No, that isn't Erik's baby crying in the background of some parts of this breakdown, it's the creepy voice of Storm returning from our breakdown of Ep 1, lol
Okay
Bishop saving baby Nate secures his timeline.
Cable saving the X-men here changed his future’s timeline.
Gambits death in-between is now a Nexus point. Because his death is what pushed Rogue to trigging the human sentinel. Anyone else would have not dropped him off the building.
If they try to redo the event. Either magneto died and drives rogue, to doing the same thing. Or even worse Gambit don’t get to destroy the machine and it running completely loose.
21:23 he quoted Sri Krishna not Lord Shiva..... @NewRockstars
They are going to reset the Xmen 97 timeline so they can then have it merge with the live action MCU @NewRockstars
The power of friendship PROBABLY
The last scene with Bastion's monologue and shaving Magneto...
Thats how you write a villain to be actually scary.
Most disturbing shave since Freaky Fred.
Loved that scene! So chilling!
Nightcrawler's eulogy was so incredibly beautiful.
Everyline in nightcrawler's eulogy was like a punch to the face of my emotions.
Kurt knew how to hold em
Knew how to fold em😭😭😭
@@seewhativesceneEvery gambler knows.
I would have called them more like "a pun to the face".
Fr fr😢😢
When rogue lets out that devastating cry it just about brought me to tears. Hit hard
The Bastion sighting is gonna make the end of the year review 😅
Gambit saved Aurora and Northstar in Genosha the first time
Ooooooooo you're right!!!!!
What ep? No pressure.
@@tjk3430 first season when Gambit Jubes and Storm captured on Genosha… they liberated the mutants and Aurora and Northstar were on the island and helped fight.
@@alfonzogarganta1922 thanks!
@@alfonzogarganta1922 Captured Hearts. Great episode
You see that rider kick rogue did. That shit straight out of marvel vs capcom and X-men vs street fighter
As a Pittsburgh native, I started tearing up hearing beast quote Mr. Rodgers, I totally called I out before he finished
Pennsylvania’s favorite son.
💯
Captain America: “Mr. ‘Who’?” 🇺🇸
When i realized what he was saying i sobbed :(
Yeahhhhh sure buddy
I may be bias because I loved X-men as a kid but this series is perfect. brings me so much joy.
Don't worry, it's objectively rated as top tier alongside Batman animated from that era
Nightcrawler’s eulogy mentioning potential is a callback to the description of Gambit’s mutant ability to turn an object’s potential energy into explosive kinetic energy, which makes no sense from a physic’s standpoint but sounds sciencey and cool.
Rest in peace to gambit, Madalyn and leech, but how the hell did magneto survive that??
Madalyn not dead. Phoenix force. 🦅
Exactly. We lost badass gambit and somehow magneto alive. It’s a joke.
Gambit will be back i hope
they clearly had to keep magneto alive for the bastions plot
Plot Armor
Mystique was helping Magneto from the inside at the UN as Val. Why in the 7 hells would Mystique help kill 800,000 mutants?
Val could be a Prime Sentinel, not Mystique.
It's all gonna be okay, folks. We got time travel.
But seeing Rogue fall apart like that broke me.
Don't you fret suga, death comes for us all- and he'll come back to Rogue on a pale horse
Bastion giving Magneto that "The Color Purple" treatment with that razor like how Whoopi Goldberg did Danny Glover. So many Easter eggs in this episode!
The fact you Caught Baston is insane
The most hilarious part of this entirely depressing episode:
Scott: “Jean! You get the building! I got the debris”
Jean: proceeds to do it all and be a badass
That's Singer, not Aurora. She's a Thieves Guild member from the Rogue and Gambit comic book miniseries
Dem teeeeevin guild members didn't pay their tiiiiithes, IDGAF about their external existential crisis
I think the butterflies are likely another symbolic tie in to the possible use of time travel and alternate realities, using the metaphor of the "butterfly effect" and the flapping of a butterfly's wings to signify a small change in the past to cause a large ripple effect into the future.
I had teary eyes at multiple points this episode, but when Rogue WAILED in Nightcrawler's arms it was full on weeping.
IT WAS BASTION ALL ALONG !!!!
I understood that reference
Wanda Vision lol
pls stop referencing bad shows
Who??? Bring me apocalypse, not some c tier villain from the obscure comic
@@SWOTHDRA you know they doing operation zero tolerance, right? why you want apocalypse, when the arc is about killing mutants, zero tolerance for mutants lives!?
the episode is called bright eyes because that is what rogue called cable in season 2 episode 8 of the original series
Ahh the real cable
Specifically
“Remember me bright eyes 👊”
😂😂
Look up the phrase double entendre
I hope that the Cap/Rogue beef is hinting towards Xmen vs Avengers.
Hope not, why adapt that awful story where both sides were written as incompetent hypocrites?
@@uncannydcmarvelous5732 because the concept is cool and the execution can be redone to be actually good for the characters. I’d love to see their take on it
With them bringing in multiple X-Factor members and bringing back Cable hopefully means we are getting a X-Factor and X-Force series. They were a big part of the 90s comics that they are pulling from as well.
11:35 Later today, DeMayo tweeted that episodes 3 and 6 doesn't have a cameo, but the purple explosion of the globe can works perfectly as a omen of Bastion's actions about the upcoming world conflict that Genosha genocide probably will trigger
I wouldn’t be surprised if magneto does return as a villain after all the suffering from the holocaust as well as his torture at the hand of bastion and “losing” Charles. I heavily don’t doubt it
Here comes Onslaught...
That final scene caught me so off guard, as well of the scene where Rouge nearly killed trask
Me too
Nearly?
I bet no one is really thinking that Maximilian Dood is in the episode, but it's really Bobby, Gambit's brother.
Let’s go
@@munchlacks2900 Don't you mean let's f...king go? That's mainly what Max's says. But that's what Deadpool & Wolverine are saying in the newest trailer.
Shine on!
I thought it was him lol
@@JonathanGruber-uh4fd yeah, it's what he mostly says but his intro is just "Let's Go!"
When Scott is talking about dreams he’s referring to Xavier’s dream of humans and mutants living together peacefully
Gambit has been my all time favorite mutant since I started following X-men as a whole. Sad to see him die hits hard
I loved this episode! It was so packed and the team was back together!
I love it
Rogue’s “anime kick” is actually a copy of Panthro’s kick from the Thundercats intro.
Thank you!!!
This episode was just back to back crazy i love it.
Loved that Mr Rogers quote
Bastion comes from the same Nimrod from “One Man’s Worth”. That ep was set in ‘59 & Purple Eater came out ‘58. That Nimrod self repaired and eventually became Bastion
I’m calling it, Bastion is going to make Magneto into a sentinel
I can’t front I kept thinking that cap was stuck in a different dimension fighting skull. I was like wait ain’t you supposed to be wrestling in the cosmic cube with agent smith?
Watching Gambit die was a straight gut punch. However, try to remember that these characters died almost 30 years ago when the original animated series was canceled. I am just thankful to spend a little more time with them. 😊
Hoping gambit comes back somehow. I live him, favorite xman
They will do something to reverse the timeline or perhaps create a multiversal synchronicity event, so that Cables future still remains as is.
Jessica Clemons hair looks amazing. Distracted me from the episode ❤okaaaay
It’s so good I had to mention it again. The voice acting in episode 6 with Professor X figuring what happened was Top Tier. The panic in his voice was just so real it was perfect.
Gambit does become Death, Apocalypse horseman.
Great Team Rocket reference
Oh my goodness, you guys got me GOOD with that Vine reference re: Rogues tossing Cap's shield. Bravo 😂
Cap's shield doesn't have scratches on it, those lines are just reflective accents. In a later scene you can see the shield has different lines/accents. Just some added detail to keep it from looking too pristine and dull.
I like how the Baston with Magento scene is reminiscent to the infamous "Stuck in the Middle with You" scene in Reservoir Dogs. I wonder why none of the Easter Egg videos mention it. DeMayo et al must have been inspired by Reservoir Dogs. The oldies pop song, the shaving knife, and the tied up victim.
Once again you guys called it. Great job
Nightcrawler wasn’t the only one crying over Gambit, so was Erik’s baby lol 2:32
Thought Azazel was nightcrawlers father?
@@LordBlazfemur nope, that was retconned
@@LordBlazfemurAzazel is the father according to the 90s, he even displays his powers.
been waiting for your rundown 🥰💞
Off-topic but are you guys gonna break down Tales of the Empire ?! Excited to hear your take
Guys, as mentioned in the video, the Three Laws of Robotics were created by a science fiction writer as a set of rules to be used in his stories. If Trask doesn't want to follow suit, then all he has to do is simply not programme them into the Sentinels. What's there to get around? Heck, Skynet and the terminators were able to kill humans. In fact, so is every single robot in Robocop. Besides, the Sentinels obviously have a sensor to differentiate mutants from humans, and Master Mold was able to bypass that logic and deemed all humans as the exact same organism as mutants way back when. What's the problem?
In the original series on FOX, Bishop goes back in time and explains that the same contingency to imprison and eliminate mutants - grew to such a degree in their effectiveness, that stopping there wasn't enough. They started to attack humanity in an attempt to reach total World Order.
Thank you! I appreciate the objective point of view. Very professional!
I just watched this episode 10 min ago. I enjoyed it.
I love this series so much!
It was prob my favorite overall episode. Extremely well done. This series has not disappointed one bit.
Bastion has been present even earlier as a background character during the Genosha episode at the party scene just passing by scoping out everything. That's when he must have captured Magneto. I hope we see like an in-between flashback sequence during that moment just as Master Mold attacks him and the rest of the morlocks.
I don't think Magnito was kidnapped at the party because he definitely was the only one who could have that amount of power level to protect against the Sentinels
@@andrewmulert I meant to say during the attack or aftermath.
They showed that early in the video. But magneto fought against the sentinel how could he have been kidnapped before hand?
@@SynisterPride Above I said he could've been captured during the ongoing attack or after the attack by Bastion.
Great video as always
Great analysis recap as usual.
The Magneto plot, people say its Onslaught sightings.... but in reality is the introduction of Joseph. The Magneto clone.... makes sense. Sinister is in cahoots his Shtick its with clones this season!
Nice mrs.doubtfire quote
Woow thanks for that clarification i definitely was lost for minute
been waiting for this
That shaving segment had a reminiscent feel. Maybe it was a nod to Reservoir Dogs?
i can look past everyone having powers and even morphing like mystique... but two massive robots merging and making a human... bruh, they must've been trippppinnn when they first wrote that in the comics
There was a magic rebirthing portal involved too, it wasn't just two robots merging.
@@wmooring LEZZZZGOOOOOO
The shaving of MAGNETO makes me think Bastion is going to cut his hair to look like a doppelganger.
I dont think he wants to turn Magneto into a sentinel as that is seemingly a thing he wants to do to humans but that eloquent shaving scene was VERY important
Maybe Bastion is banking on Charles coming back so he can make Charles and Magneto form Onslaught.
@@synchrodeaththat’s what I’ve been thinking
Killing all those mutants including an X-Men would cause Charles to feel something and bring him back to earth so his and Magneto’s DNA could then be used by Bastion to make onslaught
I know this is a bit of a random take, but the cabin where Rogue and Cap met looked a bit like Scarlet Witch’s cabin from the end of WandaVision
Been waiting on this.
Damn the episodes just keep getting better and better, I did not expect Magento to still be alive 😱🤯
imagine been so shalow you have to connect everything to feel in the loop or "ahead"
I see NR upload in my notifications. I click.
Bout time. Waited for you.
I loved night crawlers eulogy it was so well done
I love your videos 😊
The imagery of Magneto tied down is so reminiscent of the 2014 Magneto run by Bunn
Love you Rockstar !
18:07 That pose😂😂😂😂😂
It seems obvious (due to Gambits loss that this is them testing out an idea for a reboot mechanism. I dig it. That means Gambit won't be dead forever.
The piece by piece introduction of Cable in this episode mirrors the introduction of Future Trunks in Dragonball Z, a time traveller from the future who also couldn't reveal his true parentage until after he was born.
Nice "the whole time" Mrs Doubtfire reference 😂
16:28 I like when characters hv a secondary ability to help them stand out from other characters w/ similar abilities lol, i.e.:
* Emma Frost - diamond form & telepathy
* Jean Grey - telepathy & telekinesis
* Wolverine - claws & regenerative healing
* Nightcrawler - teleportation & wall crawling + prehensile tail
* Psylocke - telekinetic constructs & telepathy
* Callisto - superspeed & X-factor detection
* Sue Storm - invisibility & force field generation, etc.
I also like when they hv a unique physical appearance (i.e. Beast, Mystique, Nightcrawler, Storm, Blink, etc).
19:39 Pretty sure that's the wrong Spider-Armor. The one that Horizon Labs was created in 2010 and produces the Spider-Armor with the classic red and blue colors but the spider emblem has a neon blue glow to it
Loved all the Hulk & Avengers references and also Charles Xavier was held in the Hulkbuster base during his incarceration by Bastion during the Operation Zero Tolerance story in 1997.
Caps entrance reminded me when he flung his shield at IM and Thor in Avengers 1 in the forest
9:16 omg img omg it’s happening!!!
9:28 yes!!!! Cap!!!!!
I'm mad that i didnt think of the 'wtf richard' frisbee toss when rouge did that lol
Nice Mrs. Doubtfire reference.
reservoir dogs vibes at the end.
I love how the creators confirms things after someone figures it out instead of leaving us in the dark
cant unsee Maximillian Dood xD
It was Bastion all along!
I don’t think next season but maybe a season 3 might see a 4 part Age of Apocalypse story line. With how good the writing has been I really think this team could do wonders with it.
1 thing that worries me is Rouge's actions in this episode, not for (almost) killing Trask but attacking at military government which I can only presume is gonna have repercussions once Ross reports to those higher up aka the president, probably in line with Bastion's plan for that to happened possibly.
And 1 thing we do know for certain tho that from a tweet, episode 8 is gonna be just heart breaking as episode 5 with Gambit's death, so best get tissues ready for that when it comes.
Had to grab that purple Remember It shirt.
Thank you! I couldn’t decide if he meant Mr. Rogers or Mr. (Steve) Rogers.
Yes
How was that even a question.
i’m so happy i’m not the only one that thought of sicaro
If I see the scene of baby Nathaniel being sent to the future one more time my heart is going to shatter.
Heat is the enemy of magnetism. At least for super conductors.
The was a overt 'Mutant Massacre' reference from Trask during the Blackbird call. I think previous videos have drawn parallels between the Mutant Massacre and E for Extinction storylines, but the line from Trask was a direct call out.
13:05 lmao oh Richard 😂😂😂
seen several covers of this episode. i appreciate yours being the most in depth.
15:43 It's interesting that Jean can sense psychic echoes.
