Every time I watch this guy's channel I picture Bob Ross spending the afterlife fishing in one of his paintings...relaxing, beautiful scenery, top notch all the way around, refreshingly different, in the best kind of way! This helped me get through a pretty ruff day..thanks.. Keep em comin & I'll keep watchin.. my hats off to you sir!..tight lines..👍
Within seconds I had the intuition which lake you were on. Then your description and some further views confirmed it for me. I used to fish there over 30 years ago and I often heard that there were LMB in the bays. I think we only caught one once. What a beautiful lake. Thanks for the memories.
Imo it's the most beautiful lake in MN! It's been about the same amount of time since I've been on it also. We caught very nice LM but I don't remember catching many smallies. If I ever win the lottery..... I'm building on it 😂
Care to share which lake (of the many in MN) this may be? I love this channel and bass fishing in general, but it would be nice every now and then if we knew where he was at. It is gorgeous.
Sadly that’s a sure fire way to get a lake overfished. I’ve seen it happen locally. Went from good to horrible in about a month. Still recovering ten years later with fish a pound less on average.
Best fishing channel on RUclips... HANDS DOWN. IM dealing with some health issues and in and out of the hospital.t's nice to sit back, relax, watch some awesome fishing, and it keeps my mind off of things for 20 minutes at a time. THANK YOU
What an absolutely GORGEOUS lake! Love to see you get after those trout, they would be a great early spring/ice-out fish when they’re still shallow, they’ll cruise along the edges of shelf ice looking for insects and forage- go get ‘em!
Yup I'm hitting the lake this afternoon, our rivers have been flowing to heavy for at least a month now. Awesome lake there!! Smallmouth and largemouth, don't see thst often. Great video👍
Matt, thank you so much for taking us along on a wonderful, scenic and peaceful lake for some top water excitement, that produced some really nice smallies and largemouth!!! Take care and be safe, anxiously awaiting your next video!
I don't think I would enjoy the winters up there, but the fishing up your way is some of the best. Lots of lakes and rivers and they seem to all be full of fish. THAT I'm envious of.
Sweet bass brother! Even caught some bonus largies. Really like seeing the top water catches gets me every time. Thanks as well for posting, the view at the places you fish is awesome! 👍🎣🌳🌊
Recent subscriber to the channel, and newly interested in yak fishing. Your videos are excellent. As many have said, keep doing what you are doing. These are enjoyable / calm / natural vids that appeal to what many got into fishing in the first place for.
Thanks for taking me along! The large mouth were a surprise bonus! All of the bass were healthy looking 👀. Another great day of fishing. You are the best!
Just came back from a bag, and my PB from my kayak. Thanks Matt for making this seem easy! I just went out with no expectation and some relaxation, dropped a worm to a couple small males and she was hungry! Wow so fun!!!!
After eons of Eagles and Ospreys eating fish in clear water with mid day sunshine lighting them up, the fish have instinctually learned to stay deep. They hit top water in the early morning and late evening when they are not as vulnerable. The whacky worm or drop shot is the way to go in the bright middle of the day. Matt is always teaching me something I might have known, but it isn't in the front of my mind when I hit the water. Thanks again to the master fisherman.
The hits came as you paralleled the shore with long casts-when you went deep and threw at the shore the hits stopped. Later on, you started doing the same thing-that's when the hits began again. The most active fish were shallow, chasing/looking for baitfish, and paying less attention to you [jmo]. Great video. God bless. [edit]: What a beautiful lake-I hope you go back again e.g., fall monster bass and/or ice fishing walleyes/trout.
I think it might be 3 summers since I asked you about trout fishing, and you said that you would consider it the following summer. I still live in hope that some fine day you will give it a go. It's not that hard a fish to catch unless you go for artificial flies. My best day as a 14 year old was 36 trout and 4 Chub on wholemeal bread, using a size 6, 7 or 8 hook.
What a beautiful lake! And those marvellous fights in that clear water, too! Awesome…I was puzzled when at first you didn’t mention largemouth among the species in that water. It seemed somewhat odd to me…but there they were! Also It would have been great to see some beautiful walleye or trout (American lake trout of the char family?) caught in that gorgeous scenery. Over here in Europe zander ( very similar to walleye) also prefer low light conditions. Also zander is a delicious fish. Encouraged by your videos I have purchased all the famous lures that you use, especially those by Savage Gear and this snake will be no exception. I can’t wait to get one! Its action is wonderful.
Finally, a couple of fish classified as "Tanks." Very few of them this year. Got to tease you a little as your videos are so much fun and make me home sick for Minnesota.
What are those birds I hear on the lake......sounds so peaceful. The snake made the diff in this one no doubt. I didnt even know snakes were on the menu in MN lol.............nice job👍
Usually it’s time to grab the wacky worm and pick off the rest of the school but once they saw me in that clear water they knew what I was trying to do.
Hey buddy, new to fishing from this summer. I've discovered you a few weeks back. I like how calm voice is. You go into details. Really enjoying your videos. Thanks brother, keep e'm coming!
Watching this assures me,..... I should have bought one last year!!!! These snake baits are definitely worth the money!!! Fixing to order one right now
Always a pleasure , you are my inspiration on my river for topwater. I love it . I hooked six yesterday from one spot about twenty yards long , then nothing all day. Rebel popn minnow
Thanks for the validation on the fish knowing what you're up to lol. I tell some of my non fishing buddies that and they look at me crooked like "it's just a dumb fish"....yea...they want you to THINK that! lol Good vid, I'll take them Largies all day too! Tight lines bud!
Do you use a widegap hook with your wacky rig because its just easier to unhook or do you think you get the best hookup ratio and do you think you ever miss bites because a fish sees the hook? I just use a size 1 octopus hook and it can be annoying trying to get it out of a big fishes mouth. Seems like its a lot easier to remove a larger hook but idk if they will see the bigger hook and not bite.
Man, I wish lakes in my area were that clear! Probably the only one that is so clear only hold big 'ol carps and the only lake that has bass is quite restricted. Great video as always!
Hey, my sons and I love your channel. We have 2 questions for you.... 1) Have you ever tried out any kind of inflatable kayak? If so, your thoughts? 2) On average how far away are most of the lakes and rivers you film at?
If you always have a few sizes of silver Mepps spinners, marabou jigs and some trout magnets with you, you are always prepared for a bit of trout fishing 😉
I watch your videos from New Zealand - we don’t have any bass sadly but we do have some trout across both islands. I didn’t previously know much about bass, although through watching your videos I have learned a lot. I do though know something about trout and catch a few here. Tight lines and keep making those videos - it is winter here in New Zealand so good to see your hot days.

Get yourself a good selection of rooster tails, mepps and panther martin spinners and you will be in a good position to catch trout. Trout fishing is a lot of fun and they will give you a good fight especially on lighter gear. They like a lot of the same locations small inhabit, but not at the same time ha ha. Typically they are found in open clear water. There are many species of trout and you fish them each a little differently. That looks like lake trout country, so open water is your best bet.

I was surprised I had that action right away around 1:30-2 when I caught those first few fish but I think I was hitting the tail end of a lunar peak. Aside from that when the sun is low in the sky is always the best time to be tossing topwater! Mid summer on a big deep clear lake like this I’d probably be better off fishing deeper off the points but when I get that action right at the start I’m usually convinced any cast I’ll get another blow up on topwater. I should have stayed the extra 45 min until dark but I was already going on a 19 hour day with a couple hour drive ahead of me still. I’m just glad I got on some action at this last lake or the drive home would have seemed twice as long!
Im a bass fisherman at heart but lately ive been going for some trout by wading local streams, its a great change of pace in terms of freshwater fishing and its a great time. Any excuse to fish is a good one lol
I’ve been watching your channel for a long time, every time I see one of your videos I put down everything. Keep doing what you do!
Easily the best fishing channel out there.
Hopefully you're not a surgeon!
Amen
Check out fisherMN. Another great fishing channel with quality content. Prob has like 300 vids. Give him a sub if you like it.

St Croix needs to sponsor you as well. I bought their rods because you use them and they are a bang for the buck. Just well crafted and all business.
Wow this lake is beautiful. Crystal clear water and awesome bass

I've been watching your videos for some time now and absolutely love the content. You have such a mellow vibe, kinda the "Bob Ross" of fishing.
My thoughts exactly!
The Bob Ross comparison has gotten old.
I don't think I would enjoy the winters up there, but the fishing up your way is some of the best. Lots of lakes and rivers and they seem to all be full of fish. THAT I'm envious of.
Agreed. I'm a Florida man. I equate his winters to climbing near the top of Mount Everest.
Right man, all the lakes/ponds by me are so high pressured its so hard to catch big boys. Id love to go to ND and fish
Yup winters suck here. Can be brutal. But we're blessed with so many waterways full of fish!!
Great content as always! I love how there is no sponsorships, ads, nonsense, etc. it’s what makes your videos so special.
The fishing, as always, is top notch. But the boat wake footage was so fun! It was like I was in the kayak! Great job!
Nice lake! Enjoyed hearing the Loons in the background. 👍
Loading up the trailer this morning to head out fishing. Looks like a decent day for some middle MN lakes.
That lure has some great action! No wonder the bass can't leave it alone. Thanks for the video! I always enjoy watching!
What a great way to start my Sunday morning. Another awesome video!
Sweet bass brother! Even caught some bonus largies. Really like seeing the top water catches gets me every time. Thanks as well for posting, the view at the places you fish is awesome! 👍🎣🌳🌊
Beautiful lake. First video where I actually saw another boat on the water!
Best Fisherman I've seen on RUclips. I always enjoy watching your videos Thanks

Matt is one of the reasons I started fishing again.
Matt, I would love nothing more than to see you do a trout video! Fingers crossed!
Same!! I'd love to see that
Savage Gear needs to sponsor this man. Every time he posts a 3D Snake lure video I end up buying another one 😆
I want one but they are always out of stock on bass pro, at least in the colors I want lol
I love seein all these nice smallies! Another great vid of catchin em! Minnesota sure is a beautiful state with some amazing fisheries!
Wish we had more lakes like that around here. We used to have a few, but they've become race tracks for jet skis and high horsepower speed boats.
Always blown away at the beauty of these fisheries you have access to. Sheesh.

What are those birds I hear on the lake......sounds so peaceful. The snake made the diff in this one no doubt. I didnt even know snakes were on the menu in MN lol.............nice job👍
There’s some loons at some points during the video
Love the action of that snake lure! It's no wonder why the bass just hammered that thing.
Loved seeing the super clear water & hear the loons in the background while you caught some fish...
Good times Up North!
I loved hearing the loons - brings back wonderful memories.
The first catch brought the whole school with him! I love it when that happens!
Usually it’s time to grab the wacky worm and pick off the rest of the school but once they saw me in that clear water they knew what I was trying to do.
@@ndyakangler that same thing happens to me on Lake St Clair frequently too
I've got the black 8" snake. It is an insane lure. I like that it has two line ties. One allows the snake to dive a bit.
What a beautiful place to fish. Love that snake lure. That first small mouth hit it hard. Damn. That second largemouth wow.
Trout love the Mepps inline spinners, flies, small spoons, Little Cleos, they're also good to catch on minnows and corn and nightcrawlers and corn.
what lake is this? water is nice and clear

thanks for calming me down after work ... what a gorgeous lake to fish in.
I’ve said it before imo it’s the best channel on RUclips. Thanks for the takin us along
Awesome. Thanks for sharing this with us. First time I saw a motorized boat on your channel.
We have water ways and lakes in the south but nothing like this. I’m amazed at the water clarity and the quality of northern fisheries.
So fun to watch, well done. Top water is always a blast and wow … a snake!
Hey buddy, new to fishing from this summer. I've discovered you a few weeks back. I like how calm voice is. You go into details. Really enjoying your videos. Thanks brother, keep e'm coming!
Beautiful lake and beautiful fish!
What an awesome lake! Been a while since I've seen a piece of water like that, or heard a Loon. Thanx for sharing!!
It's really cool seeing you fish In my area makes me want to try all of those lakes out.
What area are you in? I’m in Duluth
Watching this assures me,..... I should have bought one last year!!!! These snake baits are definitely worth the money!!! Fixing to order one right now
That was nice fish you caught. Perfect lake for the Hobie.
Yeah the Hobie would have been great here but I fished a couple other lakes earlier in the day where I needed the Tarpon.
Always a pleasure , you are my inspiration on my river for topwater. I love it . I hooked six yesterday from one spot about twenty yards long , then nothing all day. Rebel popn minnow
i like how you explained what lure and why you chose it because it seems like you always know exactly what to throw and I wonder how
Go out on my own great fishing session, and come home to a new NDYak video. Life is good 😊

Great way to start the morning!
Absolutely beautiful venue would be great if you can go there more often and share, much appreciated and thanks again.
I’ll be going back in September! I think the spook would work well out there that time of year when the topwater bite is in its prime.
You should talk like Cobra Commander when you fish with that lure.
I just made a snake lure recently and it is really cool to see that bass actually eat them. Thanks for the great vid Matt!
That lake looks sick
Do you use a widegap hook with your wacky rig because its just easier to unhook or do you think you get the best hookup ratio and do you think you ever miss bites because a fish sees the hook? I just use a size 1 octopus hook and it can be annoying trying to get it out of a big fishes mouth. Seems like its a lot easier to remove a larger hook but idk if they will see the bigger hook and not bite.
I’ve always had a great hookup ratio with those hooks so I haven’t seen any reason to change.
Hey Matt, I live in Colorado and mainly target bass but have done really well with trout trolling with a spoon from my kayak.
Loved hearing the Loons followed by Crows. Awesome Video as always good Sir!
That’s a fun lure to fish. Love that topwater action!
BABE!! WAKE UP!! YAKANGLER DROPPED A NEW VIDEO
