This is my first 5th wheel and we had our first test run with it in a local campground even in our Ohio winter. Temps overnight went to the mid 20's and every part of the camper stayed warm enough, though we had a plug in space heater in the master bedroom. I wanna say that 5 years ago I ran across this floor plan on your channel and fell in love with it. I just happened to find one in my area and looked at it in person. Made me love it even more. Here we are again and I still love it. But the prices have drastically jumped in that time frame also. Plus my old truck wouldn't like pulling that. But I still hope to someday have one.
Like the new front cap design and colors. I know quite a few like the table and chairs but we are good ol’ dinette booth people. Kitchen would be good for us as we do most cooking outside. Really like the slide out griddle too.
I've always been a big fan of Cougars (the rv) they don't seem to cut any corners except for that dang 4" exhaust fan that sounds like a drone taking off. I do feel however that the new paint job on the nose seems a big plain. Overall though I would have no problem having this beauty in my driveway.
I've always been a fan of cougars, especially their front living models. I don't like the lack of food prep areas and I don't like there's not a coffee bar in the kitchen. However, as a RUclips content creator, I'd love to have that office space, and the storage in the attic would be great for all of my camera equipment. Cougar did up their game for sure, that's not an argument I'll give you.
Quick note -- Cedar Creek's version of this layout can actually have a dedicated desk put into their mid-room slide right from the factory -- super handy for editing and whatnot! Here's a quick look at the recent version but not one of my full in-depth videos: bit.ly/3DnvnPd
@@Erin-Thor When I was ordering our inventory for Haylett RV I was ALWAYS really willing and interested to order those oddball options simply because I knew MOST dealerships wouldn't We found a LOT of success by being the odd duck of the bunch that way
Being a larger person I appreciate the free standing table options. The bar under that table will get in the way of the person on the inside while the person on the outside has a butt check hanging over the edge. I don't think (in this unit anyway) the extra bed is really all that much of a value add.
Man I can almost never keep up lol, when I saw the debut for the new color and cap design I was in all, it just makes it that much better. Was in a bunch over the weekend including this one. Really don't have much else to say, same as last years model. The grill coming further out is nice tho. Would you mind dropping me a quick review at g.page/r/CdPcitNVx2nDEAg/review in return for the helping hand if you haven't done so?
Eye candy exterior for sure. I'm really liking the idea of a bonus room for office/craft/study area. This one is nice but not quite what we want for a park model. Thank you Josh for all your hard work bringing us much appreciated information and tours!
Josh, I'm an RV transporter and things are pretty tough for us these days, not many units for us to move. What do you see as the issue and do you see it resolving soon? Love your videos
I'm not sure sir. I have an early version of a theory that the first quarter of next year will pick back up on the load boards but it's still a bit early yet
I really like it. I do wish more of these mid-bunk models would move the bunk room door, much like the Jayco, to give a little more kitchen storage. Other than that I like it
Josh, I am starting to think seriously about a destination RV. I plan to live in it 24/7/365. I would have Bishs tow it and set it up. I more than likely will park it. In the south and love the idea of the office for sell my craft.
I have several salem/cedar creeks coming up in the destination market so... stay tuned! Our Ludington, MI store is the highest volume destination trailer dealership both in Michigan and all of Bish's RV! They're well educated on them if you need a contact place!
Thanks Nerd! Love this Cougar floorplan. We are looking for a trailer with space for two desks. We aren't looking to go full time, maybe just summers away from home. We need some place where we can both work without being in each other's space. The mid-bunk seems to be perfect. We can easily fit two desks in there, if the bottom cabinets can come out. If not, the dresser can be replaced or the couch in the living room can be replaced, either with a desk, and still have room for guests. You mentioned that designers are thinking about gaming rooms. When are they going to think about offices? I like the features of this unit. I'm not too sure about that bathroom faucet though, but i never tried one either. I am disappointed that there's no hutch or counter space for a coffee maker. Or did I miss something? Anyway, keep up the good work!
I really like the updates that the have done to the 2023 Cougar. Happy 25th birthday to Cougar. The setup in the mid bunk room is cool, it can be the office or gaming room. Does the main ac come with a heat pump built in? Thank you Uncle Josh for the information the good and the bad. Your friend an number one fan Leonard from NC
Question a little off tops sort of, we are buying the cougar.. The last few days going back and forth what is the safe and recommend for hitch, an Anderson Companion or the B & W? We have a short bed, meet all requirements, though wished we knew to buy the 1 ton. oh seen your name in an article, must find it, they use you as a professional reference 🤣 Love The cougar of course, love the whole new look, glad they kept the shower seat for us handicap. I actually love cougar 5th wheel over Montana. If I did not know any better, it looks like a Montana from afar. I believe they are going to keep it affordable, couples or family geared with some really nice luxury touches. The upper class Montana will always be their topshelf . I do believe our issue with Cougar, a pull behind is just not us, let alone the Grey tank. I look forward to your guidance on the setup for a truck to pull the 33'3 New Cougar???? think I'm confused... to much reading .. will be hubby's first 5th wheel. He knows he needs to go to the training area here and practice. just lost on the hitch. price is not an issue
Love the Montana Josh, but love this Cougar too. Did not realize you could get a middle bunk/bonus room in this price range. The kitchen on this one is great for us. I cook most of the food outside and my wife makes a couple of the sides inside. I think I like the table and chairs, but the booth would be more comfy for game nights. We don't usually eat in the dinette so I think keep the booth. It will take a min. to get used to the new exterior, but it was time and I am sure it will grow on me.
@@JoshtheRVNerd 600 is a huge ouch price. Believe will add onto the 400 down the road. BTW not sure if you seen in my post, getting the 33 ft Cougar 5th wheel ( new) we are confused on hitches Anderson Companion or a B & M?

@Josh the RV Nerd at Bish's RV I need to know what system we need to tow a 5th wheel Cougar. 290rls new model 2022 Back on track We were told the Anderson Companion is what we needed for our 5th wheel as the number one best hitch But I like the B&W for the short beds made just for the Ford, the reviews are really good. The price isn't of concern to us it's safety that matters, it's where we are hoping you would suggest a hitch kit for the 5th wheel. A Big Please!!! Hint for a RUclips video (Hitches you believe are good, pros and cons of 5th wheels and towable wouldbe a help to lots) OK, THE OTHER 5TH WHEEL OPTION: I know the B&W makes a very heavy KIT very heavy but is safe. We think it may be too huge BUT the only safe way. We of course are closing in a few days and the push to buy soon the hitch. Of course, they keep saying Anderson Companion, think they have it I'm stuck, not as if they are helping us, In the end, its our choice to buy what we want. My husband is a newbie with a soon-to-be 5th wheel. Josh we are stressed, if think there is a better than the two listed please share. I know you know Cougars well, why I am bugging you. Lol My pick: I liked the Ford short bed B&W its light, and made for the truck. However, the other B&W Companion is heavy as heck, they suggested to us at the shop but stressed how big to, and would be stuck in there after we un- hitch A Little About Our Truck. & our need on Turns: With the right 5th wheel hitch, at times where we camp it can be a very sharp turn backing in, need one that is stable on turns. Truck: A diesel F 250 we bought a few years it has the tow package and set up with the hole to prep in place to drop the system. The truck currently has a lift kit and an airbags system. Thanks for trying to help me, it's that darn TBI the army gave me. Lol. I trust your suggestion, waiting until we hear your recommendation.. A huge thanks again!
@@JoshtheRVNerd BTW We did ask, anymore they just want a sell. All they tell us, it's east to take out. The B&W for the Ford, they sell, was on the top 10 list but it doesn't slide like the big heavy B&D huge, but does the job. In the article it suggested they make it for the Ford, same company, just a lighter to take out and non slides. Their stupid have no clue Do you think the Ford short bed B&W is up there in the list of a good hitch?? Just you opinion, not holding you to it.
We like this unit very much. We bought a 2022 model and love it. The upgrades are nice. As far as the bathroom sink the faucet is ok but brushing your teeth is problematic when trying to spit in the sink. Very awkward. All in all an excellent 5th wheel.
As far as interior decor goes, I prefer Craftsman (mixture of light brown and gray). All brown is too dark and Farmhouse is too light. Guess you could call me Goldielocks!
Fun fact- a friend has a similar 5th wheel with no access with the slide closed. They leave the window on the slide open and send their kid in to load things! Hilarious to watch.
Great video as always Josh! A little off topic for a potential educational video for the masses... Would you consider doing a video on all of the cable/satellite and antenna connections in an RV? I'm assuming (maybe foolishly) that most are standardized on how they operate and connect with one another. My 273RL has 4 hookups and I've yet to get leads long enough on my multi-meter to ohm them out. Following online forums, it's a very popular topic. Just a thought if it's even possible with your busy schedule. Have a great one buddy!!
They're actually not super standardized like you'd think.. Keystone for instance has their KeyTV setup that works differently And MFGs are not always consistent with how everything is wired across models. It's dumb. Sadly, it's something you really have to learn individually in the RV -- kinda like learning light switches in a new house if that makes sense
I really like the new exterior colours. Being from Canada, how does the tankless water heater handle below freezing temperatures? We plan on upgrading soon and really like the Cougars. Would enjoy a Uncle Josh take on the 354FLS. Keep up the great work😁
Very nice rv although I noticed there was no bumper? That would be a deal breaker for me as that is sometimes how I judge, badly I must admit, how close I am to something. This questionable technique I have would crunch the skin and be cause for shop repair which would cause me no end of smacking myself on the head....just saying. Thanks for listening and showing this great rv, you do an amazing and entertaining job for us viewers.
A lot of RVs have removed the bumpers in the bath to provide a rear hitch. I'm not saying I'm in support of it or defending it - simply sharing that it's become common recently
LOL yeah -- not a lot INSIDE yet I suspect next year they'll do the interior. Then the exterior a year after that Likely alternating to always give me an excuse to record stuff lol
I'm not seeing Type C's in these yet.. BUT.. in a basic grey wolf of all things today I did see several type C plugs! I literally pointed it out and thought of you :)
She’s a great one! This Sheila has a great appeal in many ways, her bedroom is huge, love the den for children and loft, along with that nice island but alas, the TV 📺 s too large. I would rather have more counter space around the stove top!
I'm only 35 and gaming and RVs does not compute. The kids should be running outside skinning their knees and playing in the dirt while camping. Not sequesters inside. I guess I'm old-school.
I'm similar in how I camp actually but how people use RVs is changing daily. There are plenty of people who might look at something like this as a solo/couple's RV with a middle office / 2nd living for instance
I love my SO...so why would I want a theatre seat that won't allow us to cuddle. If you love your SO why would you tolerate theatre seating? You can't cuddle. Hard no for me.
Now I know what has affected you, too much SNL when you were younger, learning jokes from them. 🤣🤣🤣.They’re doing great but fell short on bathroom vent fan, space around the stove, no half bath, the grill🤔. Back on the inside(where’s the coffee bar).
A little big for me, love the furniture color, too many slides to break down. Needs a downstairs toilet. I'll take the free standing table and chairs over the booth. What I really like is the bench seat on the wall side and chairs on the recliner side. The bottom up shade in the door window is a great idea. Wish it had a camp kitchen instead of just a grill.

Not everyone wants any microwave! I would take it out. I'll bring my EL 360.
Table & chairs & don't want or need several tv in every room or several couches or bunks. Couple recliners & I'm good.
With a few modifications, like add a generator, this would be a good destination.
Josh, I've used a bathroom faucet on the side (was on the wall side) and worked fine.
The one thing i don't like is washer in a bedroom closet.
@@hshalom9113 your so right, even in homes, removing, a small one is usually placed in a roll out in a cabinet. There are so many new gadgets that can be put away and cook a whole meal. I doubt we ever use ours much anymore, hence the toss soon to our kitchen rehab..
Hi Josh , I'm on the East Coast New Hampshire . I travel quite a bit to Virginia , If I want to buy an RV through you folks , will you ship a particular RV to that store from another location if it's not stocked in Richmond ? Thanks for all your input and reviews , I am new to RVing and you have helped me tremendously in making a decision .

Yeah we can shift between stores but there’s a cost based on distance
Id get the trailer with the booth seating, kitchen has just enough room to work in while camping
I definitely like the half booth seating, booth on the slide side wall and free standing chairs on the sofa side 👍🤩
Those oddball frankentables seem to be growing in popularity
Wow. Is that a Cougar or a Montana?
right?!
I really like it. Definitely need to update the fan in the bathroom.
Watch that used market
Take the dining room table out completely and replace with one long couch. They can add 2 or 3 barstools for the island.
Arctic Wolf has done that in a few models
Like the new front cap design and colors. I know quite a few like the table and chairs but we are good ol’ dinette booth people. Kitchen would be good for us as we do most cooking outside. Really like the slide out griddle too.
Thx Mikey!
I've always been a big fan of Cougars (the rv) they don't seem to cut any corners except for that dang 4" exhaust fan that sounds like a drone taking off. I do feel however that the new paint job on the nose seems a big plain. Overall though I would have no problem having this beauty in my driveway.
(the RV) got me like 😅😅😅
I've always been a fan of cougars, especially their front living models.
@@Erin-Thor When I was ordering our inventory for Haylett RV I was ALWAYS really willing and interested to order those oddball options simply because I knew MOST dealerships wouldn't
We found a LOT of success by being the odd duck of the bunch that way
Being a larger person I appreciate the free standing table options.
P.S. really wish we could've done it with you guys and meet ya but too far away, we are picking up a 2023 29rli next week. Will let ya know when if/when we actually get it in our possession, I thank you for your great video of the 29rli👍👍
Well congrats man! That model really seems to be catching fire. Great pick :)
No worries on where -- I appreciate all your little visits and hope you continue to join us where you can. Would you mind dropping me a quick review at g.page/r/CdPcitNVx2nDEAg/review in return for the helping hand if you haven't done so?
@@JoshtheRVNerd of course!
I really like the Cougar brand, just don’t know if I am sold on the new Exterior color choice!
Absolutely love the exterior! Cougar is definitely a favorite of ours! Thanks Josh!
Our pleasure!
Not sure this will compete with Montana but Alpine and Avalanche are probably not real happy! Love the new look!
lol you might be right!
Eye candy exterior for sure. I'm really liking the idea of a bonus room for office/craft/study area. This one is nice but not quite what we want for a park model. Thank you Josh for all your hard work bringing us much appreciated information and tours!
What would you prefer, Terry? We have a huge lineup with plenty of options!
@@JoshtheRVNerd thanks for taking the time to reply
I really like it. I do wish more of these mid-bunk models would move the bunk room door, much like the Jayco, to give a little more kitchen storage. Other than that I like it
I was thinking the same thing too! The door facing the kitchen really takes away from a potential coffee bar next to the pantry.
I would use it as an office. Is that counter big enough for a computer.
It's tight.. a little shallow perhaps
Hmm.. Maybe something with opposing hide-a-beds on the lower deck of the RV.. Like one of these: bit.ly/3S0Expi or bit.ly/3S6NuNB
No heat pumps in these -- that's still some of the stuff reserved for Montanas currently
Question a little off tops sort of, we are buying the cougar.. The last few days going back and forth what is the safe and recommend for hitch, an Anderson Companion or the B & W? We have a short bed, meet all requirements, though wished we knew to buy the 1 ton. oh seen your name in an article, must find it, they use you as a professional reference 🤣
Love
The cougar of course, love the whole new look, glad they kept the shower seat for us handicap.
I'm sorry Rhonda - I'm having trouble following your comment. Were you simply sharing or did you have a specific question?
The new exterior colors are a vast improvment over the previous color versions!
Mid-bunks are also available in a price point below this one -- see here bit.ly/2WWTr92 or here bit.ly/3myucUL
What more solar power
200w standard
400 and 600w packages are available as well from the factory!
Beyond that we could custom nearly anything
@@JoshtheRVNerd 600 is a huge ouch price. Believe will add onto the 400 down the road.
BTW not sure if you seen in my post, getting the 33 ft Cougar 5th wheel ( new) we are confused on hitches
Anderson Companion or a B & M?
@@rhondaraye3790 I just did a few minutes ago but it was after hours when you dropped that comment. I wasn't able to quite follow what you were asking but this comment helps clarify
Both hitches are great. I don't think you'd be more/less happy either way. Without having the ability to speak with you longer I'm not able to provide any sort of personalized insights.
I would recommend visiting an RV Service/Hitching center and speaking with them in person. They'll have a few questions to ask you that can help clarify which might be the better option for you
@Josh the RV Nerd at Bish's RV I need to know what system we need to tow a 5th wheel Cougar. 290rls new model 2022
Back on track
We were told the Anderson Companion is what we needed for our 5th wheel as the number one best hitch
But I like the B&W for the short beds made just for the Ford, the reviews are really good.
The price isn't of concern to us it's safety that matters, it's where we are hoping you would suggest a hitch kit for the 5th wheel.
A Big Please!!!
Hint for a RUclips video
(Hitches you believe are good, pros and cons of 5th wheels and towable wouldbe a help to lots)
OK, THE OTHER 5TH WHEEL OPTION:
I know the B&W makes a very heavy KIT very heavy but is safe.
Lol
My pick: I liked the Ford short bed B&W its light, and made for the truck.
However, the other B&W Companion is heavy as heck, they suggested to us at the shop but stressed how big to, and would be stuck in there after we un- hitch
A Little About Our Truck. & our need on Turns:
With the right 5th wheel hitch, at times where we camp it can be a very sharp turn backing in, need one that is stable on turns.
Truck:
A diesel F 250 we bought a few years it has the tow package and set up with the hole to prep in place to drop the system.
The truck currently has a lift kit and an airbags system.
Thanks for trying to help me, it's that darn TBI the army gave me. Lol.
I trust your suggestion, waiting until we hear your recommendation..
A huge thanks again!
@@JoshtheRVNerd BTW
We did ask, anymore they just want a sell. All they tell us, it's east to take out.
The B&W for the Ford, they sell, was on the top 10 list but it doesn't slide like the big heavy B&D huge, but does the job.
In the article it suggested they make it for the Ford, same company, just a lighter to take out and non slides. Their stupid have no clue
Do you think the Ford short bed B&W is up there in the list of a good hitch?? Just you opinion, not holding you to it.
Love your channel. Your content is great. I was wondering if you also cover class A's. I'm looking for a gas class A.
I try where I can. Here's a motorized playlist in which you'll find a few: ruclips.net/p/PLUT5NkY-l88w1Hs0eU0VuoHm48kk6AAn6
We like this unit very much. We bought a 2022 model and love it. The upgrades are nice. As far as the bathroom sink the faucet is ok but brushing your teeth is problematic when trying to spit in the sink. Very awkward. All in all an excellent 5th wheel.
TY Mark - exactly the kind of info I was hoping to get
As far as interior decor goes, I prefer Craftsman (mixture of light brown and gray). All brown is too dark and Farmhouse is too light. Guess you could call me Goldielocks!
You'd consider this one a little too light then if I'm reading this correctly?
Fun fact- a friend has a similar 5th wheel with no access with the slide closed. They leave the window on the slide open and send their kid in to load things! Hilarious to watch.
lol
The bathroom faucet would be better if it had a single handle at the top of the faucet .
Keystone for instance has their KeyTV setup that works differently
And MFGs are not always consistent with how everything is wired across models. It's dumb.
Sadly, it's something you really have to learn individually in the RV -- kinda like learning light switches in a new house if that makes sense
@@JoshtheRVNerd got it and thank you for taking the time to reply!
I really like the new exterior colours. Being from Canada, how does the tankless water heater handle below freezing temperatures? We plan on upgrading soon and really like the Cougars. Would enjoy a Uncle Josh take on the 354FLS. Keep up the great work😁
I'm really eager to get my hands on that one. I saw the original prototype but we've literally never received one at my home store here
Very nice rv although I noticed there was no bumper? That would be a deal breaker for me as that is sometimes how I judge, badly I must admit, how close I am to something. This questionable technique I have would crunch the skin and be cause for shop repair which would cause me no end of smacking myself on the head....just saying. Thanks for listening and showing this great rv, you do an amazing and entertaining job for us viewers.
A lot of RVs have removed the bumpers in the bath to provide a rear hitch. I'm not saying I'm in support of it or defending it - simply sharing that it's become common recently
Ok. So after the “hot box” comment, Uncle Josh has officially taken 1st place from David Lee Roth on my person I’d most like to have a beer with list.
High marks! lol :)
They need the bigger fart fan as standard equipment
TY Steven
With that great exterior refresh I was excited to see the interior changes, then…meh.
LOL yeah -- not a lot INSIDE yet
I suspect next year they'll do the interior.
Then the exterior a year after that
Likely alternating to always give me an excuse to record stuff lol
Love the more neutral exterior! Matches my white/black 3500HD silverado sport much better! Dinette matches super well! Any usb type c yet uncle Josh?
I'm not seeing Type C's in these yet.. BUT.. in a basic grey wolf of all things today I did see several type C plugs! I literally pointed it out and thought of you :)
She’s a great one! This Sheila has a great appeal in many ways, her bedroom is huge, love the den for children and loft, along with that nice island but alas, the TV 📺 s too large. I would rather have more counter space around the stove top!
Thx Jackie! :)
The people who design SO MANY rv's, i am convinced, NEVER use their products!! WHERE IS THE COUNTER SPACE??
Really nice rig but waaay too big for me. Nice if you have a family OR occasional guests.
Totally fair. Mid bunks are huge
Man if you met my father, then you'd know EXACTLY where my humor comes from. I also listened to a LOT of Weird Al so...
@@JoshtheRVNerd they say that we inherit things from our parent(s), I only had Momma
When an RV is so close to perfect it is truly mind boggling why they continue to use the Dollar Store vent fan in the bathroom😩
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Keystone, cougars are garbage, from day one. Pls don't sell em, ppl will have problems with them.
