I got this stove/grill because of the price of the BushBox. It works just fine for me and my budget. I have used it about two dozen times and no warping or sticking. As I said, it works for me.
Hi David indeed mine is fine also, I think most people will agree that the market leading Bushbox XL is the best you can buy, this is a good system at a great price that more people are able to afford
I love mine and as with yours it's stood the test of proper use fine so I'd happily recommend it
Thank you for watching and taking the time to add a comment of your experience 👍

Tip if you build up coals and throw in a few BBQ heat beads you will get good heat and a low flame for cooking
👍
I've used one of these stoves a few times now with no issues and think it's great for the price.
Yeah since I got mine I discovered that the German company Robens sells them for almost £50
So mine is clearly a Chinese copy but as you I'm very happy with it and certainly happy about the cheaper price tag!

Just bought mine, I've only bought small stoves in the past and this has become a big game changer for me. So many uses and no legal trouble of open fire laws when you want to cook something outdoors

1:13 REALLY like this because it appears to be 100% stainless steel, wish the top grid was symmetrical to the open top, maybe cut some small slots where the grid handle would be allowed to fit a little lower?
Thanks for watching, I've seen people do that and drill holes so you can push wire tent pegs through to hold alcohol stoves or allow cups to be set at different levels too.
I've also seen a much larger version of this exact design on amazon now too, which gives even more scope for modifications 👍

it does fold! very nice! I like it!
A good set up you have there Roo I like the way it folds up nicely in a bag very neat and tidy Thanks for sharing atb and God bless you.
Hi Costa yeah the bag is tidy but why they put carry handles on it like a handbag is beyond me should be straps so you can attach to a bag in my opinion
The stove itself is great though once you eventually get all the blue plastic film off it!
Take care brother
Roo
@@PreparedCamping Why not cut them off and maybe make one into a strap to add on to kit? atb
My sewing skills are fairly basic Costa, but I do have various spare straps so that's a good modification idea mate! 👍
@@PreparedCamping Cut one strap off and cut one in in half fashion it to come down one side parallel with the straps on the side of bag to the bottom get some buttons of metal fasteners? you can get them on ebay
@@PreparedCamping or metal fasteners
I think putting the handles on front and back instead of the sides is a design flaw. also ash can fall of the ash pan at both sides. The price is amazing however.
I can see why they picked the front and back for the handles as the sides are hinged to fit inside when closed up so would have to be removable to fit on there I reckon

Wish I found this earlier, I paid $60 for a winnerwell fire pit, an extra $40 on the grills for either side, $20 each, and another $20 for a grate that sits in the bottom of it, and it's about 40% smaller than this. It works well and all, but for the money I spent I really wish I had seen this first.
There are better options than this but for the price I think it's excellent, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment much appreciated buddy 👍

Roo
@@PreparedCamping it looks alot better to cook on than the winnerwell small firepit, and it's half the price, I'll still take the winnerwell with me, along with a hiker 360 furno stove kit and a trusty old hexi stove but this thing already looks like it will pay itself off in the long-run, especially for it's price. Thanks for the review and the reply. Happy camping brother 🙏🏻.

I got one of these recently and have enjoyed using it. Lights easily, no problems with warping or bending, although the steel is fairly thin. Mine came under the brand “Redcamp” but is just like all of the others with the door in front. That said, the version sent to the US has 2 steel rods that allow various adjustable levels for the fire grate.

Good video 😎👍😎👍.. i went straight for a bushbox xl.. tbh i didnt really look around for any other alternatives.. the stove in this video looks pretty good though and the end of the day they all do the exact same job regardless of what company makes them.. i must admit i do like to cook on these firebox style stoves although i use my gas stove aswel i always prefer cooking on the bushbox.. and when finished cooking stoke it up a little for a small camp fire.
Yeah a gas stove isn't as great to look at and obviously sometimes it's not possible to have a campfire but these do a great job of containing the fire without causing damage
The bushbox XL is an amazing bit of kit but this is less than a quarter of the price so I think it will be very popular and maybe bushcraft essentials will reduce the price of the XL 😉

How high is this bushbox, you say its an xl as in extra large? Or is this the smaller one. Great vid thou
I've seen on another review for this stove that the handles on the box can fit up through the top grill's parts to keep it steady, do you think that's cannon?
The handles on mine when folded upwards do not extend past the top of the stove so that wouldn't be possible
You could fairly easily cut small notches in the top edge so the grill plate is recessed deeper into the top of the stove if you felt you needed to make it more secure

@@PreparedCamping Thank you for taking the time to check & reply. I shall have to see how easy the modification will be when mine arrives 😎
I recently bought one of these stoves for camping, mine won't open or unfold any tricks to get them open
Sounds like you should get a refund I didn't have to do anything special to unfold mine
I missed how it works
It's a steel box which can be a wind screen and pot holder for alcohol stoves or you can simply load it with solid fuel and burn that
I did a follow up video where I just used fallen twigs as fuel here;
ruclips.net/video/N3W_AcBCxLo/видео.html
Thanks for watching hope you have a Happy Easter
All the best
Roo
But what if you actually use it? How do you clean it? Etc.
As soon as you use it it will "blue" as the steel heats and cools, to clean I simply give it a wipe with a scouring pad to remove most of the soot and resins, it's a wood burner it will never be shiny after use
All the best
Roo
Would be interested how this holds up longer term
Its made from stainless steel so as long as you dont sit on it a long time >_>
@@TheCooperman666 depends how thick. It could buckle to the heat, that's the problem with thinner stoves, add a working hinge in their sidewall and I wonder how long it'll be fine for.

@@tjk355 I checked where it came from made sure It was not from China always poor quality
How would you use this when it’s raining?
What could be sued as a shelter that is both fire and water proof?
Works fine with a canvas tent or tarp as you could get the odd spark if using twigs as your fuel but if you put a small alcohol stove inside it then it's fine with any well ventilated shelter system 👍
All the best
Roo
@@PreparedCamping Thanks for that, but I was thinking of using this more so when the power goes out, and use it out in the garden, I don’t currently have a tent, but would a canvas sheet on some sticks do?
If its thick enough yes but a waterproof tarp is super cheap and will definitely work for that on a couple of sticks no problem 👍
@@PreparedCamping Appreciate that man, new sub!
Look forward to your next video!
Just thinking are the water proof tarps flame proof to?
And does Amazon U.K. sell them?
I looked them up and I’m finding ones that are both water and flame proof but they are about £100.
And I was thinking of using PVC pipes to hold it up, but I’m thinking they might not handle the heat.
@@kylethedalek thanks appreciate the kind feedback 👍
Normal nylon garden tarps are not fire proof but they are cheap and if a little hole gets made by a hot ember you can patch it with a bit of duct tape 👍
Heat wise for plastic poles and tarps you're fine so long as you don't get within 4ft of the stove on the sides and at least 6ft above
Why wouldn't you use it in a burn
A empty tin can will contain a fire the relevant information for this stove is its dimensions, weight, and alternative uses
For the price I think it's great value, will happily boil water or heat a meal, whether you use twigs or place an alcohol stove inside it
