I usually go to fiber festivals by myself. Then I can spend as much time ( and money) as I want. When I've gone with others, they want to leave, WAY to soon. You will know what I mean when you enjoy your first one. They are great!

such a pleasure to see you, your spot sweater is a dream! Love the little top you were wearing. I had to laugh when in your comment you said all your yarn leftovers would have to follow you to assisted living. My friends and I always said we would make a pact and send a uhaul truck with stash to the survivors, because our families wouldn't understand.

Hi, Karen. Your spot sweater turned out beautiful! I bet it will be very warm; great for a ski trip. I envy you ability to dive into yarn dying. Your colors are beautiful 😻. Happy Knitting!!!

You continue to be fearless in your knitting! Ghost Whisperer is gorgeous….long sleeve would also be gorgeous; Your Anne Ventzel sweater is exquisite!; fingerless mitts….I’ve been knitting them as gifts for the past two years. I’ve made the mitts with EXTRA LONG rib before binding off. Then, the recipient is able to keep them ‘long’ when needed and folded over when they need use of their fingers. Works beautifully with my granddaughter who doesn’t like to wear mittens. However, she’s much more compliant when she has access to her fingers. I think I started out with the Point Edward Mitts and adjusted from there.

I absolutely love yarn cakes and actually made crochet cozies to keep my yarn cakes neat while working from the centre. My husband made me a swift and I have to say that having the right tools for the job is definitely a must. Makes things so much more enjoyable. Your spot sweater looks amazing.

Love your sweater, the colorwork looks great! And wow, you did quite an amazing job with dying, I love the DK turqoise ones. About the knitting festival: just go by yourself and you'll be fine ;) I usually meet the most new people if I'm by myself.

I love a one skein shawl, for me it’s either a rectangle shlanket or a small tuck in my coat. If I could recommend a couple that I’ve made and are easy…Ardent shawl and Rosewater. I appreciate the quick frequent episodes…your enthusiasm is awesome and it’s a dose of medication 😂. I’m working on the no frills sweater (first one for me!) and loving it!! hopefully your kids will enjoy winding your yarn longer than mine did, it lasted for only a few times 😜

I’d held off for a good while on the swift and winder but bought one this week - life changed 😃 I don’t know why I was telling myself I didn’t need them but i sooooo did! I didn’t know you shouldn’t wind until your going to use the yarn? I loved winding the cakes for my vertices unite, so much easier ☺️ Love the spot sweater 👍

Wowzers on the Spot sweater! Well done. I'm just finishing the Oakhaven Tee and amazingly it is still summer! The cotton/hemp yarn is rather coarse. We'll see whether it will soften with washing. I was unwilling to spend money on a swift and ball winder so my husband/handy man tried various designs, interesting I'll say that but resorted to purchasing both last year.

Always lovely to see your videos pop into my feed!
Ribbing thoughts… I wonder if you knit ribbing at a much looser gauge than stockinette. On both of your finished sweaters the ribbing looks much looser than the body. I’ve learned for myself, to start any ribbing in the needle I’m knitting with for the first few rows then progressively go down in needle size so that it isn’t noticeable, usually I go through 3 different needles before I finish my ribbing. If you bind off tightly you can always use a bigger needle to bind off with or do a sewn bind off and go gently. This has changed the finished look of my garments immensely and ribbing never flips or looks odd compared to the rest of the garment. This also might be affecting the sweater WIP.
Thanks again for your videos, they are always such a delight!

I haven't been to a fiber festival either. We should experience it together. We might need a guide to help us navigate though. I get overwhelmed just walking into a local yarn shop. 😆

Dang it! My job got in the way the other day and we couldn’t meet up! You would know another knitter IRL!! 😂. About the yarn cakes twisting up, try pulling the yarn from the outside of the cake, rather than center pull. It won’t twist up if you pull from the outside. 👍🏻

Not sure what's going on with Stitches Midwest. I'm beginning to think it's not ever happening again 🙁. I went several times until it was covid cancelled. It seems there are so many fiber fests on the east and west coasts (including the Stitches ones), but none in the Chicago area. If you want to go to one around here, it's at least a 2-3 hour drive - to a different state. Bummer.

Your Spot sweater is great, love your color choice. I get inspired by you. I think of knitting, but I am in a stage where all is in my head cause I don’t have much time for it. I am trying to go for the Daily pullover, but I might switch it for a baby sweater to feel that I accomplish something 😊. Do you happen to know if there are any yarn festivals/events in this area? I am in suburb of Chicago, and I’m always envy of the folks in New York area and other places where most of the yarn events happen 😊. Lovely prodcast, I love your energy 👏

And forgot to mention that I could join you to SM, I live in Schaumburg, would be awesome to have this in person 😊. I will google if, now this might be the answer to yarn festivals I was looking for. I was in person maybe 4 years ago, by myself. I am sure it’s better with some company, I might have ended with music more yarn I guess😆

Hi - I’m not sure but there may be events downstate, but locally there’s the Wisconsin sheep & wool festival in September (near Milwaukee) and the Michigan fiber festival in August. There’s also the yarn crawl here in Chicago later this summer.

I am currently wearing my Solar-T by Laura Nelkin and I actually knit it from tynn line. I love the way the yarn feels worked up. I made the tee version of the pattern, but there's a tank if you'd like that better. The lace wasn't difficult and I really like the finished shirt. It's comfortable and I think the tynn line fit the pattern well.
I would love some zoom knitting. That weekend would be great. I am more open timewise than most though outside of work though.
I wish I could answer your stitches Midwest question. I remember really wanting to go to it before COVID because it was going to be pretty close, but we didn't because of logistics and kiddos. It's a lot with them and some mobility problems, I think it might be easy to get overwhelmed. I am keeping my fingers crossed for when they get a little bigger! Hope you have a great week, your dyed yarn looks beautiful!
