  • Back harvesting more ocean picture stone from my quarry. And in this video we find the most perfect ocean scene in one rock, and start changing i from a beautiful rock into a beautiful gemstone for jewelry. And of course explaining the process along the way. Selecting the scene, slabbing the rock, scribing the shape, and using a trim saw to start cutting out the shape. I will be showing how to make it into a cabochon in a later video.

Dan I almost hated seeing the scene cut down so small even though each of those you cut were still really nice. Some longer length framed pieces with desktop picture mounts (for table ornaments) I'd think could be very desirable. They sure are beautiful unique rocks and preserving a nice long swath for a few pieces that can be wall hung or placed on mantles or tables I feel could be very desirable. Love you have this claim and am excited to see what you can do in the future with your specimens!!

Breaker 05 you can buy yourself a field guide for your area! I live in southern Oregon so I have the book called “ Gem trails of Oregon“. Around here we pick up agate and a variety of different jaspers. We also find petrified wood and fossils! You just have to get yourself a book! Look up rockhounding books for your area.

you would get big blocks out if you cut first with a sthil saw then chisel the bed seam with a bolster chisel. even if you drilled in lines a few inches deep and close together you wouldn't shatter the rocks with a bolster or even a pitching tool. Using a point or a narrow cold chisel doesn't work well unless you just want to dig a hole. great program and great stones.
