      Ride Like a Pro Jerry Palladino Hey there Jerry, got myself the 2020 Low Rider S, Love it! Added stage IV leather bags, sissy bar, and passenger pillion-all removable (use the sissy bar and pillion to mount my travel kit) 1/4 fairing, moustache eng. bar, and heated grips. My only complaint is the rear brake, it is quite inefficient! I’ve raised it up some but it still is quite slight in doing much, have you found this an issue? I’ve heard others mention this too, and suggest going to forward controls but they don’t interest me. I think the actual geometry of the rod and linkage is the issue, I do hope Harley has a fix for this, do you have any other suggestions? I welcome any answer!! Thank you for all the great Videos!

    • @motorman857
      @motorman857  4 года назад

      @@robtremain7210 Yes I noticed the rear brake to be very weak as well. I have no idea why. What sissy bar did you get? I'd like to add one but I want a high sissy bar like the one they have for the Street Bob. So far, I haven't found one.

    Thank you for this video Jerry. My wife and I put this bar on her 2021 LRS after seeing the video, and it was very simple. Same bike setup from 2020, same bar fit. The only two things I did differently were, I used a 5/32” flathead punch to get the plastic plugs out. Just center it over the outside cap, and give it a good quick tap with a hammer. Also, the bolt package we got came with a keeper nut (wizz nut) for the top center bolt. No need for a wrench behind it, just hold it with a finger as you tighten it up. Our bottom two bolts are 3/8” - 9/16” standard bolts vs. the Allen head which came with yours. Thank you again for the video. Keep ‘em coming 👍

    Nice!, just wondering if HD will ever black anodize their hardware. Blacked out bike - blacked out bolts/nuts?!?! Or am I crazy?! Also, IMHO, the sweep on those crash bars should go back, not forward - this looks like too far for resting your foot/leg, and if it really crashes, just seems that it will bend forward. The weight of the bike is more back - due to the engine, yet the bar are sticking out forward. Just my couple of thoughts! cheers

  • @rottiejakeluke
    @rottiejakeluke 5 лет назад +3

    I’ve always found it to be a good practice when installing anything into a new mounting feature, such as when you installed the crash bar, to run all fasteners through their threaded holes first without the accessory. It often clears up any threads and aids with any “too close” positioning between fasteners and accessories. Sure it takes a little longer but like I said it speed up the install and eliminates errors. Try this and see if you agree. Thanks

    • @motorman857
      @motorman857  5 лет назад +1

      Yes that's exactly what I did. Harley also likes to cover all their fasteners with locktight. I've had to heat them up with a torch to melt the locktight on some bolts.

    I am back from an AF deployment, and getting ready to put the same crash bar on the same bike. BTW The tabs actually twist out.

      I agree but so far, Memphis Shades has no interest in my project where thousands upon thousands of riders will see their product on youtube. Maybe a few emails from my fans will change their minds. (hint hint)

    Bike took a big on the appearance scale when you put that crash bar on. You are the MOTORMAN! Our Of all the bikers needing crash bars, you are not one of them sir. Besides, makes the bike look like a training bike, needing training wheels on the back.
    Edit: guy below is correct, it needs a swing arm license plate bracket,,,,Totally cool w/o the crash bar,,,,but then I suppose you would want a rear crash bar also~

    In India, literally EVERY Harley has one of these, because the road conditions are the most unpredictable when compared to any other place in the world, cows, dogs, jay-walking humans, cars on the wrong side of the road are all common, sadly! This has saved my bike a couple of times!

    Do exhaust and sissy bar next

    • @motorman857
      @motorman857  5 лет назад

      The exhaust is on the way. I haven't found a sissy bar made for this bike yet. They have them for the Street Bob but I'm not sure if it will fit the S .
