    The fact that the Samsung with its battery size compites toe to toe with the Pixel which has a weaker processor and a bigger battery and the iPhone 15 that has a 60hz display is amazing. Samsung did a great job this year with their S lineup.

  • @andyH_England
    @andyH_England Год назад +48

    They all did comparable, only 30 minutes difference, which doesn't change your life. That is very good for relatively compact phones with smaller batteries than their top-tier lineups.
    I have the S23 and can confirm it does warm up more than I expected, but never too hot. But relative to expectations in apps like Twitter, you can feel its warmth when I do not expect that. The iPhone had the best thermals but, again, no game-changer.
    Obviously, with nearly a 40% larger battery, I expected the Pixel 8 to be 2+ hours better than the iPhone, but the Tensor 3 is less efficient than the newer chips in the iPhone. 120Hz will make little difference as many apps run at 60Hz (camera, video, benchmarks), and even Twitter and Instagram will only use 120Hz for a fraction of a second per scroll.
    I would be happy with any of these, as 8+ hours is about twice my daily need! Great job!

    Suggestions:
    1. Change settings so that display stays on always.

    really surprised with the pixel, i have seen so many other reviewers posting 4-5 hrs SOT. i don't understand how this managed to go that long. is it because it ran on wi fi ? i really want to buy a pixel but i am on the fence because of the battery life reports.

It is capped at 60Hz out of the box and many other reviewers missed this point ending up saying that it has an "incredible" battery life.

    Hey, thanks for all the work and it was a great job though I have to say because you use just Wi-Fi doesn’t really represent real world use as the modem on the pixel 8 is definitely inferior to the modem that are on the galaxy and the iPhone and I’m saying yes as a person who has a pixel eight, so not hating on the pixel, but these results would be a lot different. If you use data. I understand using data would be difficult. You’d have to have three of the same chips on the same carrier but that would be a real world use. This is actually testing how these phones work on Wi-Fi not realistic every day use.

    • @LoverOfTech
      @LoverOfTech  Год назад +1

      They all have sim cards in there but running on WiFi. The data plans I got for the phones didn’t activate properly for some reason so I had to use WiFi.
      Also why most people do battery drain tests on WiFi is because indoor signal is not always the best meaning poor signal and constant buffering

    В чём смысл этого теста, если в самом начале ЛТЕ переключился на Вай-фай? Это ни разу не экстремальный тест, если телефоны находятся не на ЛТЕ. Не могу понять, обзорщикам платят за то, чтобы они не держали Пиксель на ЛТЕ при тестах? Это уже шестой тест батареи Пикселя, который я смотрю, и во всех шести тестах он на вай-фае. Смартфон - мобильное устройство, его используют в 90% случаев вне дома. Вообще не понимаю этот момент.

    Isn't running 3DMark unfair? If the scores mean nothing in this test then why let some CPUs push harder than the others? I feel like this part just punishes faster CPUs.
    Also 3DMark is not an app you would use daily like the others, I would replace this with an internet browsing test instead.

    Great battery test. Were the batteries on all 3 of these phones relatively new? I know the Pixel 8 just came out just over a month ago. Were the other 2 phones batteries about the same age? Seems like the best performance I get from a new phone battery is in the first 6 or so months then its a slow decline over time.

    7:20 S23 always on display kicked in for aprox. 12 min so it's not quite fair and happened also a second time at 8:17 for 2 min, so I think iphone would have come second and S23 last. You should deactivate AOD and put the screen to always stay on during the tests.🙂

    • @LoverOfTech
      @LoverOfTech  Год назад

      There is no option to keep the screen always on for an android phone even when you go to the dev options.
      Try staying awake 9 hours straight doing s battery drain test, it’s not easy and like I stated there is going to be some room for error. Have a good day

    • @mihaiceclan9849

      @@LoverOfTech it's understandable but at least deactivate always on display so it won't happen to kick in in case of some apps. Even tough iphone probably would have won agains s23, it's a good performance considering it has a 60hz display (s23 can go down to 48hz) and smaller battery.🙂
