    Thank you Kristian. As a new owner of the EX30 I am generally very pleased with my car. The two most important factors for me in choosing a car are driving dynamics and styling and I think the EX30 wins on both accounts, if it looks right then it will probably be right.
    Yes there are certain issues with the software, voice activation does help and Google is pretty good, and as more updates come things will hopefully improve.
    The other important factor for me is reliability and durability which hopefully the Volvo name holds good, time will tell.

      Great to hear. Yeah can totally agree on driving dynamics and styling 👌 Hopefully Volvo will manage to resolve some of the issues eventually. Then this could really be great.

    1.4 update greatly improved the driver attention tracker. Now, it barely pops up. Sensitivity is turned way down. Also, for the lights. I have high beam on auto as well. The range for the adaptive cruise control distance automatically adjusts based on the speed. The range setting is personal preference and country regulations. I use medium as short is a €100 fine if caught on camera since the distance is too short.

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  4 месяца назад +1

      I also have high beam on auto, but it won't let you activate high beam before it's really dark. In the "transition hour" you have you change the settings on the screen to force it on.

    • @jpmcg69
      @jpmcg69 4 месяца назад +1

      I agree Eugene some of the elements of the update were useful, however, our tracker is still merrily binging away at the slightest movement away from the centre and now both credit card keys do not work. Also wish they would hurry up with CarPlay.
      Yesterday my screen froze and I had a telephone call and the radio on at the same time, Volvo did not have a clue as to how to reset. Decided to RTFM and in there it stated holed the - and the Vol down button simultaneously on the driving wheel and wait until the screen reset, it worked!

    I agree with most of your points, but for me the positives outweighs. And at least the high beam is easily fixed, push the stalk one time and it's auto mode, push it once more and it's manual high beam! (Found it out just by accident since the manual is so poor...)

      @fredrikgranfors Yeah. Totally understand that the good overweigh the bad.. There's much good here. What? You get manual high beam also when the settings are set on the "auto" mode? So you could active high beam even if the car doesn't agree? Have to try that.

    I have only two questions...
    1. Why the hell did you bought this car if you do not like so many things about it?
    2. Didn't you test drive the car before giving >40k for it?!
    Most of the things you said, such as mirror setting... personally does not bother me, or I did not notice them. I set mirrors only once, and do not have a need to move mirrors down, I can see all I need. Along that, there is a reverse camera, and is more than enough if you know to drive the car. Other options for which I need to reach the central screen... well, what do you really need when driving? A steering wheel, stalks for blinker, lights and washer, break and gas pedal... that's it. Once setup, no need to fiddle around the screen while driving.
    I have Ex30 Twin, with 1.3.1 update, no any SW issues at all. Is it a perfect car ? No, but it is between excellent and perfect. At least, this is my opinion.
    I've seen people complain about the range and reporting 24kw/h or more. WTF? I can't get above 18kw/h in a mixed driving including 180km/h on a highway for some 15-20 minutes time. Outside temperature was 32-36 Celsius. Along WLTP, there is a "Dynamic range" calculation which shows different numbers based on the current driving style. So, when I top up the car to 100% it shows 377km range in "dynamic mode", but actually I get up to a real 410-440km depending on road conditions, and above explained driving style. Car tends to be excellent with consumption depending on road condition.
    To explain this a little bit....
    I was driving part of the 76km long road with constant slope of about 2-3%, the car wasted electricity of only 12km of range (average speed 86km/h). Started with 300km range, reached 76km away destination and had 288km remaining range. So, when it is consuming battery energy (with the pedal to the metal), it "drinks energy" such as platoon of alcoholics, but when it saves the energy, it's a lot, much more than I would expect.
    Some people are driving TWIN version constantly with All-Wheels-Drive on, which is completely unnecessary. The car will activate front engine when needed (overtaking or dynamic twisty road driving).
    People complains a lot about consumption for a car with 430 horsepower?! C'mon. What do they expect ?! How much petrol engine with 430 horsepower would consume ? 24-28 liter/ 100 km ?!?! Regarding that, EX300 is absolutely above exceptional.
    I saw some people concern about rear-wheel driving and loosing traction. I can confirm it is almost impossible to get the rear end to lose control. One have to be driving really, really insane to achieve that. RWD EV cannot be even close comparable to the RWD ICE vehicles. Two completely different worlds. For anyone having concerns about that...just don't.
    Charging on a long trip.... If there are no superchargers nearby, a 50kw charger is more than enough if you "pit stop" for a short coffee and toilet break. It will charge before you manage to get your coffee and stretch your legs.
    Only few issues I noticed...
    1. car is very quiet, so in dusk or night driving, deer are not afraid and quite often jumps in front of the car. So, drive cautiously.
    2. Automatic lights are quirky. When driving into the curve with highly reflective road signs, the car can detect this as an incoming car and can switch off high beam in the most unpleasant moment.
    3. When not driving on completely smooth asphalt, the car feels every bump. If I drive a "little" bit more dynamic, and for example run over bumpy road or road patches, the car can jump more than expected... quite unpleasant. This is most likely due to the 2 tones of the car and not quite perfect shock absorber settings. Actually, this is not bad, as it forces you to not get crazy on the road and drive slowly. I will go that far and say I think this is done intentionally by Volvo for security reasons.
    4. For dynamic twisty road driving, characteristic are medium. For me, it was even hard to follow an old Ford Focus 1.4 on a twisty road. The car is just too jerky. For other use cases, the car is absolutely excellent.
    5. The car has a brutal acceleration and big disadvantage are speed cameras :)))) Ultra fast acceleration is usable mostly when you need to overtake or showing off to some Audi TFSI 3.0 :)) .... Joke aside, the car is really brutal, and not for everyone. Such power should be banned for everyone younger than 40, as it definitely requires some level of maturity and responsibility while driving something with a such exceptional power and acceleration.
    The bottom line, the more I drive it, the more I like it. For anyone looking into the car, take the test drive for at least 200km if possible to get to know the car and then decide.

      @user-me9ft1gs4g Weird that you feel offended that my video's may or may not give the EX30 a bad reputation.
      I have driven the car over 5.000 km.. Noticed many of the flaws within the first minutes. And I always share my honest opinions.. I've tested it much more than many others as well. I don't think it's much better than my video's show. But it doesn't matter what I think. As I also said in this video. You have to decide what you think about it. If the good overweight the bad.
      Think you need to watch this video again. With a different mindset. I highly recommend to testdrive this car. I'm giving it alot of praise. Since it's a awesome car on many areas.
      Sadly it's not just good things to say about it. Honestly I'm really glad that you enjoy your EX30. That's what should matter. For you. We're all different. But I've talked to very very many people that have tested (and bought) the EX30. You'd be surprised how many that agree with one, two, three or all of my complaints.
      But if your happy with your EX30, then why does it matter if my RUclips review makes someone cancel a EX30 testdrive? I just don't understand your point..
      Either way. Hope you have enjoyed some of my EX30 video's, and maybe future content. Maybe we disagree on how good the 30 are.. Either way I wish you happy miles with the 30.
      Have a great day..

    • @Tomislav-z9u
      @Tomislav-z9u 4 месяца назад +1

      @@volvo_kristian I've simply stumbled on your video, and got wrong impression you bought the car then complaining it's not good, and now you're creating videos about bad things about the car. (my bad :)) ). You would be surprised how many people order (or decide not to order) a car without a test drive just by watching RUclips Video reviews.
      I'm not offended at all, and hope you're not also. Off course everyone is different with different opinions. There is no perfect car, "flaws" is maybe too strong word, I would call them quirks, They can be fixed with SW update, and probably will over the time.
      When I was thinking about to go to an EV or Hybrid or stay with ICE, I was watching (too many) reviews about EV's in general, pluses and minuses.....(it is still something new for many of us). I've tried a few models, did not like them, or they were just not my style or so.. Did not get "that feeling" about the car, or being insanely pricey etc.
      I've got an opportunity to test drive EX30 last year while it was not yet available in my country and probably would not buy it based on some online reviews I saw in that time. Because I needed to replace the car, in the meanwhile I would buy something else, would not wait for "unknown" availability here.
      Opportunity to test-drive Ex30, completely changed my perception about EX30. For EX30, I mostly saw (not referring to you or your video) reviews, comments and complaints (redit/ex30) about the range and missing buttons, how it is very inconvenient... this is always somehow in the focus. I agree, this might bother some people. I got use to it very quickly, even for central speedometer (I thought it will be a problem) Turns out, not at all.
      So I simply gave my experience about the car for things I've not seen in the media (which would help me more to decide than missing buttons and few quirks). I believe that for EV, range, consumption and regardless of car digital experience (do not how to call it) "physical" driving experience because of weight of battery, and security is more important simply as this is the essence of driving a car.
      All the best!

    Thanks again Kristian, due to your reviews we were reassured when as a result of your videos we bought ours and with 2,500 km on the clock we still like (not love) the car! We have the Performance model and goes like stink up the dual carriageway. I have lost count of the number of Audis and BMWs that I have burnt up and I am almost over it, almost, honestly. It still brings a smile to your face as they are left wondering what the hell was that mid-size family saloon burning my Porsche up??? 🙂
    Pros - Performance, battery life, comfort, suspension is amazing and copes really well with our terrible UK roads, leg and knee room, sound system, Volvo service, clean cabin and front dash, boot space for the model size. Its bloody quick in a straight line but rolls in corners!
    Cons - Handling and suspension a bit soft, even when turned to firm, visibility when reversing not great at the sides, central console and lack of a Drivers display (Polestar still have them), Stupid Speed Warnings (mostly wrong) and eye tracker (F*&^ing irritating and nearly always wrong). Key cards just do not work and are not practical to handle, you need a degree and a lot of time to work your way through the manual online! Auto everything with no initial explanation on how to best use it!
    One last gripe and that is the One Pedal Driving which is nowhere near as good as the Polestar. Maybe its just that we were used to a more agressive regen stop but personally I prefer it and felt safer in the Polestar, the EX30 can swerve randomly and in reverse it has a mind of its own! I am never quite sure if it is going to actually stop, keeps you on your toes if a little unsettling at times!
    The Cons list is quite long and now that I have seen the Polestar 4 I have a little bit of buyers remorse but on balance we are happy with the EX30 and most importantly the Mrs likes it, job done!!!

    Thanks for posting this video, saw the video with you and Kris Rifa comparing the EX30 and the #1, normally I drive compact to mid-sized vehicles but, being retired, don't really have a need for a large car however, I do prefer a car with some space. I recently saw the Zeekr X, it is priced lower, with an interior looks as one would expect from a Premium brand, that interior is what the EX30 should have. I'm sorry but, the EX30's interior doesn't match the exterior or what one would expect for the price. I would take a bit more range over the increased power that would rarely get used.
    I agree the EV3 is done better internally, with physical switches, I am thinking about looking into the KIA. I've had a S6 T5 R-Design and a KIA Optima Hybrid at the same time and while I liked the power of the S60, the Optima was quieter, didn't give me any issues, while the S60 had Audio issue that never got fixed, ended up turning it in early and got a Stinger. Looking to get back into EVs (had an Audi etron) and the Chinese offerings are looking really good with a lot of features and better price than traditional auto makers. Waiting to see what comes out to make a decision.

    you are totally right with the positive but even more with the negative, especially the missing steering wheel screen, even a little one, or at least a head up display, because we are talking about /with good equipment/ a car over 48-52 k car, and more over if the speaker assist would be super functioning like normal volvos and competitors in this price range do, turn the driver alert out, or attach the side-mirror than maybe we could think about it, bit this software is simply not refined enough, not to speak of the speed limit alert chaos… so summary: nice looking car, fun to drive but this is not enough, it needs at least three software and facelifts inside updates, to make it compatible to a kia ev 3. The v1.4 software has ironed out the driver attention issue - first thing I do is click off the speed limit and driver attention on the main settings menu. easy and quick now- has let me map the one pedal to the customise button on the wheel.

    Most of your points are where volvo tried to reinvent the wheel when it wasn't broken. Hopefully most can be fixed in software updates. For me a 20 min drive was all I needed to know the biggest problem for me was the bouncy ride which makes slow speed driving difficult due to the aggressive throttle mapping. If you go over a bump the motion makes you push and release on the throttle voluntarily causing a jerky ride. The opd wont stop the car fully quick enough. You didn't mention the key card either!

Also, I have a feeling that the throttle behaves differently when the speed limit warning is disabled than when it is enabled.

    Sadly the promised mileage is not reality. I have never had more than 360km on a full charge - I don't speed, no sudden braking, I follow all the rule for an EV. Plus it's not even winter yet. Car finish is great though, but it's a LOT to pay when for such low mileage.

    I think a good conversation that I've not heard anyone have about the Volvo or any of the other than Tesla traffic picture focuses on the CPU and overhead in the infotainment tablet / PC that's in all EV cars. Tesla does a great job of installing one that has a good amount of overhead given how everything is going through it and I think Volvo on the other hand might have cheap down and put a Google tablet Chromebook special in

    Don't buy a Volvo EX30 as if kids/dogs in car and you want to go into a shop/leave car alarm goes off, no way of stopping it! Software is very poor. If I had been told that I couldn't disable alarm, I wouldn't have bought it.

    I stick with my xc40 petrol, and my next car will be the new LR Defender diesel.
    I find volvo has taken a very cheap way to build their cars. Anyway safety a part this is a chinese geely car. No accents of classy and luxury like the actual 60 or 90 series.
    On top of that at home i have also the new jeep avenger, and the fit and finishing is more or less at same level of this volvo, in some detail even better, and in some detail even better than my xc40. I’m sad to say that because i did love volvo and i was loyal customer but not anymore.

    Many thanks for this video. I agree with all your points. Additional I would mention the annoying key fob the bad and dangerous opd and the capacitive shit on the steering wheel.
    It's my fifth Volvo since 2019 and i am very angry about this car. My mistake was to order the car in July 23 just after the presentation.
    With all my very positive experience i trusted Volvo would build another reliable car. That was a big mistake.

      @volvo_kristian  4 месяца назад

      @andreasarnold876 Glad you enjoyed my video. Firstly it's sad to hear about your experience. But not surprised either. Yeah can relate to both the key fob and also the useless steering wheel buttons.. Understand your trusted them. I did the same a couple of years ago with the XC60. Ordered initially after the launch. Hadn't seen the car live, but signed up. Didn't regret it. But that was a 100% Volvo product. Following the same foot steps as XC90, V90 and S90. Shared platform and powertrain +++ So wasn't worried.. The EX30 however are completely different. And if your coming from previous Volvo's that can be a hard transition.. As you sadly have experienced.. Not sure how long you are tied up with your 30, but I can totally recommend both XC40 and C40 if you still want electric Volvo.. Then there's also two other really awesome Volvo's coming.. during 2025/2026.. So hang in there. Hopefully your back to being a pleased Volvo owner soon..

    EX30 is doomed in the US now, with tariff wars causing another year of delivery wait here. Cancelled my reservation. Anyway, the car is just a Geely budget mobile, disguised as a Volvo. Its UI stinks badly, compare it to other Volvo models in this area of the design.

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  4 месяца назад +2

      @voyageurmike Don't you think Volvo will solve the tariff issue when they start up production in Belgium? Hopefully US will get cars from there instead of China cars. And yeah. It's a huge difference between EX30 and other Volvo's

    • @voyageurmike
      @voyageurmike 4 месяца назад +1

      Last I heard, it'll be a year or two until manufacturing begins in Belgium. Before I cancelled my reservation recently, Volvo delayed my delivery date to between "early 2025 and late 2025". If Kia is selling the EV3 in North America by whenever Volvo starts selling EX30 here, they will trounce Volvo. I think the EX30's window of opportunity for penetrating the US market is dubious.
