Loving the vids! Keep them coming 👌
Thank you glad you enjoyed!!
great channel boys, giving me all the info i need for my 2jz cheers
Awesome mate great to hear!
Been waiting for an install video like this 🙏🏽
Thank you @Aaron!! Have more videos on the is300 coming very soon !
If you know anything about turning a wrench on a car everything in this video screams do not do this in the way that they did it
The engine was being turned the wrong way, and the wrong marks on the cam gears were set/used. I don't think that I've ever seen such an oil change neglected 2JZ this bad before... That's impressive. Well.... Best of luck with that engine.
The car was neglected by previous owners not by me
@@nickoschristodoulou4427 Yes. That's many years of neglect. I didn't think it was from you as you couldn't have owned that car for that long.
agreed, that nasty shit sets off my ocd, at least run some marvel mystery oil or amsoil flush.
you haven't been to japan then lol, some of the most neglected 1j's and 2j's i've ever seen.
@@jakoooob2521 I have the 2JZGTE VVT-i Aristo engine in my garage that's going into my '91 A70, and I must say when I first took the valve covers off - it did look a little neglected on oil changes. By no means was it bad. I have seen other videos from people who got the same engine for projects, and I must say - as of right now I seemed to have lucked out. I'd say the engine has roughly 100K miles on it; ROUGHLY. Sadly the engine in this video looks like one of the owners hated their car (not the poster of the video), and didn't believe in oil changes at all.
@14:26 what it that device you put there between the cam gears and where can I get one? Thx great vid!!
Have you gotten any numbers from the dyno yet? I am looking forward to doing these by the end of the year. Not sure if it worth rebuilding the head or just sending it with these 264 cams.
Havn't had the chance to as of yet but it is deffinately on the cards
I put some OBDX 264 cams but car started to misfire. I set it on the stock Timing marks, I noticed you put them on Advanced Marks.
Try it out and see how you go
Can you link the cams you got? Idk if it has to be the vvti specific ones
@Kevin Correa hey man heres the link!
Vvti 264 drop in cams!

I have heard that bigger camshafts decrease vaccum for the master break cylinder did that happen to you and if it did was it alot or not really
yes this is correct, we had ever bigger cams on our built engine which decreased even more vaccum
Hey I have the same engine and I plan on doing the same thing, the one thing I can’t figure out is how you plug and play tunned it, what device and program did you use
@Dr. Disappointment hey ! these cams are drop in cams, so everything is pretty much plug and play. although getting it tuned afterwards is more reliable to make sure everything is running smoothly and more power gain in a refined tune
Wow great video !
Glad you enjoyed it
Not only did they take the cam cabs off from the tighten them wrong and did not use engine assembly lube oil is not sufficient as assembly lube
So you guys did not do valve springs and retainers? How is the car running? I plan on getting the same cams just not sure if I should upgrade the springs and retainers
Car was running perfect, gained top end power and felt good 💪
Awesome! I think I might go with the springs and retainers just because I am about to hit 100k on the stocks and just in case if I decide to boost and go with the 272 cams
Thought you could not turn engine counterclockwise ???
You sir are correct... don’t follow this vid
What kind of performance gains did you get?
Hi @Chris Rey, we have yet to put the is300 on a dyno for exact power figures, but deffinatly noticeable more top end power!
Just out of curiosity why did you not check valve clearances after you installed the cams?
@James Hollywood Hi good question
These engines have hydraulic lifters no need for adjustment as they are self adjusted
@@AutoMotiv8ed usually the shims require replacement - regardless, good video :)
I'm a cylinder head specialist 1st I've ever herd of a jz being hydraulic buckets lol soo many people make this mistake hope you don't burn a valve out or wreck your new cams.....
@@gwanam6319 😂 I almost bust out LOL when I read that too.
Do not follow this video as a guide you will fuck up your engine
Is valve lash not adjusted or did the shims work out ?
Was wondering the same thing, especially with those running new springs
I guarantee you they’re only going to work for less than 5000 miles
How do you adjust that adjustable cam gear
If you time the engine right the new/old VVT gear should turn/rotate "right" into place; as long as the notched line is used, and not the dot. I'm sure this is not relevant anymore, but I just felt like replying anyway.
@@ruleroftheundersky570 can/how can you improve performance with this when you can time the same way with your oem gear
@@hamzaray5701 If you're trying to get performance out of a VVT engine the safest bet is to tune it with an aftermarket ECU that supports it. What gains could be had - I don't have the answer. Due to the nature of the limitations the VVT cam gears degree of rotation has I'm pretty sure not much can be done on an old JZ with VVT-i; if at all. I don't think it wise to manually advance/retard it. A lot goes into it. Such as if the cam/valves, etc has been changed or not. Every video I've seen of people timing the VVT gear on a JZ always put it back to factory spec. I'd follow that example. I am with my engine going into my Supra. Sorry if I read your comment wrong, and answered poorly.
Did u guys to plug and play or did u tune it ?
Hi @Random Kid, these cams are the largest you can go as a "drop in" which means, yes, plug and play. But in the future we will be looking into aftermarket copmuter and tune also.
Stock buckets and shims too?
in this motor yes
Did anything happen because the wrong marks were used?
no
Stock ecu?
Yes sir
272?
264 drop ins
Dang. Fuel was cheap a year ago.
wow sure was!!
never seen that much sludge on an engine, my 140k mile is300 has like 1/10th of that sludge
Seeing all that sludge made me glad I saw none when I did all my maintenance a few weeks ago
poor maintainence from previous owner, but the car still going great. i guess its that toyota reliability
@@AutoMotiv8ed yea definently, my radiator and headlight support is held together by zipties and wrong size botlts
Should've changed the valve stem seals while u were in there. I bet they're bad
were about to do somthing even bigger and better... ruclips.net/video/MOxdUTi8rAA/видео.html&ab_channel=AutoMotiv8ed
Lmao adding performance cams to a non turbo JZ is stupid. Good content but definitely not beneficial at all with zero tuning, shimming or turbo.
ruclips.net/video/MOxdUTi8rAA/видео.html&ab_channel=AutoMotiv8ed .... we know this
