After watching this video I’m considering fishing for it using big chunks of mackerel. Channel cats also make a tasteful dish after being seasoned in vinegar, oregano, garlic, paprika, cumins and salt.

    • @jq206

      @NDYakAngler 100%! Whopper ploppers and anything with big commotion will get em to bite! We use a wooden tool called a "Waller holz" which basically translates to "Catfish wood". Its a curved wood piece with a flat spoon like end, which you use to hit the water. If you do it right, it does a "plopping" sound very similar to the sound a whopper plopper makes if you jerk it really hard. And we use that equipment to get em to rise from the bottom. Especially if you use vertical jigs

    18:06 THAT would have been an interesting property for you to have for sure! Anything on a body of water could potentially make your YT life a bit easier. I lived on Lake Cherokee in Texas when I was a kid and my step father made a chumming system out of a 4" PVC pipe between our boat houses. He'd pour dry dog-food in it and before long, we had more blue gills swimming to us than we could stand. I remember catching them regularly on bare hooks...lol.

    • @ndyakangler
      @ndyakangler  Год назад +2

      I think the biggest thing that turned me off on that property, other than one less bedroom than we needed, was that the VA hospital owns the land between the back yard and the river and they have a big fence there that would prevent me from dragging my kayak down, or even wandering down to the river to toss a line in.
