Baxter's face when he sees the mirror is so heartbreaking.
When he gives her back the mirror.... looking shocked.... i always want to hug him....
"It makes me look the way I feel..." OMG
Billy Wilder was a great artist and the entire cast was fantastic . What a treasure Wilder is !
one of my favorite scenes ever...'makes me look the way I feel'
Two decent people swimming in the corporate soup. They survive. But only because they reject it.
Fred MacMurray so thoroughly portrayed the villain, he had to change his image.
Great in Double Indemnity". Excellent actor.
Thank you for posting this. Best movie ever about the corporate world. Every young woman who is involved with or is thinking about being involved with a married man should see this. Shirley MacLaine was robbed of an Oscar for her great performance as Fran Kubelik.
Probably my favourite scene of probably my favourite film. So heartbreaking, so crushing. You feel so much for both of them in this scene. Thanks for posting
My favourite movie ever 💓💓💓
makes me look the way i feel, broken
terrific movie. I've seen it a dozen times.
"Makes me look the way I feel." Now that's a line if performed by a lesser actress would have come across as over dramatic or pretentious. But Shirley plays it so natural and turns a corny line into a great one.
I have related to that line many times
The Apartment - easily my favourite film about humanity of all time. Touching, heart wrenching, superb acting throughout. Just get a copy and treasure it.
Such lovely details in the acting in this scene--I especially love the way Fran reacts when Baxter mentions Sheldrake's name--the sudden tension and forced self-control expressed just with the eyes and shoulders. Or the way she conveys the double meaning in "This is a bad day for me." Or the way Baxter's voice suddenly goes down an octave at the end of the scene when he says "Hello, Mr. Sheldrake."
Makes me sad this clip. Every time. Amazing. From the UK.
I really appreciate this movie 🍿🎥 I like the actors and the writers beautiful movie 🍿 ever!!!
I've seen this in real life. This sums up life's ironies. Corporate life is evil.
Shirley is a doll
Does it sound worth mentioning that at least five of the seven Billy Wilder movies I've seen so far have some kind of shindig as a turning point?
I Love Her!!!
Seen this movie recently was brillant, they should make movies like this more often:-)
These movies are now long gone regrettably...
That's the way it crumbles...cookie wise !!!! Say no more...see my RUclips Name !!!! Who took the Name The Apartment !? Give It to me !!!!!

The moment of truth...
North By North-West Hitchcock.
aww!😍
What is the music playing at the beginning of the clip?
I like this movie but am I the only one here who doesn’t think the two central characters are swell people? Baxter is allowing himself to be punked by his superiors in order to move up the corporate ladder. Kubelik is screwing somebody’s husband, then attempts suicide when it turns out he’s stringing her along. I’m not saying they’re the worst people and it’s cool that they end up together (sorta?), but rewatching this as an adult I found I didn’t spend the entire movie rooting for them.
