Emmet talks about starting the Live from Emmet's Place on Mondays at almost the beginning of the pandemic. That to me was the best thing that came out of the pandemic. Monday evenings became very special during that time and it helped me get through whatever that was we went through.
First thoughts: I'd been on 2 other videos listening to 2 different guitar trios..One guitarist has the same first name as the other's last name ! This is all I'll say about that, except it's great to now be here listening to what I like to call jazz, which has recognizable keys, chords, and scales..There seems to be a preponderance of trios now which are fixed on playing stuff that seems to have neither, except that it's done such a way that it comes off as being profound and deep, when it's nothing but sheer noise and no longer music. I mean, modern concepts are expected and needed..But sometimes it just gets ridiculously completely past what can be called music... Emmet and the boys gives us a good solid blend of all...And I call that, jazz...real, jazz !!
Indeed, jazz began to decline in the post-bop period. Something similar happened in the classical music world. Fortunately, there are still musicians who stick to real music.
