Great, great video! I was student of Joe Morello for ten years. This is very similar to one of Joe's techniques. He called it the modified Moeller or forearm throw technique. It really works and your detailed explanation is excellent!
Thank you! In the new course coming out on February 10th, I’ll include a deep dive into traditional grip as well. 👍 In the meantime if you are curious, you can watch this whole 6 part course for FREE here: www.reubenspyker.com/
@@Landenburg thank you for the kind words. 🙂 If you liked this video you may enjoy the whole 6 part course which can be accessed FREE here. www.reubenspyker.com/ I am also launching another course with every technique broken down in both the right and left hands on Feb 10th.
@ReubenSpyker a rabbit hole indeed, but you might dig the concepts. I find @KevinCrabb to be an exceptional teacher. eg. ruclips.net/video/taPqSOu2jBQ/видео.htmlsi=3JU5mIQAfCKZztNs I got a collection of Modern Drummer articles I can email to you if you'd be interested in a written overview. lmk thank you so much & keep it coming! 🥰
I’m going to sound like a hater… but the Moeller method is bullshit. It works for getting accents on the hi hat. But for truly playing fast and powerful. Ricardo Merlini’s method of using the wrist and forearm in every stroke is the best that I’ve ever seen.

Moeller on drums and good legato on guitar are my goals for late adulthood 😊. Still plenty of time left.
Love it! 🙂
@ReubenSpyker killer series man! This is some high level observation, gold! Have you studied Spivak at all? Thank you!
Thank you very much! No I haven’t studied his work. I’ve heard his name a lot though.
