📝Basic information:
About my work - I remove beaver dams when I receive an order from a state organization.
I do not choose which dam to remove. It is decided by officials at the request of nearby residents. Each dam is assessed in advance if it can and if should be dismantled.
Removing the dam is not a threat to beavers. I do not remove their houses - lodges.
Dams are removed only in places where beavers cause damage, for example by flooding nearby fields, flooding the basements of nearby houses, or when the stream on which beavers built their dam is degraded.
Even though beavers are very invasive animals, they are under strict protection in our country.
I personally like all animals, so beavers are fine too.

Beaver dams are like speed bumps in the streams and help slow down the water as it moves through a system. Slower water means less erosion and in some cases less flooding from storms. Ponds also absorb some of the water even if they already appear full, so the volume of water also decreases through a beaver system.

The deepth of a cut is more important than the width of the breach. Use the volume of the water going through a cut to move the mud away.
A cut one foot wide and four feet deep will lower the water better than a cut one food deep and four feet wide.

Caution first. Better to not get swept away by half a million gallons of water. It's funny, you can kinda tell when an 83 year old has spent their life watching other people work.
