I realize that this is an five plus year old video, however upon finding it on RUclips this afternoon, I decided to watch the video. So now I had to subscribe, if even just for your calm, dry sense of humour. I like your style. Ich wunche sie einen guten tag und bedanke mich fur deinen interessanten video. Tschuss! Fred (Manfred)
I recently acquired one of these units and it also had a failed 10uF tantalum cap in one of the two the electrometer modules. It manifested as a recurring OFLO condition on the display when that channel was selected. I will likely replace all the tantalum caps on the electrometer boards and be done with it. Regarding the fan noise, I had the same problem with my unit. It turned out to be dried up lubricant and dirt on the fan bearings. Cleaning and lubricating the fan made it much quieter.
This is a great channel. I'm an electrical engineer by training (though no longer practice that - now into AI ) but I love watching these. By the way you sound like *Eckhart Tolle* . Just as calm and present. 😊
I've just found your channel recently but I'm already a subscriber...every video I've watched has grabbed my attention thru to the end, and the humor is nice and dry and just the right amount. Thanks Marco Reps, love the videos
I leaving for the Appalachian trail for a thru hike attempt in about a week so my cash is a fairly spoken for atm but once I get back I'd absolutely be willing to support you on Patreon, I know these components and accessories you're having to buy get very very expensive.
I really enjoy your hunt for the culprit. And I can relate to the stacking issue at the end. Tell us about those $60 IC's from the last video. I have a treasured Radio Shack Model 100 laptop that needs fixing. You have inspired me to crack it open.
Well, good luck then! One of the expensive ICs is an AD974 "4-Channel, 16-Bit Data Acquisition System" with SPI output. There are oscilloscopes in abundance these days, but maybe a curve tracer or something linke that ...?
Out of curiosity how much do you typically spend on equipment that needs to be repaired? You’ve inspired me to want to try repairing equipment so I’ve been keeping an eye on eBay but it’s hard to say how much is too much. Also, why did you buy the 619? Can’t wait for the next video!
There was a time when broken old stuff was priced reasonably on eBay. I think this one was 130 EUR or something. Now I haven't seen anything interesting + affordable on eBay all year :
Marco Reps yeah it does seem that way. I’ve seen keithley 2000s going for $175 at the lowest and sometimes I’d see a single channel 619 for $50 but then shipping was $100. Are there any other places you know if that sell used equipment? I know the man down under, Dave Jones, goes to auctions sometimes. Maybe that’s the move
Hello, I came across your channel a short while ago, thank you for sharing your experiences!. By the way, can you confirm that the K619 has a two lug connector, which seems to be different from the K-236, which seems to be a three lug one? Thank you!
@@repsJust a cheeky question if I may. I want a uA current range on my fluke79 meter, is there a cheap PCB project that I can make or something not to expensive to buy, because I want to measure the "deep sleep" of my atmega (and others around 500nA) maybe using opamps or instrument amplifiers and perhaps use the mills volt range on the meter ?...I am watching your lovely Kiethly repair vids with jealousy in my thoughts and envy in my wallet.

Now your just showing off with your very impressive fan collection .. great vid ..
keithley knows how to design front panels 🤤
That is clearly an air raid siren, not a fan. :D

Man you make me laugh and inspire me @ the same time....... Thanks!
A Keithley Doctor...OMG that buzzer.....
Didn't knew tantalums could short without showing any signs on it on them.

You can make a calibration cover from some cardboard, or even cling wrap to keep air inside it.
Nobody: How many fans do you have?
Marco: Yes.
I would like you to try all of those fans and select the quietest one.
Hey Marco Reps, why do you like Keithley so much? Can you make a video explaining why you like keithley?
Somebody loves fans.
was that an end mill in a drill to open the package? lol
i like how say potentiometer 9:43 ( and in every video ) , make me think looking a serious german engineering video ( actually was ? :O )

Yes, confirmed! 2-lug coax on 619, 3-lug triax on 236 and 237, 2-lug triax on 617 for example
Nice unboxing. Some inspiration taken from AvE I guess :D
or Aaron Kyro from braille skateboarding lol
Cooking video? Why not a baking a lab kuchen video?
But with this awesome sounding fan something else has to be done :-)
Its taken me over 2 years to remember the "just business" quote, I think its red dwarf?

How much were the cables?
What cables? This one has normal 2 pole BNCs, triax is an option! But coincidentally I am uploading a new vid with triax cables right now :)
👍👍👍
Hauptsache Du machst den Karton mit dem Akkuschrauber auf. Sympathischer, komischer Vogel ;)
"give me eighteen seconds".
"Just business, nothing personal" :L
Continuity Bounty Hunter LOL
Put some tape over that buzzer
He just has a box of fans in the closet
the front panel pcb is pure porn
look at the resistors, all oriented the same way
Did he just make a virgin joke? ^^
