  • It was a pleasure visiting the New Orleans French Quarter area and it was very interesting and fun. There was a girl doing hoola hoops, people getting palm readings, and horse carriages abound. We ate at the Gumbo Shop which was very good, and then had the beignet and coffee at the world-famous Café du Monde.
    Link to French Quarter food tour: www.viator.com/tours/New-Orle...
    Our six year-old son certain loved it, lol. We then visited Bourbon Street at night, and it was very festive with some wild stuff going on. The contrast of Bourbon Street when we visited the next morning was, literally and figuratively, night and day. There was barely anyone on the streets, a much calmer atmosphere, with workers cleaning up the mess leftover from the reverie. Live music was pervasive throughout the French Quarter, it was especially so as the Satchmo Summerfest was taking place.
    Some of the places we visited included:
    * Gumbo Shop
    * St Louis Cathedral
    * Café Du Monde
    * Jackson Square
    * Laura's Candies
    * Bourbon Street
    * Washington Artillery Park
    We even saw the Carnival Dream cruise ship docked nearby. So if you are visiting New Orleans via cruise, then you are very close to all the action. This was from our August visit of the Big Easy.

    It's 3 places in the U.S. that are so different than any other places in the country and its Las Vegas , New York City and New Orleans. These places might as well be there own countries.

      You'll love it
      Good old southern hospitality
      In fact new Orleans is the oldest Asian city in America
      ( saint malo a Filipino establishment was founded not to far from new orleans unfortunately it was destroyed by a hurricane but you'll find a strong Vietnamese community as well as various other Asian aspects of the city)

      @@ericgregorious7047 extremely! Huge Asian population. I know a huge influx of Vietnamese families in the 70's. Now, there are Vietnamese restaurant's just as famous as other standards. Also, check out the Garden District, The Zoo, WWII museum, City Park. Lot's more than just The French Quarter

    Hi I am from Indonesia. Will be going to NO for the first time.
    1.is Uber safe in New Orleans?
    2.are Asians welcomed in New Orleans? Cos didnt see many asian ppl coming here
    3.will be staying at French Quarter area...any good things to see
    4.Can I hire a local.guide to take me around for a day?
    Finally...is there enough things to do for 3 nights?

    • @TravelTouristVideos
      @TravelTouristVideos  6 лет назад +1

      1. Should be as safe as in any other city as far as I know; we took 3 ubers there and didn't have any problem
      2. I don't see why not!
      3. Yes plenty to do especially if you are into partying and want to try many of the famous restaurants & eateries there; if you want something more subdued you can take a swamp boat ride to see alligators (e.g. ruclips.net/video/UVdPuuGn1Po/видео.html ) or check out Oak Alley Plantation ( ruclips.net/video/bZycmLRtNgI/видео.html )
      4. I'm sure you can- you can probably look on tripadvisor for a reputable tour company
      I think there is enough to do for 3 nights especially if you go outside the city.

      Asian's are extremely welcome in New Orleans. There's a huge population of Asian people.
      Most of the people there are awesome, and very friendly! Tip:. If anyone says, "I'll bet you$20 I can tell you where you got your shoes'........Just say , "on my feet'. Oldest trick there. The street car runs up Canal which divides The French Quarter from the Garden and wharehouse district.
      Please take a sec to go to St Charles St, ride the street car, the zoo, city park, and the WWII museum is amazing!
      Have a great time

      The locals hate tourists. They love their money but dislike the people.
      For the best time in NO, try not to dress and act like a tourist.
      Blend in. Befriend the locals and you will have a very good time.
      Be safe. Stay inside the French Quarter.

    Is it worth in rent a car stay in New Orleans? Are most places within walking distance?

    • @TravelTouristVideos
      @TravelTouristVideos  6 лет назад +1

      Depends on where you are staying- so if where you are staying is centrally located, many of the attractions are within walking distance. But if for you want get an alligator swamp tour or other places outside the city, renting a car might be a good idea.
