Thom Yorke doesn't hate Creep. He didnt want to be typecast by that one song. He felt the expectations from Creep limited his creativity. For that reason, he stopped playing it until a couple of years ago. The rest is history ... Radiohead was the most influential rock band from 1996 to 2010.
First verse: You're a creep
Second verse: Maybe I'm a creep
Second chorus: What the hell are we doing here, we don't belong here.
Genius, as usual.
Thank you! Watching this I felt he poised it so deliberatly, it's almost a tribute. But it's his own too. Incredible.

Stupendously creative was Prince

I was there with about 14 of my friends and while we were excited to see Prince we had no idea that he would deliver one of the most memorable performances of our lives
I was there as well with about 10-15 of my friends. And same...
You all were very lucky/fortunate. I can’t imagine watching him performing this cover! I saw him on the Purple Rain tour when I was in college. That was the best live performance I have ever witnessed! A true master and a showman beyond words…..
I hope I get a chance meeting with you one day, just to have you tell me about that experience in person. Coffee or drinks on me.

Ahhhhh, yes! I was at this show. And my Prince-hating husband stood right next to me throughout the three-hour set. I (along with 75k other people) lost my mind. When the lights came up, my husband turned to me and said, "That was one of the best shows I've ever seen."

Neil Peart informed Taylor Hawkins that Prince was playing the Foo Fighters "Best of You" during his super bowl performance as it was happening.
I love him I FUCKING LOVE him he makes me cry❤
Hendrix may parallel Prince on guitar...Stevie Wonder may parallel Prince on piano and keyboards...Larry Graham may parallel Prince on Bass...Dave Grohl may parallel Prince on drums...Michael Jackson may parallel Prince on singing and dancing...and Bob Dylan may parallel Prince in songwriting...BUT they would all need to collaborate with each other to parallel ONE PRINCE
I think this is my favorite comment of all the ones I've read on Prince videos and it sums up the breadth of his talent almost perfectly. They would need to collaborate with each other...and then hire like 20 people to do everything else he does and play everything else he plays.
He was the greatest at it all
The Emperor. Couldn't agree more. .
And we were so blessed to catch a glimpse of something so beautiful and rare , he gave us all something too beautiful for words
It rests in your heart. Peace and Love
Dude c'mon you're fucking delusional. All of those people are better at their respective instruments than Prince, not parallels. And Bob Dylan is a better songwriter. Period.
He's the only 'guitar god' ever that you forget even plays guitar sometimes. You could listen to an hour long collection of some of his biggest hits and not hear a single guitar solo, but then you see this or the George Harrison tribute and remember why musicians always mention him as one of the best. Dude was an animal on guitar but it wasn't important to him to showcase that at all, what was important was the vocals, the groove, the sexuality, and above all: the funk. Rest in peace Prince.
Jacob Dexter Very well said indeed
RIP Prince the one and only
Same can be said of Frank Zappa.
The One and Only Guitar God is David Gilmour. How dare you compare Prince the master of scales. And I'll agree with you, his performance on my guitar gently weeps ... Is impressive. I went and witnessed Prince live on the Purple Rain tour, left after the 3rd song. Jackass was simulating having sex on top of his grand piano. I didn't pay for that shit.
@@MattyExtrordinairIndeed-rp1mk sounds like he left a bad taste in your mouth.
Prince is the only artist who had a majestic and unpredictable aura about him. All eyes are glued on him because no one knew his next move. Then he pulls out this cover. The world truly lost a legend . RIP. Hope to see you live again in heaven.
When he stopped the posturing and annoying self-promotion as being rock's new Messiah it was plain to see that's exactly who he was.
He was anointed. The anointing is GOD'S presence and mark on a person.
Prince rarely did anyone's song but his own. Radiohead fought to keep this cover on RUclips. That should tell you something.
Very true!
So true
where did anyone read or hear radiohead fought to keep this on youtube please?
@@soulkiss1001 It's very easy to google this. Prince didn't want any videos online so he had the video removed. Radiohead challenged it was their song and their right to have it online.
Uh, of the 22 songs he played in this set, 11 were covers...
I'm a professional guitarist and teacher. I will brag and say I know guitar and soloing pretty damn well. I say this to give my 'street cred' for what I'm about to say.
In bands I've been in, we never covered Prince songs. So I was not 'into' him. I just was a casual listener and I liked his records, but I was not a fan. After he died, a lot of his guitar work started surfacing on RUclips. So I listened. The more I listened, the more I thought, "WTF? Why haven't I heard him do this shit before? This dude's a monster!"
So that's my tribute to his guitar chops. I finally see why big guitar names rank him up with the best. I just didn't know what heights this guy could go to when he was soloing. For me, it's not just the speed. Speed is shit without musicality. And that's what gets me about his soloing - the musicality. It's more than a succession of fast notes - a speed contest. It's how the notes form a kind of little song. They start out small and then build. They eventually reach a peak and the world opens up for the listener. This guy ain't just playing - he's SAYING something!
I wish I knew earlier, but now i do. And that's ok.
Well said!
Amen, totally agree! Absolutely genius
The man was a pro on something like 19 different instruments. He was a true artist. Dave Grohl was asked what it was like meeting Prince, knowing that Prince was a better guitar player than him. Grohl responded (and I paraphrase), "better guitar player?! Are you kidding me? He is a better drummer than I am and THAT"S MY INSTRUMENT!"
It’s ok being late to his party / glad you got there!! 💜💜💜
I wish you were MY guitar teacher and would teach me this CREEP cover by Prince! I was also slow to realize Prince's guitar talent - although I do have one of his early VHS video tapes. But when I saw him do a guitar solo on TV one time I was flabbergasted - and got a whole new respect for his genius. I have the same vocal range as Prince and wish I still had my band so I could cover some of his songs - like 'Kiss'. I'm not a Radiohead fan BUT I also love the original Creep performed by Radiohead - especially the two guitar shredding parts. This song brings tears to my eyes! Peace, from LuLu Haynes in Chicago
Been a fan of this dude since his first album. To this day I still don’t think people realize how gifted and talented he was. He was so ahead of his time that decades from now people will finally realize it. He was simply one of one. True genius.
💯% FACTS ME TOO "FOR YOU" 8TRACK
Yeah. L
Was going to say like Mozart
One of the very few artist who could take someone else's classic and make it his own. I think his incredible showmanship tended to overshadow his guitar wizardry. I remember all those yearly polls Rolling Stone used to put out of the 10 best guitarists. The usual names would rightly be there: Clapton, Van Halen, Vai, Jeff Beck, Brian May, David Gilmour. I'd wonder why Prince's name wasn't included because he wouldn't take a backseat to any of them. I doubt the world will ever catch up to his music years from now even from decades past.
Agree wholeheartedly
all the guitar praise aside... the inversion he did on the lyrics, the change of perspective (especially being fucking prince) gave a whole new meaning to the song...
Exactly
🖤💜🖤I completely agree...except for the comment “ Being fu#king Prince “. Maybe when Prince was in his teens or twenty’s he would have sung the lyrics as is, but even then he would make you question the meaning of his songs. He did that even more as he grew older.
I think by not saying the word ‘ Creep ‘ he’s leaving it up to the listener to decide whether the “ character “ is or isn’t one. But I have a friend who thinks it’s about confronting the devil. Prince was a very religious person, so I can understand my friend coming to that conclusion.
I love the fact that he didn’t do the usual cover and decided to reimagined it. As a result he came up with something truly original and special.🖤💜🖤
I was fortunate enough to be there. It was the greatest electronic guitar performance I’ve ever seen. The man was amazing.

YESSSSS ! I just listened/watched again. Do so at least once a month. Blows me away
The guitar solo is obviously overwhelming, but Prince also changes the lyrics in a manner that is simple yet transformative. It's fabulous how such a subtle revision can create something completely different, something that requires critical analysis independent of the original.
He seems to have experience as author (and/or reader) shifting from first-person omniscient to FP limited or third-person, etc. He's obviously done some meaningful thinking and productive introspection. He said that if people wanted to know him they should listen to his songs. Indeed.
Brilliant. Stunning. Bravo, Prince! The world misses you so much!
Yes. Yes, I do.
The reason there are so many recorded tracks in his vault is largely due to the lyrics not being what he wanted to say at the time of the recording or release of the album. Prince often pulled tracks out of the vault for future albums but the vast majority never again saw the light of day. Prince from the very beginning of his music career established the practice of recording songs as they came to him in his head and had a full time recording engineer and the necessary recording equipment at his home, at his band rehearsal space & while on tour to capture his flow of creativity.
such a great observation of the tenses. thank you for sharing
Excellent synopsis
Cover so good, Radiohead told You Tube not to take it down. From 2008 at Coachella...Amazing! Listen as Prince picks it up, shreds his guitar and goes wild with his own spin on lyrics to a classic song! I've listened 50 times and can never get enough! RIP, Prince!
You need to look up Prince at Montreaux playing the song "Empty Room". It's epic.
Shame it was never recorded in the studio, it couldve easily become his hendrix/all along the watchtower, or johnny cash's hurt
Holy crap, he turned a masterpiece into a MASTERPIECE!!!
I don't think that Radiohead consider Creep as a "masterpiece", neither a lot of fans, neither me
@Voracious Reader Creep is a great song. The Radiohead version is an absolute classic . But what Prince did here was absolute genius. You cannot deny this talent. And to find fault and cast aspersions like you've done is petty.

Let's put this into perspective. Prince had the ability to shred the guitar like this the whole time and still chose to rein it in most of the time in singles, on albums. A true musician knows when less is more. As a result, so many people would downplay Prince's guitar skills. But man....its Slash and Hendrix mixed in there. He has the speed and technical skill in his solo but it also emotes so well. He could play rock and r&b and blues and pop. He could do it all.
Prince was SOOOOO good.
79 million thumbs up
💖Prince💖
He drove me nuts with his restraint. He just never felt the need to go ham I guess, but as a big time Blues nerd I always wanted more
😭😭😭😭😭ABSOLUTELY 💯 ❤️
@@tonyv2373 He always saved his best guitar work for live performance, aftershows, rehearsals, etc. Also, he may have had restraint on most of his hits, but there's a lot of unknown and unreleased songs that he's more free on.
Only Prince could reword this song to be about someone longing for him and not come off as self serving
he is so epic he doesn't say the words ''creep'' or ''i am'' and still this is THE best cover of this classic ever - what a human
I think it's more kind of an ego thing where his persona clashed with having a self-hating monologue and calling himself a creep. I like the song, but I think the song suffers for him to make it about someone who isn't good enough for him...the turnaround is very Prince-ish, but it kind of reminds me of Aretha Franklin saying "I'm Elenor Rigby" instead of just singing the song. I love that he did the song, FWIW.
I agree with you. The song is, after all, about self-loathing. @@Beneluxer
@@DrGerbilLuluMae I think he kills it...I love his take. I just think it says a lot that he couldn't sing the words as they were written. And I totally respect that!! That is why he was Prince!!!
@@Beneluxer It could also be perspective. Considering all of the women pursuing Prince, I’m sure many of them were … creepy. To say the least. Like the David Alan Grier story about Prince. Lots of creepy women out there also. So, it may not have totally been an “ego” thing with Prince. Just a man with a different perspective.

To everyone that saying that he was the greatest guitarist or a monster on the guitar, also keep in mind that he never had one lesson. He is self taught on over 27 different instruments. Now that is a true genius! Oh and by the way, I agree with each and every one of you!
At age 15, while in high school, he wrote & played all instruments on a few demos!
He shopped them around, but didn't accept any offers because they wouldn't let him produce.
Check out his interview w/ Dick Clark during his first time on American Bandstand...Bada** MF!!!
This is not exactly true. The man was a product of a musical family, a public school system with supportive music teachers, and a community center bustling with musical mentors. Of course he was a genius, but he didn't arise out of a vacuum. Andre's mom was musical. He was mentored and included in the studio by Pepe Willie for Minneapolis Genius. I highly recommend the documentary "Mr. Nelson from the Northside" among others.

I was half way around the world. Just a Minnesota boy in Tokyo on solo travel. It was earth day, Over 100,000 people would celebrate in Tokyo together that day. In the subway to the celebration I see Prince on the TVs. A sense of pride came over me being a fellow Minnesotan. When I got off the train, I googled Prince to see if he was performing in Tokyo - Prince had passed away.
I was distraught, I was lost, i had no one to lean on. He may have been Prince, but he was a king to us in Minnesota.
I sang his songs in my head, they were so vivid I could hear them over the crowd - turns out my mind was not playing tricks on me. Purple Rain echoed from some speakers. I was pulled toward them, when I noticed hundreds of Japanese citizen swaying in a giant circle, singing. I joined along, find a bit of home halfway around the world
That is a beautiful story and I am glad to read it. I am also a Minneapolis boy. I was traveling often but home that day. He justified our existence on this frozen turd farm. If it was good enough for him, it was good enough for me. It's not the same here anymore.

Seeing Prince at The Troubadour for nearly 4 hours was a show that’ll never be topped. Played mostly jazz. 💜💜💜💜💜
I saw him play the entire Purple Rain soundtrack live, sequentially, in a small room at Paisley Park. It was an extremely cold night in February of 2000. That was during the Warner Bros fight, he wasn't able to play those songs fully in public. He was just doing melodies of the PR material then. So this was very unique. He took the stage at around 4am. There were 25 people in a room that couldn't have held 300, 25 including him and the band. The vast majority of the small, invite-only crowd left figuring he wasn't going to show, which wasn't unusual. I have seen him many times, but nothing compares to that morning. I opened a door and looked outside halfway through, looked up at the stars. It was clear to me that, no matter where anyone was at that moment, anywhere in the entire known Universe, there wasn't a single person anywhere in creation that was witnessing anything more spectacular than I was. It was an odd full circle, I had driven by the set of Purple Rain being filmed when I was 10 and just had an odd feeling I would be connected to that somehow. I work at a park now. Not legally allowed to say which park. But it's in Minnesota.
I feel so privileged to say I’ve been to 2 of his concerts & met him face 2 face ✨🤍

This was just transcendent. I can’t imagine what it must’ve been like in-person.
He showed up an hour late (they get fined for every minute the festival goes after midnight) and began his set with "Coachella.....I am here."
I've listened to this Prince version of "Creep" about 2 dozen times now in the last 3 weeks and every time I hear it, it is fresher than the previous time that I heard it... How is that? Only Prince!
Ive been listening to it since the following morning when this was played live at the Coachella concert at the Indio Polo Grounds, and I come back to it ever few months or so. Im not sure why exactly but it makes me happy and im certain ill keep coming back for several years
@@joemama-lq9yx Damn, that must've been awesome to have been there. I saw Prince live 3 times (4 if you count the time before anyone knew him that he opened for the Rolling Stones at the L. A. Coliseum) each time he put in a helluva show.
He has given a gift to every person who listened with an open heart.
❤️Indeed❤️
+Jeremy Avers Very true. I'm bawling my eyes out with this on repeat.
Very Simply and Very Perfectly Put
skitsy17 can I reply here? You really can't put RUclips recordings on repeat. What you can do is use Garage Band to record a digital music file while you've got this video playing. Save it as an MP4 (or 3, I'm not sure, it's been a long time). If you know any musicians who can clean up the sound noise, even better. Upload the file to them and then you'll have a unique tune for your digital music collection (iTunes or whatever you use). And just to show respect, I personally would make a donation to one of the many charitable causes that Prince cared so much about. Maybe find out what causes are important to Radiohead too. Then we're all playing nice : )
I understand the principle behind Prince removing his content from RUclips, but in the end, I think it might have backfired. Or it will in the future, when people who were babies or not yet born when he died won't have any live footage of him to show up randomly in their RUclips feeds. That's how I find AND BUY a lot of music. (I do not advocate stealing music--if you love it and it enhances your life, please support the artists.)
That's how this video came to my attention--showing up in my RUclips feed. It was in the lineup--I wasn't listening to Prince. I was checking out the sound blunder during Radiohead's Coachella performance last night (major bummer). Then I found this. I love it. Even if Radiohead isn't keen on this song, I really love it--both versions, this one and Radiohead's.
Guess I'll use Garage Band to create my own MP3 and put it on repeat too. And I'll make a donation since I cannot buy it.
So glad Thom Yorke insisted on putting this video back up after Prince's people removed it claiming copyright violation. Beautiful, haunting song--intellectual property belonging to Radiohead. Glad he persisted : )
RIP Sweet Prince
Thank you, Thom Yorke

I don't believe we all realize just how much of a prolific talent and a giant of a musician he really was. He was the last of the of the truly masterful musicians of our lifetime. He was the Motzart of the our era. Mastering multiple instruments ( could play 27 different instruments), writing his first song at 7 yrs. old, composing and writing hit songs for other professional musicians and entertainers. It is said that he only released 1/3 of all of the music and songs he had ever written and that he had stowed all of his unreleased music in a safe vault. We may still be able to hear new Prince music for years to come.
Thank you Mr. Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 - April 21, 2016)
P.S. He was also a very astute and a sagaciously intelligent human being
He said in an interview that he sometimes didn't give the label his best work. If that is true, I'm going to Paisley Park to get into that vault!
+Ernie Gamboa i understand and i am still still sad.
I don't believe any of us can comprehend what he was to music. He was an instrument, cannot see another on any horizon!! Prince is forever
Prince is God. he will be studied in the next centuries as much as we study Mozart. period
You realize Stevie Wonder is still alive? 🙂
Thank you for fighting to keep this 💫.... 😢 I love you Prince and you are forever loved and never forgotten.
Legend is thrown about these days but this man is THE TRUE LEGEND ❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧
Radiohead has had a long career, but to have their first hit covered by PRINCE! Of all people.... it says a lot.
prince is absolutely incredible, but mad shout outs to that drummer too. he contributes a LOT to how amazing this is too, keeping the pace with prince insanely well
He is a she
Hell of a power trio they were - Cora, Joshua & P.
Heard an aftershow from his 21 nights residency in London in 2007, they just killed it!
Whistler4u ...nope...
Vernon Hardapple Nope what? He's got a female drummer here.
CC Dunham is her name....
I was there..everyone was floored by the guitar playing
I was there and it was epic.
Prince was a creative genius. Vocally and musically. A beautiful man inside and out. Im sorry he suffered from terrible chronic pain, because i know what its like and how it robs you of everything, and how you have to fight off the depression. Fly high and rest in peace. Thanks for the music❤
My god.. if there is any doubt, in anyones mind, that prince was and still is one of the greatest guitarist of all time, show them this video and the rock and roll hall of fame "My guitar gently weeps" video. Dude was a badass.
His hall of fame show was prestige
Also remember he did not have much rehearsal time for that performance. A lot of the comments were not great, they felt he was showboating and what not. I loved it and I still watch it!
princelover1 he was showboating, it was the perfect time to showboat and make a statement for all the suckas that had doubt what time it was. Respect to the emporer of rock/pop
Marcos Martinez greatest guitar solo of all time 🎸💜
@@princelover1 He rehearsed PLENTY. Prince never did anything without pristine preparation. He just waited forever to respond to them that he would perform, but believe me, he was working on his act all the while. If you know anything about the man, he was obsessed with control and appearances. He never did anything (musically) spontaneously. Seriously, did you ever see Prince at a laid-back spontaneous jam session? Nope.
And he was indeed showboating at the Harrison tribute. It was sickening. Dude, save the "falling off the stage into the arms of your waiting bodyguard" and "throwing the guitar into the air" shit for your own shows. This was a tribute to a dead colleague. By the way, those antics prove that that performance was well rehearsed with his own people. Problem was, that tribute was not supposed to be about HIM.
We never thought of David Bowie or Prince dying and here we are, without either of them in one year. Music will never be the same.
it really was the worst of times -
As a diehard Radiohead fan, this is the best version of the song. Period. Once you 've ear Prince doing this cover LIVE, there is no way to come back. Prince is a unique musician master . Best version. By the way , Tom Yorke fight to KEEP Prince's live version on YT angaist Prince. For sò many years , this Prince LIVE was the only video you could find in internet.
Prince has always mesmerized me.
I can't believe I never got to see him live. I'll regret that forever.
If you saw him perform live you wouldn't want to see anyone else ever. I mean he is the benchmark for me. I saw him live just ONCE and it spoiled me. I'm not paying for lip syncing. Oh the memories. Seeing him stand on top of that purple piano with that beautiful white outfit on......ok let me wake up. It was an experience that I will always have with me
+Brian,...I'm with you on that one.
saw him live for the first time only 1 month before he died, got lucky i guess
Brian Knollenberg same here, I wish I would've made a stronger effort to see him live, I guess I thought he'd live and play forever.
damn lucky

From first sound wave to last, this clip documents the ascension to incontrovertible perfection (a state Prince reached with divine regularity). “Creep” at Coachella is arguably the most ragged, jagged, bruised-but-beautiful performance THE GOAT ever gave. This man was always 💯 with his vocals and you can’t even make out 33 1/3 of what he’s singing here. It’s a genius knowing - and Prince ALWAYS knew - that in this one astonishing instance, the less the listener understood the more they’d hear. It’s primal, and hair-raising. Then there’s the solos - and what can you even say? Prince channels the gotdamn cosmic in the last one. The vibration is so staggering, it’s literally breathtaking. Even experiencing this artistry through the limiting filter of time and technology, it still SEISMICALLY shifts the spaces we’re in RIGHT. FUCKING. NOW. There’s really no point arguing the point at this point: PRINCE IS WITHOUT PEER. THEN. NOW. 4EVER.
That is a brilliant and profound reflection, man! Thank you.✨️✨️👍🖖
Every now and then I stop by here (again) and even though it’s been 5 1/2 years since he’s gone it always hits me hard - what a loss, what a genius, so much music inside a guy of such tiny statue.
Keep resting easy, Prince and thanks that you joined our and my world while I’m around.
Beautiful words for a beautiful man! 💜

Yes he certainly did. He was good at everything.
So under-rated as both a guitar player and performer. He was such a low-key dude off the stage, he didn't care what people thought. True artistic, free expression, on a scale we don't see at all from today's "artists." They just don't have damn near the talent or charisma Prince had, and are far too caught up in being popular.
amen!
under-rated?
I think it was very well known that prince was one of the most talented guitarists that ever lived.
+Rick James he played all instruments on his albums-Genius.
+Douglas Proce dude... the only people who didn't think Prince had 'IT' were Joe & Jane Average... Anyone who knows & loves or performs & makes music knew without a doubt that Prince was all alone in brilliance & talent.
The Brother could do it all. Thank goodness he did.

very painful song. He slowed it down to torture level and sang it with all the pain intrinsic in the words, changing the words somewhat...this is an ego ripping song...brave of him to sing it. He did a stupendous job.
he wouldn't say creep..instead of saying I dont care if it hurts, he said you don't care if u hurts.. he killed the solo
He turned the song inside out; really moving.

And beautiful on top of that....
at 5:22 when he ends his guitar solo let’s the strings reverberate then cuts it and the back up band by sliding off the chord he was holding with a kind of gesture! i bet you the kids at this concert were completely blown away, it’s probably the first time they have actually seen a musical institution played on stage before and by one of the greatest guitar players of all time
Magical moment!!!
Damn Radiohead should be proud a genius covering their music

I saw this live. I came in not really understanding Prince at all and instantly became a fan. Watching him play, you understand everything about him, his style, his fashion, his soul. This was easily one of the best shows I have ever seen and will ever see.
Still missing him 😢 in my soul forever 💔
Still miss his talent. Still hurts. 😔😪
Rock, Funk, R & B, Soul, Jazz, Prince did it all. Thank you my Brother. Rest until another time.
Eric Clapton was asked how it felt to be a legendary guitarist. He said, I don't know ask Prince.
I know im a bit late to the party on this reply but .... Although there is no question Prince is a wonderfully talented guitarist, the quote about E.C saying "idk ask Prince" is not true. There have been many versions of guitarists (insert name here) asking other guitarist the same question with a reply of "idk ask (insert name here)" but unfortunately Snopes debunked this quite sometime ago.
@LookingIntoTheAbyss - thanks so much for clearing up my misunderstanding of Snopes. My point was nothing more than there has been so many versions of what E.C has answered after being asked by god knows who "how it feels to be the greatest guitarist" his answer has always been Prince or Duane Allman, Stevie Ray, Jimi Hendrix, Tom Morello, Chuck Berry etc... depending on who is asking/answering the question of ol' Slowhand. If you are into sharing links please send the one of the article quoting Clapton on this, I would love to read it. Thanks and happy holidays! :)

+Purple Yoda Lover You know losing a baby and vanity passing might of caught up to him. IMO
I think he really just never got over Boy Gregory. This is a man who lives inside his own heart and when that heart had become broken or fractured he didn't know how to deal with it. It Will catch up to you at one time or another. But with Prince I think it was a little to late unfortunately.

I agree, I think all the hurt from his child hood , loosing his baby was hard o him and he held it in. He was a proud person. Love and R.I.P Prince
Doesn't matter if you live or hate the man or the song; undeniable this is one of the best covers in modern music, Prince brings his own personal interpretation and not just emulating the original.
Prince had more pure talent in his little finger than most celebrated musicians of any genre or era.
Even in this less than perfect recording , from over a decade ago, he still reaches out across time and space to move people. He defines Immortal.
Miss his music terribly!
One thing I hate is that there is no rock in the charts anymore, where did it go 🤦♂️ Prince was my fave rockstar man, he could do anything better than anyone, if you practice one instrument for years and years and consider yourself a pro at that, prince comes along and does it better, and plays 27 other instruments like a god btw and everything else he cant get enough credit, its impossible, every record, every top 10 every genre would be his. RIP Prince, changed my life completely and countless others
Brilliant Joe. You’ve written my comment for me x

I practically listen to this song every single day... visually.. vocally...musically and my might add spiritually a masterclass of a performance, don't get me wrong the original artist version is great also... BUT! Prince takes it into a different realm Radio head shuold be honoured that he covered their song.

I come here to listen this every so often. Covers are never this good. It chills and thrills. So much emotion from his voice to his guitar. Best cover ever .
He showed up at Coachella to cross generations. They had a music god in front of them. I hope they got it.
Every time I hear this version of creep, I get chills down my spine. It’s the best cover of any song that I have ever heard. I don’t even know if should even be classified as a cover because, no offense to Radio Heads, but this is better than the original and I’d call it ‘Prince’s version.
Me2!!
Just like Whitney and Dolly, Jimi and Bob, Hall and Oats and Mike Oldfield (Family Man) sung theirs and somehow replaced the original all legends like Prince
The vibrato in his voice at the beginning gave me chills. Incredible talent.
His ability to make that guitar talk, and make it look so effortless in the process, is absolutely incredible.....
Best and most underrated guitarist ever. end. of. story.
Not many black guitarists play guitar in the "white, heavy rock" style
Goshawk Prince shouldn't ever be lowered to the class of black or white he was a Rock god.
Goshawk I didn't truly admire him until I saw the "smirk" respect tom petty threw at him during his tear it up solo "when my guitar gently weeps"
