Those of you that don't get Imus are the clueless ones. He is a legend who will be sorely missed on TV and thank god not radio. He is a true personality who is not afraid to laugh or criticize himself. If you don't like Imus you have essentially missed a true piece of American media history. His interviews are always direct and insightful and he truly educates his audience without even trying to.
Anthony Miceli If you think Imus isn’t afraid to criticize himself, you know nothing about Imus. Imus thinks everyone and anyone is ripe for vicious insult, except himself. No one can tell him anything. I was only 26 at WNBC Radio and he ruined my broadcasting career and much of my life because he has NO sense of humor about himself at all. I couldn’t even admit it to myself, let alone talk about, for 29 years. He was an alcoholic and a drug addict and he is apparently unrepentant about what he did and has done to people, myself included, for the past 35 years. Evidenced by the number of comments on this page, he has no listeners anymore. He may be a legend historically, but he burnt every bridge out there by being a nasty a-hole, including the one to his partner of 40 years, Charles McCord. If that doesn’t say it all, I don’t know what does.
@Sam Katz.....This outrageous filthy mouthed outburst clearly exposes you for what you are. Obviously you're a far too unrestrained and explosive a personality to fit the needs of a career in broadcasting. Nor are you seemingly able to stay within the bounds of mouthed gutter trash even a Don Imus seems to find so attractive. So I'm not surprised your career in broadcasting was so short lived....apparently you doomed yourself. Grow up you LOUDMOUTH!!!
@ gcjerryusc, I'm inclined to agree since the impact of the show (and Imus) on Charles was so physically and emotionally draining. Charles would often complain about traveling in the early hours from his home in New Jersey to the radio station in NYC. Finally when worn beyond frazzled I think he decided life has so much more to offer and he simply retired. Imus's greatest regret was that Charles left the show. By the way I not certain what Sam Katz is attempting to prove when he posts "he has no sense of humor about himself" since Rob and Tony would often tell Imus that his "colostomy bag was full and it needed emptying" and that they hoped the "old fossil would cough his lungs up". I was never a dedicated follower of the Don Imus show but the guy was self deprecating and had a great sense of humor about himself.
Good job Neil i am from Danbury , Connecticut too you were at Immaculate High my Brother and I went to Danbury High we all Graduated in 1976. I listened to IMAN in the 70's , 80's and of course when he started WFAN , he will be missed but videos like this will live on forever.
Don Imus, Legendary 'Imus in the Morning' Host, Dies at 79 The controversial radio personality passed away on Friday morning at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in College Station, Texas.
Towards the inevitable end Don Imus did tend to drone ever increasingly on while seemingly incapable of remaining on message. Often given to fits of increasing braggadocio regarding his life's accomplishments and self worth, this blustering old fart would lose himself to the most ridiculous spasms of self induced melancholy. Once this vibrant entertaining show would rock, aided by a cast of characters that were hilarious. The ravages of time and lifestyle had not befriended Don Imus; quickly it became ever more increasingly obvious that under his bittersweet leadership chaos and anarchy would eventually supplant the resounding charm of a once brilliantly conceived, relevant, well orchestrated piece of meaningful radio. On balance it was indeed time for this venerable, crusty, used up old castoff to fire up his Bentley and drive off into the setting sun.....that dog don't hunt anymore.
It used to be that Imus was on a station in El Paso, but that station changed hands and Imus was left out. Then, not long after that, he came on RFD. One year later, it was the Big Time with Fox Business. Now, we're back to nothing except podcasts. Here's hoping Wyatt the best on his rodeo career.
So I have lived in TX all my life ..and if I saw this person walking up to me ...in my state..or even in the south...My initial response would be ...Who is this old lez woman ...and what's with the "Concrete Cowboy" garb...and that's before I heard him/her say a word
Mysterious dude. Mumble mumble. Must be one of those guys who got big at one time in the past and then kept milking their renown, but if you weren't part of the scene back then, you can't figure why he's around.
Yea, always has a scowl on his mug. Even those he was touted as some kind of half assed comedian years ago, I can't ever recall hearing him laugh in a genuine way.; On his rare moments of mirth it always sounds forced or insincere. For years I listened to him and he became a curmudgeon long before he got old. Speaking of aging, have you seen a recent photo of him. EeEEEch, he looks like he is preparing to be a replacement actor on the Munsters or Addams Famlly. God bless him and his skinny , 24-yr youngr than him, wife for their charitable work viz cancerous kids.
Imus brags to much about his chubby,Fat son who will soon break his shoulder and need three operations and he will never be able to ride RODEO again.I can see it coming
That Imus, friend and supporter of folks like George Carlin, Lenny Bruce, and Mort Sahl, wound up on Fox, supporting the candidacy of Donald Trump, is truly disheartening.
If Carlin supported Trump, it would be in the same spirit (and the same philosophical depth) in which he said that he rooted for natural disasters to occur: the history of human kind on Earth suggested that disasters is what they deserved.
Klemps you are just one of the moronic minority who condemn the President and his supporters because he isn't one of the ruling elite who worships illegals just to get votes. Fuck you.
Trump is not one of the ruling elite? That's hilarious. He's a billionaire, with huge estates all over the globe, a marble-laden triplex on Fifth Avenue, a mega-yacht, a private jet, and Mar A Lago, the largest private estate in America. You must be smokin' Imus' old crack.
You fucking dunce. The ruling class is made up of career politicians like Schumer, McConnell, Hillary, Ryan and anyone in DC who listens to lobbyists. Trump owes bo one and loves the country. He kisses no ass. Go haunt a house dummy.
Donna Castel "Lovely wife?" Wow -- I hope that was sarcastic! She's a no talent, stupid, screaming, ignorant jackass, and if you look on his IITM Facebook page, that's the universal opinion.
Donna Castel And to answer the question you took down -- wisely -- no. I had trauma avoidance for 29 years. Blocked him out completely. Also blocked out my career and aspirations completely. That's how trauma avoidance works. It's only now that I can talk or think about it or him, complete with latent PTSD. But thanks for the thoughts.
+Sam Katz Anyone who thinks that wife is lovely is nuts. It used to be entertaining when she would come on a few times but the "promotion" to full time status made the show a complete train wreck and almost unbearable to watch/ listen. This also rubbed many people the wrong way. Really the only reason Imus got the job at Fox Business Network was because they were new at the time and needed someone with experience. Now that is over though. If he wants his radio show to stay he needs to shape up or ship out.
I watch and listen to as much Imus as I can. Thank God for RUclips.
That's genuine love that like alot of us Neil had for Imus!! He touched many and made many peoples days easier!
That was some great Radio / TV thanks Neil , god bless the Iman!!!
Bless you Don... one of a very funny kind.. and a charitable human being too
Neil , would love to see you do an updated tribute, you did such an awesome job! Thanks much
Great video! Loved it all with Neil! I think Neil should have more fun like he use to on the air! Miss Imus and may he RIP.!
HE IS NOW....RIP DON IMUS

😢😢😢😢😢😢
i love NEIL CAVUTO ....
Imus gives me hope. If he can make it in radio then "anyone" can make it in radio, absolutely anyone.
Want to know what think radio writing Howard and his personality space guy you. Off air try one time with alien any universe one?

Great comment!
He's describing Howard Stern

Like Imus at one time, then he turned into a cranky old man.
i didn't know he was gone, cuz never watched him.
i used to watch him when he was on MSNBC back in the day
Imus.......a radio personality based out of New York City who praises country music and talks about the rodeo. Sure, makes sense..NOT.
i know ... WTF
Humor doesn't have to "make sense" to be funny, where's YOUR'S?
didnt know he was fired or even gone
lost interest when he not on tv no mo
Devoting their life's to the cruelty towards animals
Devoting their lives to being cruel towards animals is a despicable way to live 😡
Mysterious dude. Mumble mumble. Must be one of those guys who got big at one time in the past and then kept milking their renown, but if you weren't part of the scene back then, you can't figure why he's around.
Imus morphed from a funny young dude into a grouchy old curmudgeon.
Imus - all hat, no cattle 😅
looool

+Double Ghod
Lately, Imus looks like death warmed over.
Faustus g
it would seem that covuto would look over to next urinal and start tapping furiously👏👻
Hw wants to be Stern
Imus is not the original shock jock. Howard Stern is. Imus stole Stern's gig.
Imus was going at it more than a decade before Stern.
Imus was 10 years behind Stern
I was just thinking the same thing but then i quickly remembered what network this information was coming from lol
Imus may have been on the radio longer, but he copied Stern after he saw how much success he was having. Baba Booey!
MrAmc1291 No he only tried. I us was neither interesting or funny.
Don Imus a shock jock? LMAO!!!! Imus was irrelevant the minute Howard Stern was born. This is boomer central
He needs to retire his mouth. It's time.

From your lips to God's ears!

All those guys would back a candidate who has said we would find out who was behind 9/11 "Yoo will find out who really knocked down those towers"~D.T.

At least now you only have to hear the decay and not see it.
Stern owned Imus...lmao
I find him rude & ignorant. Have no idea what his lovely wife sees in him. I never watch him after seeing how ignorant he is , so I won't miss him.
