As someone who live in Christchurch and travels around South Island. If you plan on doing the same itinerary I wouldn’t recommend doing it in the same order. Lots of doubling back

Hi! We didn't need to file any permits with the NZ authorities. Just make sure that you register your drone and check if the area you want to fly it on is not under the "No Fly Zone" list. Hope this helps! :)
