  • I wanted to do this video last week, but didn't have time to get to it. But finally managed to complete it. It's just some of the funnier moments in the South Africa vs Argentina game. Like I said last time in my other video, there's so much that we miss by only having the broadcasters audio. It's sad because it's quite funny and interesting to hear the players and ref communicate, it brings a human aspect to the game. This game was no different as it also had it's funny moments and allows us to see another side of the players that we don't always get to see, same with the ref. The ref for this game was Nika Amashukeli, who is a Georgian referee who is quickly becoming one of the top 3 refs in the world, if he's not already.
    00:00 - 5. Marvin Orie And Nika Amashukeli's Bromance
    03:08 - 4. Battle Of The Captains
    04:55 - 3. Bongi Mbonambi's Captaincy
    07:22 - 2. Manie Libbok's Magic Juice
    09:50 - 1. Deon Fourie Is A DOG!
    16:10 - Bonus Clip
    Lastly, I would also like to thank VHA Accounting Solutions for their partnership during this 2023 Rugby Championship. This video was sponsored by them. We look forward to a great partnership during this Rugby Championship

    • @tasanalytics
      @tasanalytics  9 месяцев назад +2

      The crowd noise doesn't really impact the sound that much. Most of the time it's just the mic itself that the refs carry. Sometimes it's placed at bad spot or simply just having technical difficulties. But with a good mic, it can pick up most stuff even in a sold out stadium.

    • @tasanalytics
      @tasanalytics  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, Also impressed with his ability to have good conversations with the players. You should see some of his older videos, he could barely speak english, now he's able to hold long and thoughtful conversations and able to explain his interpretation. That probably the most impressive thing I've seen since going back to his older footage. So he clearly spent a great deal of time to develop his English, and you have to respect that. I wish more of the French refs would do that, because I've seen a lot of times where they know only a few words, and it makes it impossible for a captain to have a meaningful conversation, that's why the French refs tend to get aggressive when questioned.

    I genuinely think the Red juice is probably just water in another bottle but if it can convince Manie it's a lucky potion he will probably believe it to gain his confidence.
    Who is this ref? Is he the same ref that reffed yesterday's match between England and Wales. The only person on the field to have a fantastic day was the ref. Brilliant man. I don't know how he does it but he gets it right and consistently so

      @@borksausage Thanks for adding that, I forgot to do that in my initial reply. But yeah, I was very critical of his game of Ireland vs South Africa, where he had a shocker. I seems that it was obviously just one bad game. He's gotten very good. Also checked some of his older videos, it's very impressive how he developed his English. a few years ago you could see his language being an issue, but now from the games I've checked, he's able to have fluent and nice conversation with teams. That is impressive to see, because we've seen with the French referees, that it can become an issue if a ref isn't very good at english.

      Yeah I will, but the only issue is that it takes a day to get these angles, so my immediate videos will use normal footage. Then during the week I'll create these types of videos. Probably won't be able to do all games because it's too much for one person to do. But will target the big games. I'm also helping a team at the World Cup so have to prioritize that as well. So videos like these might not be posted as quick, but will obviously try to do it within the first few days after a game if it's possible

    How do you get all of the alternative angles and the ref's mic isolated like that?

    • @tasanalytics
      @tasanalytics  9 месяцев назад +5

      It's the footage that coaches and analysts gets from each respective team. Some teams have even more angles, but usually it's 4 angles. Only the officiating team's audio is linked with these cameras. It's also what the TMO gets, however World Rugby will most likely deny that. But I have my sources which says TMO's have quite a few more angles then they're telling us about. But it does make sense why they keep it quiet, because if you have 20 angles in a game, it probably would take way too long to make decision. So they focus on a few. That is why I've always suggested the TMO should also have a team around him to help go through the footage. But what do I know

    Excellent analysis, as always. I would like to see TASanalytics do a video on Manie "stealing metres". I am an avid Stormers and Springbok supporter, but I am concerned about Libbok always seemingly improving angles and gaining metres before kicking penalties to touch. He always seems to advance the ball a bit when taking shots at goal, too - even when he doesn't have to. I am worried that this is going to cost us in a clutch game, especially with the World Cup looming.

    • @ptheron
      @ptheron 9 месяцев назад +1

      As far as i know, and i stand to be corrected, the only thing that can happen is the ref will stop him and show him the correct mark. I fail to see how this will cost us in a clutch game

    • @tasanalytics
      @tasanalytics  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah as the other user explained, it definitely happens a lot. But even if the ref spots it, he'll probably let it slide the first time, and give a warning. If he does it again, he would probably end up giving a free kick to the other team, I don't think it would be a reverse of a penalty (I might be wrong, not to sure about that), but yeah it happened in the British n Irish Lions series vs SA in the first test, where Dan Biggar was the flyhalf who took the penalty. When ref looked away he moved 5 meters in front of mark and just kicked it, the ref noticed it and told him his mark was back, but he didn't penalize him or made him re-kick it, he gave him a warning. Dan Biggar just told Nic Berry to "Just tell me where the mark is then", which shows he knew what he was doing. Personally I would've liked if the ref in that situation let's him retake the kick at the correct mark, but wasn't too mad it him giving him a warning and just leaving it there. But yeah, a lot of teams try to do it.

    • @jacqueshollands5630
      @jacqueshollands5630 9 месяцев назад

      @@ptheronThanks for the clarification. That is a relief. I just wonder sometimes about rugby that can be so anal to the n-th degree when it comes to being in touch, but seemingly does not enforce the same rules with kicking, either for touch or goal. Not to mention the kick-offs that are sometimes taken way across the halfway line.

    • @jacqueshollands5630
      @jacqueshollands5630 9 месяцев назад

      @@tasanalytics It makes sense what the previous user said. I was not concerned about a penalty being reversed, but more about a penalty kick being turned into a scrum for the opposition. Something similar to when Raynal ordered a scrum when Foley took too long, taking a penalty kick.

    It might be pertinent that Libboks missed kicks happened with thr old ball which was replaced. After the replacement ball, Libbok kicked 💯. There may be something in that. Perhaps the first ball lost some pressure or its calibration was off which might have affected Libbok. Was Bofelli kicking 💯 with the first ball? Can you check?

    • @tasanalytics
      @tasanalytics  9 месяцев назад

      Yeah the red drink thing is obviously just a joke. The ball definitely has a way bigger influence. It's interesting though, because in the France vs Scotland game, Dupont kicked the ball and when the Scottish player caught it, the ball went went flat. I wonder if it's the same balls, I would assume it is since it's close to the World Cup. So might be interesting to see if this becomes an issue in the World Cup

    I really do not like players shouting at the referee that they've legally won the ball at the breakdown. They are NOT referees. They are players. They should zip it and let him make the decision. Trying to influence his decision that way is a serious issue that I think warrants a straight sanction against any player that thinks they can determine the outcome when they're not the ones holding a whistle.

      Every team does that, I don't mind it that much. As long as they don't like get aggressive towards the ref. But in some cases, I think it actually helps the ref if players shout when they're on the ball. It forces the ref to put his focus there. So if the player shouts just to indicate his on the ball, I have no issue and that happens a lot. But if he does it aggressively towards the ref and tells him to give a penalty, then I agree, we don't need that.

      @@tasanalytics I get that if it helps the referee. And I know full well everyone does it, even Ireland, my home team. But the issue I take with it is mostly out of concern for the referee themselves. Because if they make a decision that matches up with what the team legally winning the ball tells them, the opposing team that are pinged are definitely going to think that the referee is either too easily influenced or even fully partial towards the team that wins the ball and that can lead to massive problems on the field, chief among which is trust. We all know referees must be impartial, and must be well able to stand up to any external factor that can raise questions about how they do their job.
