Great instructive video. No annoying music, simple explanations and the standard number of fbombs. Still looking for an XR upper gear replacement video.
HI , if i can ask you a question. does the shift cable have to be in the nuetral or forward position when putting the drive back? or taking it down for that matter. Thank you
I have a Bravo 111 and the shift does not want to go into reverse, i removed the transit from the boat to replace the cable but there is nothing a wrong with the cable so i pulled the plate off to get to the shifter and i put and adjustable wrench on the shifter arm and it acts like it wants to hang up, what would case that
You refer to something called "number 2" grease when you installed your o rings. Can you tell me what this number 2 grease is? About to tackle this job myself. Thanks. Great vid.
My guess is he's talking about Permatex #2 Form A Gasket, which is used a lot in marine repair. It's not really grease, but rather a permanently pliable sealant that A) keeps the gasket in place when reinstalling and 2) helps create water tight seals where it is applied. I personally use the Quicksilver Perfect Seal but all of these non-hardening sealants are gold when doing marine repairs. Evinrude Johnson Gasket Sealing Compound and Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket are both also very popular.
I know this is old post but "#2" grease is a general multi purpose grease. Look up NLGI2 grease. Not sure why you would use a "form-a-gasket" on an o-ring application.
I know with the VW V6, they use the Bravo2! Cummins 6BT are a great engine. You have to remember the torque that you have straight up with a diesel, as apposed to developing hp with a petrol V8.

Mine takes 420 hp. A standard 454 marine application.
