- Controversial internet personality Hassan Campbell recently shared his experience of a shooting incident in The Bronx. He revealed that he had been in a deeply depressed and suicidal state, partly triggered by reflecting on past traumas. While venting his frustrations in Bronx River Projects, tensions escalated with local individuals and resulted in Campbell being shot and rushed to the hospital. He described the shooters as wearing masks and shared that as many as four shots could have been fired, with one hitting his shoulder and lodging in his back. I realized that he is trying to make this about the BLK community and I am lost on why he feels it’s the community responsibility to help him heal or to provide justice for him. I side-eye Hassan most of the time except when he discusses his trauma. So many people make comments about him when they are absolutely ignorant of child sex abuse and it’s various impacts on the victim, young and old.
Hassan is walking trauma. But he’s resilient in his own way. He needs a very skilled Therapist to help him heal from his traumas as a child and adult. Growing up in Bronx River alone is traumatizing.
