I remember a buddy always said that Ornstien in Dark Souls was a summon bolstered by Gwyndolin. The idea that when Ornstien left he left his sign for Smough to use if anyone tried to reach Gwynevere. After all, why should the player be the only one who can use the soap stones?
Doubt its the actual lore but I always liked to believe it.
As cool as the idea is, I doubt it for the sole reason of, if you kill Smough first, Ornstein doesn't return to his timeline, like what normally happens with a summon, he keeps fighting you.

@@TheAshenHollow Oh that's brilliant i had no idea that's what you were planning. A simple suggestion though, could you use a darker background without the particles, I've been falling asleep to this series for a week now but it's sometimes hard because of the bright particles. Still though, awesome series.

On my last playthrough I considered for the first time that maybe your body stays meditating outside Irythill and Archdragon Peak is only a metaphysical place. It might explain why the various bodies at the locarion where you meditate bleed when struck, like they made it to the Peak but died

It would be nice if they made a souls game based around the War with the Everlasting dragons or around the time before things spiraled downwards for the lord's and their citys.
I just thinking something similar recently I'd kinda like a souls game where we get to ve a specific character from the lore
A spin-off following the firstborn's story would be pretty interesting, getting to see everything from the war on dragon, to his betrayal and fall, finally becoming a god of a secluded sect at the end of time

I never really liked the “Ornstein was a hologram” theory. It creates problems with how Smough absorbs him and also him absorbing Smough. Why would we get his soul in DS1 if he was an illusion? Hell, I guess anybody in DS1 could have been an illusion.
But what really does it for is the description of Smough’s set in 3: “Grotesque armor associated with Smough, the last knight to stand in defense of the ruined cathedral.”

Hey love the content just thoughts on how it might be even more enjoyable in my opinion if you’re allowed to maybe you might play some dark souls music in the background, also when you give your opinion I wonder if it might be cool to take a perspective from the start and deliver your opinions like they are fact with a disclaimer or something just so to focus the talk more. I know hardly necessary and you’re the one making the content I just thought about those two things while listening because I love the lore and I thought maybe some changes might make the audio feel more immersive and connected.
Also if you weaved dark souls music in and out throughout that also might give the audio extra flair and progression. Maybe you even put music behind the parts that are uncontroversial lore and have the music fade during your opinions like a pause of the story
I know this also takes way more time but hey you’re doing the series I just wanted to give some ideas for the hell of it
Maybe you have some gameplay sounds that play sort of off in the distance of the audio to simulate us in the game
One thing that always interested me about the O&S fight is that, by killing Super Smough, you receive his soul. However, by killing Super Ornstein, you receive not a soul, but a ring.
Perhaps From’s intention, from the very beginning, was to imply that one of the two was a shadow, whom you could not take a soul from.

Could you do a video on the ancient wyvern? Not much evidence to support it but feel like its havel. The havel knight we fight drops the weapon and shield of Havel instead of it being referenced As the knights own weapon. Havel was originally a knight of gwyn could be the very dragon slayer who served them both. I mean explains why he would be there. Stopping anyone from disturbing his Friends slumber. Just a thought. Oh and someone mentions gwyn locking him away, to bite off your theory just cuz he does get locked up doesn't mean he stays that way

There's a theory about Orstein and Smough which I can't stop thinking about. Smough's soul is the only boss soul which costs 1. Everyone says that it's all because Smough is a terrible monster which soul shouldn't cost anything. Ah yes, let's close our eyes on the fact that there's a lot of bosses in the Souls lore that are much more evil, like Aldrich, and their soul costs normally. And, correct me, but how at the same time in the fucking Lordran an ILLUSION can have a boss soul which costs a lot? So, here's the thing I'm trying to say. Do you know that after the Orstein & Smough battle, both of them actually stay alive after. When Orstein dies first, which is actually an illusion, Smough takes the soul and abilities of an ILLUSION, not a real person. That also can explain why Super Smough is weaker than Super Orstein. When we defeat Super Smough, we actually get "Hologram's" soul under the name "Smough's Soul" and and his true soul stays with him all the time after the battle. The same thing with Super Orstein. That is way further from being a good theory, but I hope you understand the link between Smough's soul costing 1 and Orstein being a hologram.

I made it to two minutes.
Imo there’s 2 explanations as to how Ornstein existed in both 1 and 3. First is that we know the souls universe contains multiple worlds/timelines so it’s safe to assume that in at least 1 of these worlds Ornstein would have left Lordran. After all IIRC there’s nothing that confirms that all the souls games take place in the same timeline. Second explanation is the one you gave, that simply the fight with Ornstein and Smough was actually against illusions created by Gwyndolin.
