A Sol is great when you get the jump on the enemy. The issue is being enough of a threat that the enemy runs away after getting the jump and not immediately dying to their hyper caries.

I feel like Asol could be better if he was a tank mage. Because his gameplay feels similar to Singed imo and Singed benefits from being tanky. Asol needs to be close constantly to deal damage but he's so squishy to deal enough damage. ESPECIALLY since most enemies either just outranges him OR can get close to him so fast that he cant make use of his orbiting stars.
the fact that A.Sol needs to ramp up his Q to stun longer while anivia can just throw it at ur face and has the same duration everytime. that 0.5 sec stun or idk if its more than that will just be countered by tenacity boots..
If ASol gets buffed to the point people actually start using him he will be thrown under the bus like Anivia. Anivia used to be on the same level as Asos: 1. Hard to play 2. Weak early game 3. Needs to scale and thus needs team support 4. Very squishy even when building HP Anivia gets buffed and, despite being hard to play, people now play her and before she got nerfed again people hated her. People will complain about ASol being weak, and pity the mains of him like they did for Anivia, but the second he gets buffed and people actually play him they will be like "god I hate ASol wish they'd just nerf him"
ASol's Q is actually very strong, the range is crazy and it can zone enemies well. That's why he's a great ganking midlaner. Meanwhile Anivia's Q has hitbox issues, sometimes it looks like it's gonna hit but nothing happens. I'd say ASol's Q wins.
I think it's great that when I got a 54% winrate in silver, I all of a sudden went on a massive losing streak from my top and JG feeding the hell out of my games until I went back to a 48% win rate. Then all of a sudden I started winning all my games again. It's really weird how that works.
game is so obviously rigged. You can’t even view damage numbers in the replays. How is it statistically possible to go on 10+ game losing/winning streaks in a team game?
While not been proven about league, there were some devs from EA, who said they couldn't say on what game they worked on, but it was a online team shooter, which is most likely Apex, in which the matchmaking was rigged. They said that they had analysts analyzing players behaviour and tried to find out in which combination of wins and losses the player would stay hooked longest to the game. It turns out that straight up winning every game has the same effect as always loosing that being you get bored of the game and stop playing. What the devs then basically did is influencing the matchmaking, first you play against people on your level which is a 50/50 chance, then against people much weaker than you which turns the match into your favor, then you play against people much better than you and turns it against it you. This way it always seems like you're improving until you look at your stats. Yes that means if you try your hardest it doesn't matter since atleast in this EA game you're getting matched with people who you aren't abel to beat. The same devs also said that this method is used in alot of competetive games to keep the playerbase up.

As a Mastery 7 A. Sol main, I can confirm that no one should main him. Btw, got mastery 7 by running glacial augment and basically being a glorified secondary support
@Entropy seeing how as support that allowed me to help out my team because I knew i could roam with him easy regardless and had the most kills on my team. But to each their own.
What i do to not get as tilted is just ignore the win or defeat screen and only consider how i played to see whether i won or lost cause if my team feeds i can just say that they lost and if i did very well i "won" plus its good to focus more on ur personal performance. But i also think that its only winning when it requires skill but thats more logic to deny when i lose a match. After all u should be trying to have fun, if wining isnt as fun maybe another game has what u need

There's basically one reason why A.Sol gets nerfed. Back when he came out some people started one tricking him and ended up becoming some of the highest rated players in the game because: A. his numbers were rather inflated to compensate for his weirdo kit. B. He's such a weird champ and no one knows how to fight against him. C. Everyone who plays him gets *very* good at him. All of that ended with a whole lot of high level players getting sauced on by A.Sols. They could not fucking handle playing against the dragon and complained about it. I believe even Dopa complained about it, calling them all carried by a broken champ. Of course, it's hard to say if this was actually the case or if they were just salty that they got worked by someone they don't even know how to play against. Point being- they bitched and Riot listened. Riot seems rather scared of him becoming some secret elo inflating god and challenger players complaining about him, so they stamp him down every so often. They're almost certainly aware of the meme of A.Sol nerfs, but don't want those high-level players getting pissy again.
Tbf when Dopa complained about him he was oppressive. The W toggle meant that noone could contest your push and that you had unlimited damage without cooldowns. Once you hit lvl 3 you could base and effectively TP back to lane with full mana thanks to his E movementspeed and pressure other lanes by just standing in fog of war. You were a TF at lvl 3 with a 1 minute cd on your ult. I also cant imagine that, presuming a good Asol at that time had a lot of counterplay, high elo players struggled to figure out any exploitable weaknesses. Player count in high elo is ridicliously low so you can play with or against the same players multiple times a day, meaning that you happen to play against Asol OTPs on the regular and thus gain the needed experience to find out any weaknesses.
8:21 I swear, it isn't just me then, getting the canons with A Sol is strangely difficult, every other champs are just fine, but Aurelion just can't. Also it feels like the dmg on the autos are dealt a split second after the impact, making it even weirder to farm.
I do hope Asol gets an unbound form since he is being teased in the lore to have near freedom from the crown and 'The Call' cinematic almost teasing his ult agaibst pantheon

I have been playing asol for last 2 years and consistently carrying games all that time. He is really hard to get into, but once it clicked for me i loved him. One of my favourite champions to play, dont know what all those people are on about
What we are on about is how he has been nerfed a million times and is incredibly scary to pick up for new players. He literally has no quality of life and the only way to play him properly is to put all of your energy into him.

@@callum3983 seriously tho. Only mains play aurelion sol. Him having a high winrate is cause of those mains. If you want to use winrates as an argument you gotta factor in pick and banrate too. The elo also matters somewhat. Some champion's kits perform better in low elo, and some better in high elo.
@@keinkanal7382 This isn't really accurate though. he has a lower champion depth (average games per player) than a good number of champs (e.g. Zyra and Yorick) and also has 8k games in plat+ this patch. If you struggle to play him, that's fine, but he's not a weak champ.
I don't get why Riot had to change A-Sol in the game to the point he's barely picked. He's one of the last really cool champions who had an actually healthy kit and good balance and some Rioter decided to nerf him because his 12 year old Yasuo main kid cried from losing against one. On blind pick too. Not even a ranked game.

Aurelion Sol, a healthy kit? Allow me to disagree, there's a reason he continuously gets nerfed to a meme point. His kit is so godtier at roaming and winning a game off of that it's just way too powerful for other champions to compete against unless he gets fucking buried beneath 4m of concrete. That's the sad truth about Asol, his kit looks really cool, but in reality it's so abusable by a small portion of the player base that he isn't allowed to exist in a "normal" way.

And by the end result of this day? Yeah, they need to be fired because a 0.9 pick rate champion is not a success at all. His kit is strong sure but also he's not overloaded. There are so many ways they could have balanced that dragon but nah, 200 years.

Either your kit is way too good and you cant have good numbers to compensate (like Azir or Ryze in pro) or you are so limited by your kit that you need good numbers to stay relevant (effectively every old statchecker like Udyr).
Winning in the losers queue is nearly impossible but it's possible and it's like defying god. And winning that is the most satisfying middle finger to riot.

Sol main:save e for obj. spam ping when you e so team knows. Tell them to try to kite onto ping n to wait for your eng on obj. use w for speed boost q also speed boosts. use 20 min base haste to build big bomb.spam w to keep bomb alive then e at first tower. when coming out of e your w spins faster so it deals more dam. Ghost is great just discovered. build paths of either tanky/tank killer and zone obj and bait or squish boi big ult burst star bomb deeps. Could go into potion use early lane aggro to be able to roam etc.. but this is long enough. If you like kiting as an adc you may like him. Can play bot/supp or top with different playstyles. Been playing bot roaming twitch supp is fun. Vex is also dirty combo

One trick with asol is to let your q gain some distance ahead of you before you press e, that way you can stun people from farther away on entry and you put yourself at less risk
Riftmaker, ravenous hydra and manamune. His stars get massive on hit damage and it even allows him to deal damage with auto attacks while stars are ripping assholes open
Around 5:40 I always feel kind of called out when people tak about this stuff, since I geniuenly changed the order of my summoners after a few years. Mostly because I realised that I hit the D key with the S key to stop my champion too much, and that would result in me flashing in instead of stopping. I still fat finger the F key sometimes but at least I don't flash in instead of stopping my character anymore.
Here is my tip for you: Build crown. I once played against an A Sol as Zed and got 4 kills on him. If I went in on him he didn't stand a chance. And then he bought a crown and he instantly e on all the all ins. He then proceeded to start roaming bot and so we had a fed A Sol to deal with.
I'd like if there was third mode for his stars - to hide in bushes. Like, retract fully doesn't work, because while it would be retracting, it would deal 'competitive' damage in small area, and we can't have that. Maybe they could have the option of disappearing for a while. Because all charge ults and abilities with massive telegraphs can be hid in bushes. But ASol is the only champ who can't. (correct?)
The first game shows the classic rule of League and single biggest thing you can do to increase your ranked win rate ... never queue with friends. #1. Increases the chance you get the smurf on your team. #2. Decreases the chance you get the boosting duo on the other team. (Skooch was unlucky here, but they probably consider Asol a duo Q b/c of his sheer power.)

I never got to know the old a-sol but as a M7 player I think the worst part is not being able to hide in bushes, so many tactical plays wasted because funny stars go brrrr.

Back when I was new to League, I planned to main Asol because he likes space and stars as Veigar. I did not do it because I knew things would go wrong.
As someone who actually knows how to play him... this was painful to watch, lol. Of course I wish he wasn't nerfed into the ground, but 99% of the problem here is just Skooch having no idea that you can't play him like any other champ in the game. The second game was much better with the "don't lane" tip, but he didn't really understand what that means beyond "don't be mid" lol. When you take time to learn more, ASol can manipulate every other lane on the map and even beat some assassin matchups reliably. Play him. He's worth it.
@@xvii5766 Weak and difficult, yes, but impactful and worth the effort, imo. It's never his job to 1v1 enemies anyhow, so counter picks aren't hard to handle.
Finally some comment not shitting on asol. He as a lot of potential and pressure on the map, even to the point of wining 1v2 ganks by one-shoting jungler if he gets his items. I have been consistently dealing the most damage out of my team playing him, you just need to be smart about how you play him
@@KingAm0 the thing is you don't need anything if you're playing Twisted Fate other than safe laning you can just buy Everfrost and RapidFire Canon then point and click stun an important target later in the game. While A Sol consistently needs to shove and roam. And it is also true that he has one of the best early minion clear at early game but you can just use it 4 times because of mana problems. He also gets outranged by almost everybody and almost every midlane champion counters him. He's so squishy that even a 3/10 Zed can easily kill him even if he has steelcaps.
I like how the swapped summoner spells is a sign to skooch, but i actually just swap summoner spells depending on lane :D If i go tp i go flash on d and tp on f, but almost in every other instance i go flash on f
Mostly play Aram, but will pick up asol everytime, snowball flash r, into q, and then melt them with w, haven't had a proper penta yet but got a lot of aces.
Its actually really scary to get close to him if theres an aurelion sol player who knows what they're doing. My friend is one of 8 aurelion sol mains and he just wrecks whoever comes to mid. Zed included.
I wish they'd buff his rotating stars to circulate a tad bit faster and or make it revolve closer to his body since melee champions can just easily kill him if they get close enough.

you do know that 0.5 seconds is mininum stun time? even tenacity wont make stuns under 0.5 sec

ASol's Q is actually very strong, the range is crazy and it can zone enemies well. That's why he's a great ganking midlaner. Meanwhile Anivia's Q has hitbox issues, sometimes it looks like it's gonna hit but nothing happens. I'd say ASol's Q wins.

I think it's great that when I got a 54% winrate in silver, I all of a sudden went on a massive losing streak from my top and JG feeding the hell out of my games until I went back to a 48% win rate. Then all of a sudden I started winning all my games again.

game is so obviously rigged. You can’t even view damage numbers in the replays. How is it statistically possible to go on 10+ game losing/winning streaks in a team game?
While not been proven about league, there were some devs from EA, who said they couldn't say on what game they worked on, but it was a online team shooter, which is most likely Apex, in which the matchmaking was rigged. They said that they had analysts analyzing players behaviour and tried to find out in which combination of wins and losses the player would stay hooked longest to the game. It turns out that straight up winning every game has the same effect as always loosing that being you get bored of the game and stop playing. What the devs then basically did is influencing the matchmaking, first you play against people on your level which is a 50/50 chance, then against people much weaker than you which turns the match into your favor, then you play against people much better than you and turns it against it you. This way it always seems like you're improving until you look at your stats.
Yes that means if you try your hardest it doesn't matter since atleast in this EA game you're getting matched with people who you aren't abel to beat. The same devs also said that this method is used in alot of competetive games to keep the playerbase up.

What i do to not get as tilted is just ignore the win or defeat screen and only consider how i played to see whether i won or lost cause if my team feeds i can just say that they lost and if i did very well i "won" plus its good to focus more on ur personal performance.
But i also think that its only winning when it requires skill but thats more logic to deny when i lose a match.

There's basically one reason why A.Sol gets nerfed. Back when he came out some people started one tricking him and ended up becoming some of the highest rated players in the game because:
A. his numbers were rather inflated to compensate for his weirdo kit.
B. He's such a weird champ and no one knows how to fight against him.
C. Everyone who plays him gets *very* good at him.
All of that ended with a whole lot of high level players getting sauced on by A.Sols. They could not fucking handle playing against the dragon and complained about it. I believe even Dopa complained about it, calling them all carried by a broken champ. Of course, it's hard to say if this was actually the case or if they were just salty that they got worked by someone they don't even know how to play against.
Point being- they bitched and Riot listened. Riot seems rather scared of him becoming some secret elo inflating god and challenger players complaining about him, so they stamp him down every so often. They're almost certainly aware of the meme of A.Sol nerfs, but don't want those high-level players getting pissy again.
Tbf when Dopa complained about him he was oppressive. The W toggle meant that noone could contest your push and that you had unlimited damage without cooldowns. Once you hit lvl 3 you could base and effectively TP back to lane with full mana thanks to his E movementspeed and pressure other lanes by just standing in fog of war. You were a TF at lvl 3 with a 1 minute cd on your ult.
I also cant imagine that, presuming a good Asol at that time had a lot of counterplay, high elo players struggled to figure out any exploitable weaknesses. Player count in high elo is ridicliously low so you can play with or against the same players multiple times a day, meaning that you happen to play against Asol OTPs on the regular and thus gain the needed experience to find out any weaknesses.
8:21 I swear, it isn't just me then, getting the canons with A Sol is strangely difficult, every other champs are just fine, but Aurelion just can't. Also it feels like the dmg on the autos are dealt a split second after the impact, making it even weirder to farm.
I do hope Asol gets an unbound form since he is being teased in the lore to have near freedom from the crown and 'The Call' cinematic almost teasing his ult agaibst pantheon

I have been playing asol for last 2 years and consistently carrying games all that time. He is really hard to get into, but once it clicked for me i loved him.

What we are on about is how he has been nerfed a million times and is incredibly scary to pick up for new players. He literally has no quality of life and the only way to play him properly is to put all of your energy into him.

The elo also matters somewhat. Some champion's kits perform better in low elo, and some better in high elo.

he has a lower champion depth (average games per player) than a good number of champs (e.g. Zyra and Yorick) and also has 8k games in plat+ this patch.
If you struggle to play him, that's fine, but he's not a weak champ.

He's one of the last really cool champions who had an actually healthy kit and good balance and some Rioter decided to nerf him because his 12 year old Yasuo main kid cried from losing against one. On blind pick too. Not even a ranked game.

Aurelion Sol, a healthy kit? Allow me to disagree, there's a reason he continuously gets nerfed to a meme point. His kit is so godtier at roaming and winning a game off of that it's just way too powerful for other champions to compete against unless he gets fucking buried beneath 4m of concrete.
That's the sad truth about Asol, his kit looks really cool, but in reality it's so abusable by a small portion of the player base that he isn't allowed to exist in a "normal" way.

And by the end result of this day? Yeah, they need to be fired because a 0.9 pick rate champion is not a success at all.
His kit is strong sure but also he's not overloaded. There are so many ways they could have balanced that dragon but nah, 200 years.

Either your kit is way too good and you cant have good numbers to compensate (like Azir or Ryze in pro) or you are so limited by your kit that you need good numbers to stay relevant (effectively every old statchecker like Udyr).

Tell them to try to kite onto ping n to wait for your eng on obj. use w for speed boost q also speed boosts. use 20 min base haste to build big bomb.spam w to keep bomb alive then e at first tower. when coming out of e your w spins faster so it deals more dam. Ghost is great just discovered. build paths of either tanky/tank killer and zone obj and bait or squish boi big ult burst star bomb deeps. Could go into potion use early lane aggro to be able to roam etc.. but this is long enough. If you like kiting as an adc you may like him. Can play bot/supp or top with different playstyles. Been playing bot roaming twitch supp is fun. Vex is also dirty combo

One trick with asol is to let your q gain some distance ahead of you before you press e, that way you can stun people from farther away on entry and you put yourself at less risk
Riftmaker, ravenous hydra and manamune. His stars get massive on hit damage and it even allows him to deal damage with auto attacks while stars are ripping assholes open

Around 5:40 I always feel kind of called out when people tak about this stuff, since I geniuenly changed the order of my summoners after a few years.
Mostly because I realised that I hit the D key with the S key to stop my champion too much, and that would result in me flashing in instead of stopping. I still fat finger the F key sometimes but at least I don't flash in instead of stopping my character anymore.
This is why I like apex ranked so much,!even if I don’t win if I did good I can still get points to rank up

Here is my tip for you: Build crown. I once played against an A Sol as Zed and got 4 kills on him. If I went in on him he didn't stand a chance. And then he bought a crown and he instantly e on all the all ins. He then proceeded to start roaming bot and so we had a fed A Sol to deal with.
I'd like if there was third mode for his stars - to hide in bushes.
Like, retract fully doesn't work, because while it would be retracting, it would deal 'competitive' damage in small area, and we can't have that. Maybe they could have the option of disappearing for a while.
Because all charge ults and abilities with massive telegraphs can be hid in bushes. But ASol is the only champ who can't. (correct?)

The first game shows the classic rule of League and single biggest thing you can do to increase your ranked win rate ... never queue with friends. #1. Increases the chance you get the smurf on your team. #2. Decreases the chance you get the boosting duo on the other team. (Skooch was unlucky here, but they probably consider Asol a duo Q b/c of his sheer power.)

Back when I was new to League, I planned to main Asol because he likes space and stars as Veigar. I did not do it because I knew things would go wrong.
As someone who actually knows how to play him... this was painful to watch, lol. Of course I wish he wasn't nerfed into the ground, but 99% of the problem here is just Skooch having no idea that you can't play him like any other champ in the game. The second game was much better with the "don't lane" tip, but he didn't really understand what that means beyond "don't be mid" lol. When you take time to learn more, ASol can manipulate every other lane on the map and even beat some assassin matchups reliably.
Play him. He's worth it.

@@xvii5766 Weak and difficult, yes, but impactful and worth the effort, imo. It's never his job to 1v1 enemies anyhow, so counter picks aren't hard to handle.
Finally some comment not shitting on asol. He as a lot of potential and pressure on the map, even to the point of wining 1v2 ganks by one-shoting jungler if he gets his items. I have been consistently dealing the most damage out of my team playing him, you just need to be smart about how you play him
It's pretty much just Twisted Fate if he required good micro right? ASol's a cool character, and I main TF, so it seems like an alright thing to try.
@@KingAm0 the thing is you don't need anything if you're playing Twisted Fate other than safe laning you can just buy Everfrost and RapidFire Canon then point and click stun an important target later in the game. While A Sol consistently needs to shove and roam. And it is also true that he has one of the best early minion clear at early game but you can just use it 4 times because of mana problems. He also gets outranged by almost everybody and almost every midlane champion counters him. He's so squishy that even a 3/10 Zed can easily kill him even if he has steelcaps.
I like how the swapped summoner spells is a sign to skooch, but i actually just swap summoner spells depending on lane :D

Its actually really scary to get close to him if theres an aurelion sol player who knows what they're doing. My friend is one of 8 aurelion sol mains and he just wrecks whoever comes to mid. Zed included.
I wish they'd buff his rotating stars to circulate a tad bit faster and or make it revolve closer to his body since melee champions can just easily kill him if they get close enough.
