- TwoSetViolin and Viola King collaborate to present the classic piece that once brought the deep sound of the viola to millions!
I reacted to the original version of this in my most recent video and realized it doesn’t exist anywhere on RUclips. But rather than reuploading my old playing, I decided to re-record myself, this time with superior technique and better intonation. This is the “remastered” version of The Sacrilegious Violist, which started me off on my RUclips journey back in November 2019…

It's beautiful, and so was the original, but I especially appreciate that this video implicitly promotes the idea of a continual journey of improving as an instrumentalist!
I just want to say. I played Viola 9 years through school, put it down when I went to college but was recently looking to pick it up again just for the joy of it. In doing a little research last week that's the first time that I even found out viola jokes were a thing! I always felt respected in all my years playing viola by the violinists, cellists, and bassists. I think that's how it should be, everyone has a very beautiful part!

You probably don't remember, but two years ago during this "Play with TwoSet" challenge, I left you a comment. You weren't the Viola King yet and you posted a video reacting to TwoSet reacting to you (😄). I told you how much I appreciated the way you chose to feature the viola. You managed to display this instrument in an amazing way.
Since then, you created this other channel and used your platform to talk about the viola jokes issue. I loved that you did it in a smart and respectful way, without antagonising anyone. And it paid off! Your Viola King channel is very successful and TwoSet took your feedback into account, doing their best to tone the viola jokes down. (Of course old habits die hard and sometimes Brett and Eddy can't help it, but I feel that we're going the right way...)
Viola is a beautiful sounding instrument that deserves more love (and more repertoire!) and your channel is a great place to learn to appreciate it more.
I had never commented under one of your videos before, except for this one time I mentioned at the beginning, but I really wanted to tell you that I enjoy your work very much. Keep it up ! 😊👍

Bro I was shocked when I heard the C string, I did know it could go that low. On cello that'd be fourth finger first position on the G string and that's mainly why I was shocked, but to be fair I hadn't heard a viola in months unfortunately. I've seen a lot of your videos pop up on my recommended and I think it's great what you do. Some people take viola jokes too far, and like I'll joke a bit, but it's not really my forte and I haven't had experience with any bad actual violists. In our school orchestra, the violas are probably better that 90% of our orchestra and no one can say otherwise. Again, I love the work you do and I hope to see more of it!
I just went back to watch this again because I liked it so well yesterday and I went "I didn't notice earlier that the tempo is so fast" because I didn't realise that I still had the 1.25 playback speed on from the previous video I'd watched... So now I can confirm that this is very pleasant to listen to at 1.25 times the speed too

This is beautiful! I love the sound of the viola a lot more than the violin, it’s so much richer and lacks the shrillness in the highest tones. This is such a wonderful showcase of the instrument, and your playing of it was lovely to listen to. I hadn’t seen your old version. Thank you for re-recording it!

I loveeeeeeeeeee the viola so much!! It really should take the lead more often like 2cellos have done! Why think of the viola as only being a part of the harmony (I think?). You're doing such a great job getting the beauty of the viola out to more people!

Beautiful! Happy to see RUclips violists. I honestly stopped watching two set because the viola jokes were getting to be too much. Honestly made me consider quitting viola since I found them around when I started learning. But luckily I found other viola RUclipsrs that helped me know I want making the wrong choice.

Yep, it was my main instrument until I got more serious about music around 5.5 years ago when I switched completely to viola
