I have never seen someone be able to walk the fine line of domestication & wild. She is wild, but she has accepted you & other members of your family into hers. Very difficult task, 99.9% of animal experts would fail. K9s feed off emotion, & your just being yourself gains her respect.

@@white_tiger9298 What is "basically tamed"? There is tamed and not tamed. No nearly tamed or almost tamed. If she loves him, explain her half interest in him. I don't have to hold food out, beg my dog to come to me, and wait for him to decide to. Animals who love you will show a high level of obedience. My dog is a great dog. He very rarely does anything you have to get onto him about. And that's just how he is. I didn't train him. I actually kept him from going to the pound due to his owner dying. He was over a year old when I met him. And after a few days I could not walk ten feet without him right there and it's been that way ever since. That's love. But believe what you will.

Have to keep in mind that she is a wild animal and has very strong instincts. When shes inside of her den not only is she having the desire to protect weather she has pups or not. That instinct is powerful. Another things that is going on is when shes inside of her den shes cornered with nowhere to escape. Animals especially wild animals experience strong fight or flight erges when faced with even a potential threat. Having no escape inside her den her instincts are leaning strongly towards fight. A domestic dog can overcome these instincts with humans because they've become use to humans being a member if their pack. Now with wild animals, this self preserving instinct will quickly cause the animal to foget the trust they've developed for a human. Its wise to exercise caution when approaching any wild animal that is cornered with no escape. It doesn't matter if you rescued them and raised them from a pup. A wild animal's space should be respected. What this man is doing is exceptable. He didn't over step her boundaries. I believe he did help this coyote when it was in danger. She is clearly been abandon by her pack and depends on him for her survival. Shes become his responsibility and he clearly cares for her.

I think she built her den to have babies in, and it's close to things she loves, such as: Timmy MC, hotdogs, her duck and her aspirational Pro-Wrestler kitty.
There's a non-zero chance that Tim might be a coyhound granddaddy before the year is out!

Really interesting that she is nesting but no pups and not pregnant. Ive heard of dogs doing this but not wild dogs like coyotes.
This is a great little story to watch unfold. She had a bit of a rough start in life but there's way worse fates for an animal than ending up somewhere where youre loved and have your own crazy pack to run with.
Thanks for recording it so we can follow along.

My parents raised Alaskan malamutes in the 1970s in a one acre fenced pen. The females would dig deep dens to give birth to their litters. I am the oldest kid, and so it was my job to get the pups out of the den so they could be moved to a box in my parents’ bedroom. Normally docile and sweet pets, malamutes revert to full wolf when pups are born. Dodging the snapping massive jaws of the mother while trying to pull enough pups out to make her abandon the den and follow us inside the house was always fun.

Typically, if a wild animal is growling when you’re near their den, that doesn’t mean go closer to it, no, but in all reality, she’s probably got some thing in there. She doesn’t want you seeing or checking. It might be a special toy or something, but typically that’s what that means
