I used the golden screws from one Miter stop. But this is perhaps a bit expansive for just the screws.
Spiral bits.
A must-have bit, it comes in different sizes and is very affordable and of good quality.
The small ones are perfect for cutting. They are very affordable.
This link is to Aliexpress, where you have the most choice. The Vendor this link is referring to, Is where I bought my spiral bits, so I do know the quality of these is great.

Your content is phenomenal Dennis! This is fast becoming my favourite channel for woodworking tool reviews, unique ideas etc. Also really like how your self-made tool upgrades look very professional. On other channels, the DIY tool upgrades/jigs often look very raw and generic. Many say it only matters that it works the way it should, but for me, looks are almost as important as functionality. Keep up the fantastic work! Warmest Regards from South Africa 🇿🇦💪🏼
You knocked it out of the park once again!! I just love the accuracy you build into everything you do.
The pace of your presentation is always ideal. Very good!
I have watched a ton of videos on shop projects and I've found it rare that anyone has a new idea or innovation to add. This was the rare exception. Thank you! Like always, you've elevated the shop game with your clever, innovative and beautiful designs. I love your design and am thinking about incorporating it my shop but I am concerned I'd miss the ability to use two stops (i.e., no flip stop). If the digital read out is really that accurate, I don't think it will be an issue as it looks like it would be pretty easy to dial in the exact measurement as before. However, I wonder if you've thought of a way to possibly have two stops. Was there a two stop design you were pondering that didn't make the cut? Thanks again!
Well, that was one of the advantages with a flip stop. Making this a flipstop would be too complex. It would have be possibly to add a flipstop, but then I loose the possibility to slide it till zero. So it is a compromise.
I really wish that valchromat material was available in the US, it looks so cool
I wish I could just hang out with you in your shop for a day... ha ha.
Another great video/project! You come up with some great ideas.
Great video for a great miter station. Love your design and the digital readout! Thanks.
Thanks for the video, been dreaming of building it for a while now and finally finished today!
What a super accurate station and so we’ll thought out and always well executed. It’s taken you awhile in setting up shop but it is looking awesome and buy that huge smile on your face I can see you are enjoying every step along the way
I just love the detail and accuracy that you build your set ups.
Love your enthusiasm and your mitre stop.. excellent content. Thanks
Next level content on this channel! 👍🏾
Perfect work 👍
Best greeting from good old Germany. I like your work
Thanks for making and sharing. Well designed system you have there.
Will have to rewatch several times to grasp all the information presented here. This project is well worth doing. Thank you.
What can I say, it is precision that I have not seen from any other woodworker. Very cool. Thanks
That's not a workshop, thats a sicence laboratory. 😊
Good work. We shared this video on our homemade tools forum this week 😎
Wow great! Thank you for that🙏

great design dennis
Top Dennis!!! Another fine video - awesome setup - phenomenal - clever, innovative and beautiful designs - love your enthusiasm - you inspire - another excellent video and conceptual design - you continue to innovate, inspire and educate - being so cheerful makes us happy - …as you can see we’re all hooked on hooked on wood - merry Christmas!
Thanks for your comment. Very motivating for me 🙏
Fantastic, I will watch a few more times. This is true engineering. This is working to very fine tolerance. Getting the gaps tight. The end product become better and results more pleasing. Love it.
Dennis, as an aspiring wanna be wood worker, I absolutely love your precision and accuracy.
I know that having excellent tools definitely helps, really enjoy how you have always strived for excellence.
Now I need a bigger workshop. I always clamp an aluminium profile to my miter saw for lack of space for a more permanent solution. But this build makes me want to rethink my priorities :D
Great engineering, Dennis.
Great build Dennis. This looks like a great addition to your miter station and something I will definitely be doing soon! What exactly did you protect the magnetic track with? I'm sorry but I heard "lab strip", but I imagine that's incorrect. Thanks again for the excellent video and your help.
My bench is 20 feet long. Where and what do I buy to get longer magnet tape?
this is excellent work Dennis! I am so curious how you get such good dust collection on your miter saw using a zero clearance fence. My experience has been quite different.
First! Love the videos, Dennis. Always great work.
Please post a link to the digital read out holder when you get a chance Dennis. Many thanks

Excellent work. Thanks
Great video, even greater concept. I Iiked it very much.
Hey Dennis, thank you so much for your videos. It helps us a lot on our journey. Quick question: What variant of Digital read-out meter did you buy? The 1m? I presume that the several variants have different cable lenghts. Thanks
Great video. I'm interested in making one. After two years is there anything you would do differently and is it as useful as you thought it would be? Thanks!
Hi Denis, this is such a wonderful video and a really creative idea on your part....I hope it brings you lots of joy.
A few questions regarding the digital reader you recommended:
- Does it come with the metal base that you use to secure it to your stop? Their website does not suggest that it does in their photos but it does show it in the videos.
- Is it meters only or does it support inches as well?
The idea to go directly to the blade, as a reference, makes so much sense and solves a lot of problems when trying to construct/install a miter stop system and if it ever gets knocked out of alignment you can simply adjust it back to the blade. Brilliant! Thank you so much for sharing this.
No, it comes not with the base. I will try to find the link.
It is metric and inches as well. nl.aliexpress.com/item/4000982030138.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.1000014.6.5bb9658cj3RscD&gps-id=pcDetailBottomMoreOtherSeller&scm=1007.40000.267768.0&scm_id=1007.40000.267768.0&scm-url=1007.40000.267768.0&pvid=3af0dd29-1785-43e2-85f5-a174d44deaa5&_t=gps-id:pcDetailBottomMoreOtherSeller,scm-url:1007.40000.267768.0,pvid:3af0dd29-1785-43e2-85f5-a174d44deaa5,tpp_buckets:668%232846%238107%2322&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2212000029546627775%22%2C%22sceneId%22%3A%2230050%22%7D&pdp_npi=2%40dis%21USD%2132.66%2114.7%21%21%21%21%21%40211b5e1d16646563951308339ec43b%2112000029546627775%21rec
@@HookedonWood Thank you Denis. I am appreciate your responding and all the hard work that you put into making these videos.
Hi Dennis. Thanks for video. It is great precise measure tool and of course perfectly precise execution ;-) As always great inspiration, thanks.
Is the frame in which the display is fixed, part of the package or it is custom product?
I wonder if I can use this for my table saw, I would love a drop on that
Looks like a great design - One thing I didn't see was how you matched up the magnetic tape to the width of the slot in the miter profile. Is there a link to the profile you chose? i believe there is very little height and alignment tolerance for these. Looks like the Grey meter model doesn't ship to Canada.
Hi Dennis, (sorry for the very long comment 😁) your mitre saw digital readout looks amazing and so well implemented, it's a great addition to your mitre saw station.
One thing I couldn't work out was how you "zeroed" the readout, does it push up to the blade when it's down and then zero the meter ? I presume you have to be careful not to deflect the blade if thats the way you do it.
I would love to implement this in my own Mitre Saw station, which I built to your Original design from your previous workshop.
Mine actually has five sections altogether, three fixed and two sliding, one to access the Drill Press base and another one to access my hidden sander 😁.
To use T-Track in it, I would have to remove all the sections and strengthen them with an extra strip of Birch Ply as they only have a single layer of black MDF at the moment.
It would also mean the T-track would have to cross the sliding sections of the bench which could be done by cutting the T-Track in the right places.
The only problem I see is the Sensor Strip which I assume will have to be continuous to work.
I will have to look at everything and see what I can come up with to make this work with my setup / mitre saw station.
If I do come up with a solution, I will let you know in the future.
Look forward to you Dust Extraction ideas as adequate dust extraction is always tricky on a mitre saw 😁.
Take care and have a great weekend.
If I understand it correctly I would opt for a fence that you can add. In this fence you can integrate the stopblock and ODR.
About the alignment. I wanted the base to stop at the fence of my Miter Saw. This way, I can never give to much pressure on the saw blade and I do have a constant distance to the saw blade. What I have to do is a one time setup of the miter stop, so that when the base reach the edge of the fence, the miter stop touches the blade slightly. I think I have your concerns covered :-)
@@HookedonWood Thanks for your reply Dennis, yes I've been thinking about it and a removable fence would probably be the only and easiest way, it could then be removed on the rare occasions that the sliding sections need to be removed.
I understand now how you set up the Zero point on the readout, thanks 😁
@colindoesdiy If I understand correctly, your desire is to use your zeroed out stop block with other tool on the bench. One way I have solved this similarly in the past is to accurately space the tools so that the zeroed out stop block reads at a round dimension (100 cm, 20 in, or something similar.) The small cutting sizes that I typically use can easily be added to the round "zeroed" measure with too much complexity or confusion
As always, amazing work! It is such a pleasure to watch you create. My next build will be a derivative of your drill press table.
Well done Dennis / Goe gedain
What does he mean when he says Led strips? Currently setting up the same thing, not yet received the read out meter, is it an aluminium track to house the magnetic strip?
Great!! Tanks a Lot för this 😉
Flexing the new Ultra apple watch I see 😮
I have to put it to a test, but I consider it capable enough for some good woodworking :-)
Dennis - another excellent video and conceptual design. Is the digital gauge only in metric? Or imperial & metric.
Awesome Video.
Great ideas and excellent work as always.
You are such an inspiration.
Looking forward to use some of your ideas for my upcoming workshop.
"When things go wrong its mostly just a lack of patience"
every project I've ever done
Mooi gezegd.
Hello Denis, perfect video as always and it was nice to see you excited also about it :) Pls what kind of t slot track you use, so there is no play for the sliding bar and also the LED track? Thank You so much
I can not place a link at this moment because I have problems reaching this part of the bang good site. But it is just a standard 30mm Miter track. For the sliding bar, I placed a link in the description. These do have some play. But when you tighten them, they stay pretty solid. LED strips are just basic led strips with a flat surface (cover)
Dennis.... love your video's! I'm not sure whether I'm missing something, but my OCD is kicking in. @1:53 on this video, and every video I've seen of yours recently, your "DON'T FORGET TO" overlay is incorrect???? You have it as DON,t FORGET TO..... Should it not be DON'T FORGET TO??? Again, if you're doing this for a reason, I apologise! But honestly.... I absolutely love your video's! They are really great. Stay safe!!!
Still waiting for the kapex 120 insert dennis ;-)
Another very enjoyable watch and I must say your making skills are a factory finish. I’m in love with that fence on the festool. That’s something I need!
Thank you👏👏
Great video! Very informative! Thank you!!
holy shit! thats awesome!
Great video! Can you tell me how long the analog miter stop from Banggood is? Can´t find that information on Banggood. Thanks!
Dennis, at 10:10 you say you are putting the magnetic strip in something but I can't quite catch what you say, is it LED strip?
Yes, it is a track we place a led strip in. This fits perfect and give protection against dirt
@@HookedonWood ok thanks. I'll try and find something similar
Can’t wait to incorporate one of these into my new station. I would like to use solid phenolic but time will tell. I’ll need 4 meters on the right and 3 on the left.
Hi Dennis!
I’ve got a question about the readout. I would like to use it with a flip stop, which stops e.g. 30,0cm away from the saw blade. Is it possible to calibrate the readout, so it says 30,0cm on this position, or can you only set/calibrate it to zero? (Can you set it to a given numer) Hope you understand what i mean.
Great job again man, can”t wait to see your dust solution.
Greetings from bavaria
Dominic
How long is the delivered magnetic strip?
1 till 3 or 5 meters. You can choose
a question about the position readouts, can you set/reset the zero on them (like the tare function on scales)?
You can zero it on every position.
Dennis- you continue to innovate, inspire and educate. Thank you for all of your hard work behind the scenes to bring us such world class educational content. I love this gauge- just in the process of building a new mitre and drill station bench so the timing was perfect. Did you “fix” your drill station bench or does it slide in and out like your last workshop to allow the extra height?
This time my the surface is fixed. I never needed the capacity so far but when i would fold the drill press table out of the way and use the workbench table, i have even a larger capacity. Because the original drill press table did not goes deeper than the workbench top. So, it is not needed at second thought
Thanks so much for the quick response... will make my upgrade a little simpler!!
Awsome job 👍 what is the material that you used for your table tops?
That is what we call, full colored MDF. It is a no-brand material. It is comparable with Valchromat, but a lot cheaper. Unfortunately, not every available. I pay around 100 euro for a sheet.
Dennis, just checking... you are not aware of any way to buy that black MDF in the States, correct? What brand was that?
Some viewers told me that they sell the Black MDF in different countries. Also in the states. you can find it at my site: hookedonwood.online/Frequently-asked-questions/
But this all seems brands. What I have is not a brand, just full colored mdf. I pay 100 euro for a full sheet.
You are jpking about festool right
Of course
Amazing idea! Take the guesswork out of the equation. What is the magnetic strip in? From the links I don’t see any thing that would work? Again thank you!! Keep them coming
I noticed that you use a lot of that black MDF-looking board. Is that material stronger and more durable than regular MDF and plywood?
I looked into M1 Caliber and ProStop and one not feasible and the other too expensive. I'll check this one out.
Seems that miter stop from 2:23 is not available anymore.
Ha Dennis welke track gebruik je,
Thanks voor alle tips en tricks gr geert
where do you buy that black MDF ? is it available in the US ? thanks
Where did you get the track that you used for the magnetic strip?
YOU SHOULD SELL KITS AND PLANS FOR THE PROJECT
Two words .... Next Level
Brilliant work, Dennis! It really turned out fantastic! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Hey Dennis,
Thank you so much for your great ideas. For months I was thinking about a good idea for my miter saw stop and no solution was nearly as good as yours!
For that reason I can‘t await to see what your solution for the dust extraction will be.
It is always such a joy to see you work and the great results.
Keep it up and all the best.
Ray
You are such an inspiration - your work is close to perfection! I look forward to every new video! many thanks for sharing. You would certainly also enjoy a Shaper Origion - perfect for use with grooves : 7:36 😊
Maybe you could add a small solar panel (similar to a calculator) and it could give just enough voltage to keep it alive? Or increase the battery capacity.
When I have to change it ones a year it is not a problem for me.
Digital mitre stop for $70, bargain!
Hello..
I habe a question….
How big is your Workshop…
I would also Luke to build a new ohne.
Greetings from Germany
My workshop is 5.00 x 10.00 meters. I would make it as big as possible. That is most future proof :-)
@@HookedonWood thanks…Greetings vom Bavaria…
Only drawback i see is that the display is attached to the stop itself. So if the stop is 10ft away you have to walk 10ft to move and read the display. The reekon m1 is attached right on the saw fence for easy reading and no walking.
If you crack the: "miter saw dust extraction code" you will hit RUclips gold 🙂
Can't wait for the next part of the video, because I have to build a dust collection for my miter saw ;-))))
Wow, wo bekomme ich solche Anschläge her ? Gibt es diese auch für die KS120 ?
Leider nicht!
Thanks Dennis! I love your enthusiasm and your joy of building!
how long is the tape that comes with these? i can't seem to figure it out. i really would like it to be 12"
Totally awesome! Will definitely build that into my mitre station. Thanks Dennis
Excellent video. And really nice workshop!
you are absolutely amazing!!! it is always a pleasure to watch you
Great Video Dennis!
my compliments !

Crisp and clean fixture design. ✌ 😃
Great job Dennis!
Another great video
Very interesting.
Very cool 😎
First!!
Hey Dennis. Just wondering I you ever use/review power tools from Banggood, particularly Hongdui?
No jet, But I will look into it.
I found this channel the other day & I literally woke my wife up for about 5 min to talk about how I had found something incredible and it had really inspired me. My problem has always been that my creativity far exceeds my confidence in my own abilities, and one can imagine that leads you to doubt your own ideas and look for others to confirm your own or inspire them for you. After watching several videos (I went full alice in wonderland that night), I came away with some amazing things I can apply in my new shop, but more importantly it showed me how that lack of confidence has poisoned my ability to create and make my own mark on things. Thanks
Sorry for my late response. Thanks for your comments. Liked it:😀
