Why do the commentators always act like it’s a rare occurrence when he gets smashed?

I'm in shock to this day how he got away with that. And if anyone was wavering about his character, the way he pretended to be injured to take focus away from the incident was terrible and then he got up and jumped around with joy when he realised he got away with it. Disgraceful.

Owen Farrel only tackles one way.....even when he is bumped, he is still trying to shoulder charge his opponent. I don't know how anyone that tackles like that can make it this far in world rugby, let alone play in the England squad. But I guess England is desperate.
One the last clips he tried in that big 8 but that mountain wasn’t having it… sat him right back down where he belongs

If commentators constantly say "you don't see that too often" when Farrell gets bumped, you obviously do.
always the same dude who says it hes a broken record. english commentators are fucking awful though. you have one younger one with an annoying voice predicting whats about to happen and when it doesnt he trys to justify his nonsense. the second is some old dude who gets the players names wrong and also joins in as a mystic predicting whats about to happen
Loved this, I for one cannot understand the accolades he receives as one of the greatest! thuggery yes! although he received his "comeuppance" on more than a few occasions in this compilation and deservedly so, one gets the feeling that he is a "malicious" character in need of some serious discipline
I, for one, would like to meet him alone & "inform" him of my opinion!

The funniest bit about this video was, if you heard it, the commentators saying (regarding the Kolbe try) Farrell is one of the best defenders out there. I'm an England fan but this is absolute comedy gold.
Times these missed tackles by the amount of tackles he makes and it will be 0.1% of his performance

That Ferrit was lining up to do his signature only shoulder tackle to Kolbe, only to be stepped into a new dimension by Kolbe.
You know looking back had he tackled properly for the first time in his life right there he could have a chance to at least slow Kolbe down for someone to catch up… but no, legend has it the stadium officials are still looking for Owen’s ankles but I think Kolbe took them home with the Webb Ellis as souvenir 😂
God as a South African it was a blessing to watch that twat get left behind by Kolbe when he was trying his usual nonsense with him 😂

I am French, and when I saw the slow-motion replay of the French team's try several times, it pleased me, but I wondered, "Why include it so many times in this video, it doesn't make sense." Then I understood... When the drop occurred during the Farrell tackle (5:51). Thank you for that moment.

I never quite know what's worse: his inability to tackle legally, the commentators complete lack of understanding a legal tackle or the referees for consistently allowing it.

How has his tackling technique not changed in all these years? He so often goes high, sometime legally, but miserably fails to actually tackle anyone. All those clips showing hum getting bumped off are mainly because his position is so bad. Of course there are times when your are just flattened by a bigger guy; that's inevitable but conversely there are countless examples of little guys taking down big guys with good tackling technique. It's really hard to come away from this with any other opinion that he really does seem out to inflict harm on the opposition. When you not only lead with the shoulder but throw it in with force to the head, what other conclusion is there?
Yes, he's disliked because he's abrasive and of course being English will garner some opposition but ultimately he is thoroughly disliked because he seems intent on injuring other players.

He did get Andre but when you think about with a 20m run up shoulder charge on someone coming sideways you could even bounce Lomu off… speaking off Owen should be grateful everyday he was too young to play against the boogeyman himself cause tackling like that he wouldn’t have survived

Owen has suffered his most heartbreaking defeats in his career at the hands of The Springboks. WC final 2019, Lions Tour 2021, 2023 WC semis. Just to name a few. Any competition on the big stage ends with defeat to The Boks. Makes me proud that my country contributes immensely at wiping that stupid smirk off his face 😂

In none of these "tackles" is there an attempt to wrap, regardless of whether or not he himself gets smashed and are all worthy of yellow cards.
They are using the Farrell tackling technique against Farrell, so the tackles are LEGAL.
