Best viola joke of all time: The violin and viola are actually the same instrument, it's just violinists' heads are so big it makes their instrument look smaller.
As a violinist with a friend group consisting of 50% violists I can confirm they indeed know the best viola jokes, they just don’t like when non-violists tell them 😂😂 (also they do stand up for themselves, I actually don’t remember how often they’ve destroyed me for disrespecting viola 💀😂)
There is an old video on Ray Chen's channel where he talks with one of his friends who is a violist. I won't spoil it for you in case you want to watch the video, but yeah... violists are definitely the best at telling viola jokes. 😄
@meganwong9508 Same, on the first round my instinct told me it was him ! Something about his relaxed behaviour, probably because he was the only one who had nothing to hide and didn't have to make up stories.

Yeah, its kind of a meme but I also feel like they take it too far. They offer such good encouragement for everything else its a shame they never have a break or video where a real violist can defend themselves.
@@elyk87 Their jokes and roasts are much more tame now compared to a few years ago. I have been following them for a long time and they definitely have made a lot of effort to talk about viola in a more positive light. But you know... "chassez le naturel, il revient au galop". (No idea how to translate this French saying, I'll let you use Google Translate. 😅)
@phantomlogic6940 I think that's the main issue. Brett and Eddy grew up in orchestra culture where violinists and violists have been roasting each other for ages, a little bit like siblings teasing each other. Since at the beginning of their channel their audience was classical musicians, it wasn't an issue. But with their success they gained a new (and young) audience who come from a non-classical world, don't understand the context and tend to take it at face value...
@@MissTwoSetEncyclopedia That's a good point. Even though I was a cellist, I still picked up on this, so hearing the roast wasn't a surprise. I also recall a bit of a friendly rivalry between us (the cellists) and the violinists (specifically the first violinists), though I'm not sure if that's common. We were the best sections of our orchestra, which was part of it, I think.
Please Eddy, make a game of bringing together several violinists and you have to find Brett 🥹🙏 You had fun putting Brett in difficult situations with musicians.
A professional orchestra is planning to tour different countries. Unfortunately, on the very night before their journey starts, the conductor comes down with a bad flu. They cannot find another conductor this quickly, and cancelling the entire tour would be way too expensive, so they look for a replacement within the orchestra. As it turns out, one of the violists has conducting experience. So the orchestra goes on the tour and plays concerts in various cities, all of which are great successes. Back home during the first orchestra practice with their recovered conductor, the rest of the violists come up to the one who conducted the entire tour: "Where have you been these past two months? We haven't seen you during the entire tour!"
Small suggestion, if we are doing this type of game next time, any chance to let each musician play a bit of their fav piece after answer reveal? Or at least play something together? Since you guys are trying to bring classical music to more people right, this is a good chance to let people who click in to have a taste of classical music. I know copy strike can be a thing, I'm sorry, just a small suggestion.
Good idea! I would like that! But in this case they were lying about their favourite piece of course ;) but still they could all have played something at the end!
The Viola King is sitting there, waiting for his loyal knight to join him. But before that, the knight needs to pass both physical and mental tests to prove his loyalty to Voila.
All jokes aside, viola is actually pretty nice to listen to. I remember going to this quartet performance when I was in uni, and the viola player really caught my attention cause he is so good. He made the viola really stand out, and he has thick vibrato, which really gives his playing a personality. Well, then when I read his introduction, he is actually a violinist, and he is a prize winner at the Menuhin competition (though many many years ago) lol But anyways, viola is a beautiful instrument, when you play it well (like all instruments).
I actually love viola more than violin. I find violin to be too high pitched to my liking. Viola sits on the perfect spot between violin and cello + double bass.
I'm a bassoonist, and LOVE the sound of the viola! STOP THE VIOLA HATE!!!! hahahahahaha Maybe because one of my favorite bassoon solos was originally written for the viola. Weber's Andante and Hugarian Rondo.
